    A full tutorial on all three would be greatly appreciated especially the solid/mosaic one.
    The top down mosaic colors is lovely but maybe a different starting pattern would change your view. Please continue to do all this for the crochet community...we appreciate you!
    I've tried to crochet tops but never completed them...the sleeves don't fit right ...granny arms...or the football linebacker....lack of shaping... look isn't for me.
    Hope you forget about the people that have an issue with your joyful laugh...it's contagious.

    As someone said below, the round, top-down sweater would be easier in a raglan style- but I would love to know your design process for what you have. I also think it would be fantastic is brighter, "Scandinavian" colors. with off white or cream for the base color ( not the design color). I personally love your laugh, it's part of you and you're perfect the way you are. Thanks for this video, reminding us that we can use mosaic for ANYTHING!!

    I love you and your adorable, silly laugh! I appreciate your honesty, too. I haven't attempted making a sweater, but your explanations make it seem doable. I love mosaic, but I think I'd need to see how you make the sleeve, then add the body. Frankly, I'd watch anything you do.

    Hey Courtney ❤. I'm loving both cardigans!! But I find myself getting confused when it comes to making the sleeves. I understand it's all one piece. Then when I would start the other side,😮,the count is different and ends up WONKY 😢. Please do a Full Blown Tutorial for both cardigans.😊 I really liked your 'Jester Sweater'!

    I always watch all the way to the end, and I never fast forward. I love your laugh. It is contagious, though, so I do have to be careful since my stomach hurts when I laugh. I still love to hear it though. I have to agree that the court jester was my first thought, too, once you put it on, but I think it's more the triangles around the top of the neck giving that appearance. I think it would be better if you could think of something that naturally increases in shape as it goes down. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that wouldn't be upside down when working top-down, though, like the butterflies and the hearts. You would need something that has the shape decreasing from bottom to top like a pear since you're, in essence working it upside down from a top-down perspective. Obviously, that's why your first impulse was the triangles. Maybe if you could do an upside down (to you) fleur-de-lis pattern ⚜which would grow naturally if you start from the top tip and increase out as you increase the yoke around the neckline? I don't know, they might still look court jester-ish. I love the idea of a top down mosaic sweater, though. I love the cardigans, but I think I like the one best where you didn't do the sleeve portion in mosaic but just the bottom half. That gives you more freedom to decrease on the sleeves if you want them more fitted or to even go all the way to the wrist without being baggy. I just find that my open/loose crochet sleeves tend to snag on everything from door knobs to drawer pulls to dishwasher racks, LOL :) So having the option to keep those snug at my wrists is a must, especially for winter cardigans which I'm more likely to make in mosaic. Hugs & blessings! Love you💜💜💜

      Thank you so much for weighing in and for being do kind.🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 I actually have been working to flip some of the designs to upside down orientation so that they can be worked top down. Cactus is done, butterfly is next then I'll do the hearts. That's going to help me to be able to use them on the redesign of the court jester sweater 🤣 I'm glad you sew it too!! I definitely think the triangles are where I started to go wrong🤣🤣🤣 sent me in a direction that I wasn't trying to go 🤣 I've got a walk through "tutorial" uploading for the sleeve construction that will hopefully help the more advanced folks get started. I'll be doing a full tutorial for the back panel construction it's just going to take quite a while to film the entire thing. I'll get some more of the upside down patterns filmed so I have something to release while I work on the sweater stuff. The upside down patterns are great to use with top down zipper pouches etc too. Hope you have a wonderful day and hope to see ya in the comments again soon 😘😘😘😘🥰🥰🥰🥰

    I love these sweaters! I would love to see you adding chains to both sides. I think I get it, just continue to add chains on your last row of the sleeve, then cut that yarn, then flip over and add chains to the other side of the sleeve, right? With the second design I'm wondering if I could use short rows to taper the sleeves? Also for your "epic fail", I do think it is giving court jester but I bet if you continued with the pattern it would not look that way in the end. The overall pattern would distract from the triangles and they wouldn't stand out as much. Anyway, I like it!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому

      First, thank you so much for the feedback, i really appreciate it! I'm definitely going to do a walk through to show how you chain out and get started. I personally was thinking of using smaller hook sizes to taper the sleeves down. Thats usually my go-to method when I want to adjust the shape, like on tops/blouses that I've made so that they are not so box shaped. I haven't tried it yet, but that's what I'm planning to try out. 😘😘😘😘💙💙💙🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

