Not come lately to social issues, Bill contributed $1 million 40 years ago to buy an oil block in Nigeria, nothing unusual except that his partner was a young African immigrant, completely unknown in the oil industry. That young man handed Bill $7m for his trouble, about two weeks later. That began a very long and mutually profitable relationship between the Koch’s and the African oil trader.
