    This guy is a very good fabricator and I'm a boilermaker,he uses drill jigs and his welding is nice and neat.

    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

    How to DIY a squat rack:
    Step 1. Be awesome at metalworking.
    Step 2. Build an extremely high quality squat rack.

    That's awesome, man! I honestly considered this project, but then saw the pricing on racks from Titan. The chinese are just incredible. I was able to buy the entire thing, finished, for just a little more than what I could buy square tubes for.
    Great job, though! You are a stud!

    Bro that was freaking awesome, I've wanting for so long to build one of this racks and make many projects, right now I got some money to begin with my maker journey, but I don't have any idea on what equipment to buy, I don't have a ton of money but I think I have enough to start with, I don't care if tools are used or not if I can find them in good working conditions, can you help me with a list of power tools to begin metalworking like you? Maybe not in the super expensive way but In a quality-cost

    Good video-
    Did you have a brake down of parts.. and prices ?
    Also- all the holes- I understand a typical rack but you also drilled a few more on the face side of the steel- can you tell us what’s the purpose?

    Is this an actual identical remake of a rogue rack? As in would someone be able to purchase rogue attachments and have them fit onto this rack? For example safety straps or plate storage pins, land mine attachments, dip bar etc? I’d like a rack like the rml 690 with all the fancy attachments. But as someone with the skills and resources to build such an item, i can’t be asked to pay the $3000 price tag of the rack from roguecanada website. Is there anyways that you could specify more of the dimensions; such as hole size and spacing. I’ve never actually seen these racks except for on the internet.

    • @Coxy002605

      Looks like a copy of a Rogue R3 (So 2x3" 11 gauge steel box section, with 5/8" holes at 2" spacings, and at 1" spacings through the bench zone). Yes, all Rogue Infinity (intended for 2x3" racks) accessories will fit this rack. The RML690 is 3x3" steel box section so you'd need Rogue Monster Lite accessories to fit it.
      If you don't mind spending a few days drilling holes, go for it. I built a Rogue R3 copy (but shorter so it would clear the ceiling, and bolted together so I could build it outside, then assemble it inside) with basic tools for half of what the same specification rack from Rogue would have cost.
      That price includes buying J-Hooks and a fat/skinny pullup bar from Rogue Europe (I made my own pin pipe safety spotters for half of what Rogue were charging, and a 43" bracing bar, which isn't included with the Rogue rack, to go between the rear uprights to reduce any chance of the rack twisting). If I had fabricated the other accessories myself, I'd have saved even more (probably would have cost 2/3 less than from Rogue for the lot).
      I'm from the U.K where steel is relatively expensive, so it would be even cheaper for you in Canada, and you'd avoid paying the insane mark-up/labour charge that Rogue adds to their equipment too.

    • @GardnersGarage
      @GardnersGarage  5 років тому

      That’s right. It cost me about 220$ Canadian. I’ve made them where the entire things bolts together like my other video of the monster squat rack. But the bolts really add up in price.
      I buy the j hooks for $30. Powder coated and with plastic to save the knurling.
      Rogue puts their dimensions on their website. The hole pattern is the same. I drill the holes 21/32. That’s close to 0.030” larger then the 5/8” pin on the hooks.

Also do you think the torque of the drill press matters? Because mine would always stop spinning when I would push down too hard. Need advice for when I make my strongman yoke

    great video, thank you for the upload, I have a question, i have the 2×3 11 gauge steel, and I was thinking about upgrading to the 3x3 11 gague steel have you ever consider doing 3x3? i wonder if been 3x3 would make the rack way more stronger and durable? also my steel is made in Canada, is the steel quality the same as the USA or better? usually use northern light brand on the uprights are you familiar with them? thank you so much .

      @GardnersGarage  7 років тому +2

      Thanks for watching and the comment! I have made one with 3x3 before (11 gauge) I all honesty I dont think you will notice any difference in making it stronger. I think you see 3x3 from rogue because it looks bigger and badder. I make it with 2x3 all the time because I buy the j-hooks from Fitness Depot .. the Northern Lights brand. Where as if I wanted the 3x3 I would have to find them online .. probably Rogue and they are crazy expensive. I also am in Canada. I'm Waterloo Region in Ontario

      I wouldn't use stick for this, use either MIG or TIG. I'm just a welding student but last year I was tig welding 10 ga. steel, and ran around 150-170 amps. but 11 gauge is I believe 0.119 inches thick, so keep in mind heat, the fact its so thin and stay away from galvanized. welding that will kill you if you don't know what you're doing.