    As you said, your methods are familiar. But Courtney, your unique style is delightful and inspiring. I did one of your designs as a blanket, then you showed me how to use Excel to design my own and ditch the graph paper. I like to fit a mosaic into almost anything, but market bags and beanies get used a lot and noticed a lot! Here in the 'Mitten' state a beanie with a band of mosaic around the ears keeps out the winter winds, and it looks very fascinating as well. So, as I was watching you present your work, ideas kept popping into my head, and then you'd add that as an option ~ hilarious! I hope you have enough people to need your tutorials, because I enjoy playing them while I work on current projects! I love your start on the Halloween jester top! Hahahaha! Great job - what a task. Whew!

      I love, love, LOVE that you are still making your own designs!!!! And that you live to fit mosaics in to all your projects. That is so awesome🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 being that you are in the mitten state, have you heard of a store called Made in the Mitten? Its in Royal oaks, she has a website. It's all handmade items made in the mitten🥰🥰. I don't know if you sell your items that you make but in case you do.....😁😁 Definitely check her out, there is an application to be able artist in her shop. Thank you soooo much for your kind words, I really do appreciate them so much.😘😘😘you are total doll abd always soooo sweet. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 great minds think alike and i swear sometimes it seems like we are a hive mind here, all thinking the same things! Its crazy in a good way for sure🤣🤣Definitely got my ugly sweater started in time for... something.... didn't I 🤣🤣🤣🤣

      @@FiberFoxStudios I know some people make a living selling their craft works, but for me, selling my crafts would take the fun out of making them. And no one wants to pay for the yarn, let alone a fair wage for the work - just my opinion. A wet felter told me she had a piece for 10 years she took to every event. She refused to lower the price, so she doubled the price and it sold. The point is never to under-value your work. And doing a show itself is a LOT of work, and I'm retired so I don't want to work! So I just crochet for the pleasure of it and play the videos at a bunch of crochet sites where I like the people, how they teach (many of you are sort of mesmerizing!), and how they talk when they're being chatty about yarns and projects. FYI - happy to chat with you, but ... because I watch a bunch of youtubers around the world, I try to help them out with the 'like' and a comment to help the yt algorithms promote you better. You never have to respond and I will always enjoy your videos, and the laughter!

      Hey I do not blame you at all!!! I know people say do what you love and you will never work a day in your life....I beg to differ 🤣🤣🤣 I definitely understand not wanting to add pressure or work into something you do because you love it and have fun doing it. Or... being pressured to sell for next to nothing which is just insulting at times.
      I love chatting back and forth with you too!! It's no fun to just talk at yall and not actually get to know anything about yall or even just to talk about our favorite hobby. So I really enjoy getting to message back and forth. I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me, and for sharing your thoughts and opinions. And for also being so sweet and understanding too😘😘😘🥰🥰🥰🥰

    Hi Courtney,
    Thanks for this video.
    I would realy like to make one.
    My preference goes to the solid on top and the mosaik on the bottom.
    One piece.
    The jester is beautifull but not for a sweater. A nice round tablecloth.
    Thank you

    I would love a full tutorial on ANY of your patterns. I find it confusing trying to put together different mosaic patterns to make a whole project. I really need to be shown each step unfortunately.
    How many views total do you have for the shawl videos you posted about 2 years ago? They may not have had a lot immediately after posting but I bet over time they have accumulated a lot more… as mosaic crochet gains in popularity and people discover you. It may be time to revisit the idea of full tutorials. See what happens now.
    I, for one, hope you do!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому +1

