The tornado gets really fat when it gets close to the camera. It was thin when it spawned. When it was getting closer, it started getting from thin to fat
Thanks for the feedback James, I'll try to do better next time. The tornado was initially a long way away, and did get much closer. To be honest I wasn't too worried about the science, it was just a lot of fun learning how to create this in After Effects. There is a bit of math and physics going on, no stock footage.
Hi there. This footage is excellent and would be absolutely perfect for our primary school projection of the Wizard Of Oz we are doing here in Kent, UK. Please let us know how we could get this footage from you, we would really love to use it. Many thanks.
While I accept that a vortex must be in contact with both the ground and the cloud base to be classified as a tornado, turning up the brightness at 4:44 in breach of the scientific method.
Yeah AE, it was for a school stage production, hence the time it takes for the tornado to arrive. Initially hard to look at now, but 9 years ago there weren't a lot of tutorials on how to do this, so I worked with what I had. A massive sky image was create in photoshop and then animated in AE. The tornado is basically shaded spheres in a particle sim, motion blurs and some physics, and a whole lot of experimenting. I didn't have access the flash 3rd party particle plugins, so was what ever was baked into AE. I still love the close up. especially on a big wall sized screen and with kids acting in front of it and spinning house on wheels in front. - Sorry for the late reply.
Hi there, I'm part of a local amateur dramatics group in the UK and we are doing The Wizard of Oz in March, you mention that you are happy for the footage to be used, could you please let me know how we can get this footage from you as it excellent and just what we are after to use for projection on to the stage for the tornado scene. Thanks in advance
Hey... sorry for the delay. bit.ly/Wiznado please add a credit if you can. Edit as you need. Good luck. I f you do end up using and it gets filmed, I'd love to see how it was used. Cheers
I'm here in 2024 and the best tornado ever for the wizard of oz my all time favourite movie
I really like the great footage of this twister
Nice tornado sequence 🌪🏠
Cool how the tornado siren starts before the twister forms.
Early warning system, it involves a complex mix advanced analytics and crystal balls.

Hope the footage works out for your production. Good luck. 🌞
WIND MOVING
If someone brightens their screen at 4:44, you will notice that the tornado is literally detached from the sky.

4:33 The Vocaloid girls have a WINDY DAY
Man at the beginning you know a tornado will come. So pack up fast and leave
If you have to perform the Wizard of Oz musical on stage, unfortunately... you have to stay.
The show must go on!
@@mycoolstoodley easy for you to say
Did you use after effects for the tornado at 4:30/4:31 ?

Fake tornados are no laughing matter.

They didn’t have tornado sirens back then
That's all great, but where's the tornado? Sheesh...
Sorry you missed it, the video was part of the backdrop of a Wizard of Oz performance, it does arrive around 4:30.
