Just the fact that Phil played at a highschool tells you how humble a musician he is.UNREAL PERFORMANCE! Love the Delay. He Truly Is A One Man Band! Blows away any other guitar player I have ever heard! Great songwritting,Great Man,Really Made In God's Image.Amen!
I also wanted to hear this song for 20 years and I also thought it was called "Gospel Train." Took about an hour searching and found it! When I became born-again in 1981 (in a church on 82nd & Pecos, Denver, that Calvary Chapel/Tom Stipe had moved into) I walked into it's bookstore and randomly picked out my first christian cassette tape/album. It was Phli'p Side. Phil has been a great blessing in my life....Thanks Phil!!!
I've wanted to hear this song for about 20 years. Couldn't find it because I did not know the proper name. I thought it was called "Gospel Train". Thank you for sharing it. It was one of my favorites and got a lot of play in the early nineties on Christian Music stations.
Thank you. Not only is PK demonstrating skill, innovation and ability beyond legendary Jimi, but the quality of this recording is great. "Time" is even better than this from this event. It is even better as you realize who Phil serves, compared to others like EC and Jimi.
Phil played this on The Keaggy Stonehill Band tour they did in 1989,it was my first time seeing both of them. Randy was hilarious and Phil was a bit more serious, stopping the band halfway through their first number to retune his guitar, they played really well and really loud!
The item is called an EBOW.. Phil has used them since the 70s. They are really a neat tool for creating violin, viola, cello and horn sounds.. Phil has mastered it quite well over the years!! Search EBow for detailed info!!
We (Dave E and myself) recorded this video and ran the video into a stereo VCR with the audio coming direct from the soundboard.. It was one of the first times we ever recorded that way.. came out nice! Phil was tired and a bit giddy, making the show even more intimate than usual.. one of the nights I really remember as super special! (fun watching the video the next morning with Phil -- he stayed with my wife and me the night of the show..) (He doesn't particularly like watching himself!
If you go to the BANDCAMP.COM site, and search PHIL KEAGGY, the entire audio concert is there! In fact, there are around 125 different concerts and rare releases available! You can listen a couple of times for free, or you can buy and download! Several FREE SHOWS THERE AS WELL!

I heard him at a free intimate concert in Chicago 20 years ago, there were 50 of us there, max. I was sooo blown away.

Have so enjoyed early years of Mr. Keaggy's varied talents in concerts in Long Island, NY, and fill my ears with amazing music!
Wow... The guitar is so amazing I have no words... Phil Keaggy is definitely one of the best guitarists around.