      I really appreciate your kind words and I fully understand where you are coming from needing to be walked through the full project. I revisted the farahan series at its 2yr birthday and went back over all numbers. The videos took 120 hours to film. During that time my channel tanked, and even with these videos going out rapidly my numbers stayed down. The revenue on the last video you commented on from Farahan for its entire lifetime of being out here on UA-cam is $44.03 as if today. In 2 years all 4 videos grand total in revenue was 262.78, for all 4, fir 2 full years. That's better than the year prior CAL, but this one took me 4 months to design, perfect, write and test. Pattern sales did not help much, they have remained slow since gas prices rose in April of 2022 just prior to the release. There were a number of people who fast forwarded through and I know this because they missed rows and came at me about how I had messed up, and I was missing rows blah thru blah. The first few times this happened I really thought I had messed up on these different areas. Sent me into a total panic and i spent hours watching all the rows they said were missing 🤣🤣🤣 I definitely don't think everyone does that but it happens on all my longer videos. I do everything knowing I'm not really going to make money at it but I want to share and have fun with yall. I want to make all the people who truly do watch and also care about me as a person happy which is why I decides to show the sweaters and see which one yall would like to make. I think sometimes that I should do memberships but then I feel bad because I do not want to leave anyone out. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place🤣 from a business standpoint, I do this allllllll wrong 🤣🤣🤣

      @@FiberFoxStudios that’s not enough $ for the amount of work, I agree. So either you have to decide to do it as a non-paying hobby, or you have to tweak your system somehow. I hope you don’t stop though. Bag-O-Day took about 10 years to gain the audience she has … so it can definitely take a while. I think if you made more step-by-step tutorials, eventually “they will come”. You’re so good at making tutorials. Your lighting and focus is on point. One can see each stitch. I had zero questions throughout the Farahan Shawl videos. Please keep going.

      You are so sweet and I really do appreciate it. It's a bit too much work at this stage to just be a hobby especially as equipment has to be upgraded or replaced. I am trying to just have fun and not worry about it but at the end of this year I am going to decide if I am going to continue at the same level and pace.

    Dear Courtney - first of all : don't stop laughing ❤❤❤ this is a great idea for a new video. I don't crochet so much blankets but use many patterns to crochet my own cardigans in mosaic crochet technic . But I have little Problems to find the right measurement. And I am searching for ideas to give my cardigan a good finish. I would crochet both styles of cardigans with you, because both give different possibilities for mosaic patterns ( horizontal or vertical) . Most of all I would like a cardigan wich includes more than one mosaic pattern. And : your idea of a top down sweater is good - maybe you should use other colours and not such a big pattern in the first rows. Look at Nordic knitted sweater, they never use great pattern around the neck, more at the bottom... maybe this could be a great idea for autumn/Winter... however , I am excited ❤❤❤ And looking forward for your cardigan video ❤❤❤

    Well girl. You need to finish the 3rd one, I would make "the court juster" you may find it looks nicer the more you get into it... Its an ideal Halloween pattern 😂 you explained the make up for the other tops so that I got it, and I'm brain dead atm lol but could do with a basic video, to refure to, as I need to get through the patterns I won. And I dislike blankets. 🤗😘

    Dear Courtney, I adore each and every pattern you post in here. I have a question regarding cardigan/sweater, when I finish both half sides it turns out V yoke at the end. Can I have it with a different yoke ? Warm regards from Istanbul ❤

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому

      With the construction of the two sides being seamed you will ge that V shape. What I was thinking to change that was to work the pattern repeat again, all rows. from the neckline where you would be seaming on 1 half of the sweater down to the bottom edge. That will create a flap that you can then join to the other side to bring them together. This in my mind anyway 🤣🤣 would give you a more natural fitting neckline. I THINK. does that make any sense? I'm talking about the first sweater shown, flower Power design , hopefully we are talking about the same one. 🤣 I can include this modification in the video I do if it's not making sense trying to explain it. 💙💙💙💙💙

    Es verdad que tienes una risa particular ; como de
    " brujita"; jijij
    Creo que con unos dibujos o esquemas simplificarias la explicación y luego cada persona que decida el mosaico que quiera.
    Otra cosa , el patrón circular a mi me encanta, el naranja es uno de mis colores favoritos y si fuese el cuello más escotado , el tejido más estrecho y de algodón quedaría precioso para una camiseta de tirantes haciendo la parte de abajo Lisa y con algún aumento para darle vuelo, no se si me explicó.
    Espero te guste la idea .

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому

      I take that as a compliment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I started something really similar after the orange sweater wasn't turning out how I hoped. I was thinking that I could do a tank top with a circular misauc yoke, then do increases and build out from that collar/yoke. I had a similar idea in mind for the orange one that the sleeves could be left off for a sleeveless blouse. I just have to find the right construction for both that will make it easy to change size and patterns out. I definitely think you are on to something with your suggestions!! Thank you so much for the ideas. Really appreciate it!!!

      Thank you so much, and you definitely did say please please please🤣🤣🤣 💙💙💙do you think it could be the yarn choice or perhaps you crochet super tight? I used Loops and threads wool like with a 2.75mm hook, the yarn is a size 1. I could definately see how a size 3 or 4 yarn could end up stiff and more like an odd, incomplete turtle neck or just not laying right. What size yarn were you using? I think I need to play around with it in another Size of yarn to see if I start having the same issue as you. I bet the only thing that kept that from happening on mine was the yarn choice 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Love your cardigans ❤
    The explanations you gave are clear to me, I just have one question: what do you do with the ends? Did you sew them in, or did you hide them in some way?
    With regards to the top down sweater: wouldn't raglan be easier then a round yoke? That way the increases are similar to increases you make in a border. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (at least that is what I was thinking, I didn't make one yet. 😁 I'm still in the "I want to make a garment" stage, not in the "tried that" phase)

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому +2

      Great question!!! So I do a knotted bind off on the ending side when working, then I go back to my starting side and do the same bind off. I have a how to bind off video on my how to playlist if you aren't familiar but im pretty sure you are😊😁.
      After I knot everything I sew them in on the back side just a bit and do the knotted bind off again the exact same way and then I clip the ends off. Join on new yarn and do at least one round of Slip Stitch around the edges where those tails were. That cleans up and tightens up my edge so it sews together really well. Let me know if that helps you or if I'm confusing you.
      Great idea on the raglan, I love that. I was trying to keep the design in a circle so to speak, i wanted a curved edge and definitely was going for a fair isle inspired look. But found myself on the fast train to ugly town 😅😅😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💙💙💙💙

    Court jester 🤣😂 I see it now!
    If you would start with a solid in the round then do the mosaic in the chest area and solid on the bottom again, that would work for a sweater, but that won't work the increases and decreases in the mosaic part. 🤔😊

    I came here for the laughter, oh, and also the crochet. I *think* I grasp the construction of the second sweater, but that would be my pick for a tutorial because I am not fully confident in that. Which video would you recommend I watch to see how you deal with all those tails for a wearable? I've done quite a bit of overlay mosaic crochet for blankets with an envelope border, and well as in the round for pillowcases and zippered pouches, but no clothing yet. I look forward to what you can teach me.

    On the sweater that has the 2 colors mosaic at the bottom.How did you get the solid color at the top?Is that just double Crochet's

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 місяці тому

      I started at the top in the doling color doing HDC's, then once my top was done I added in the second color to work the Mosaic. You start at the back on that sweater so you can begin in solid or you can do it in Mosaic like the blue one. I'm not sure if I'm actually being helpful with this answer but I'm trying to be. Please let me know if I completely misunderstood the question. Really sorry if I did.

    Could you repurpose that third sweater's yoke and make it a little doily or tree skirt? If it lays flat enough, you might be able to set a flowerpot or something over the head hole and have no one be any the wiser... it does look much less jester-y from above

      @FiberFoxStudios  2 місяці тому

      It lays perfectly flat, that is the one thing I did get right!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I actually think I'm going to finish out where I was adding my folia pattern in and use it on a table with a bowl sitting in the hole to hide it. 🤣🤣I have a few places I think it will look great . 🤣🤣

    I prefer inset sleeves. I just don't think those knit/crochet seamless garments look good on women - particularly from the back. They make women look like football players. Not good - in my opinion. If you would be so kind, please make a full complete tutorial from a - z. Assume one knows nothing. If you could make a tutorial with inset sleeves technique, that would be great! Thank you. Your creations are wonderful.

      You bring up some very valid points. You look WIDE isn't the sort of thing every gal wants to hear for sure 🤣🤣 BUT I think it's also very important to consider the yarn used. A lot of people use size 4 and a 5mm hook for most projects. The second sweater I showed is in size 1/2 with a 2.75mm hook, and it doesn't create the line backer look. It lays properly in the back. Sweater 1, because I used size 4 and to me it was on the bigger side for a 4, I will NEVER wear it in public EVER. I made it for around the house knowing the outcome was going to be unflattering on me. The next one i make will be in smaller yarn for sure 🤣🤣
      THANK YOU so much for your comment and suggestions. I appreciate the feedback and suggestion for another construction methad to think about and explore. 💙💙💙😘😘
