I see progress in your latest video. Congrats for your hard work and researches. The best channel in this class👍🏻
I bought a 2013 Audi A4 B8 Facelift having 197.000 km. I replaced the following parts:
- Torque converter (1.000 Eur)
- EGR valve (~ 400 eur)
- Brake pump (~ 400 eur)
- Shock absorbers (500 eur)
I still own it at 250.000 km and it's running well.
Same model, 263 k km. Not a single problem, only an ac sensor. I m very happy with it. And I have the multitronic wich is still working like in first day.
Whole new Torque Converter was only 1000 Euros?
@@materix100 good to hear, I have multitronic at 112k miles and it does cause me concern.
@@ln5747 is the stronic and multitronic the same?
@@zanderlukas1248 no, stronic is a dual clutch transmission (exact same as DSG in VW/Skoda) and multitronic is a CVT.
Proud owner of 2008 a4 2.7tdi multitronic 450000 km. Stage 2 tune and still running strong.
Did you have any problem with the multitronic gear?
Holy....what kinda problems did you encounter so far? What did you have to replace?
2.7 tdi best Engine for this car
I have the same car but a Stage 2 tune , I am sure that the Multitronic gearbox is not very happy as it barely Handel’s the stock 400 nm .
i got a4 2.7 tdi 2009 but after reading about multitronic im worried, everything is perfect, but just got check engine for intake manifold flap sensor fault, well mechanic said its nothing to be worried about
The amount of great information in this video is AMAZING!!!
Ended up ordering pizza and lasagna at the end of the video on Uber. Great info, and nice shots of parts described. 👌
More than 2,5 years ago I watched this great informative video and bought a 2014 Audi A4 2.0 TDI (177 ps), with multitronic and with 210.000km. As the timing belt needs to be replaced at 210.000 km, I directly did this and also changed the oil in the transmission. (About €800,- total iirc) Now, I'm 2,5 years further and it has 270.000 km. I replace the engine oil every 15.000 km and use Forte diesel treatment (€20 per bottle) once in a while. I had no issues so far with this car, it turns out to be very reliable! No engine issues, no multitronic issues (that's my biggest fear though, looking at the complexity) and no electronic issues! :)
Thanks for making these videos, it really helps before buying a used car!
By the way, it would be nice if you do a review for the Audi A4 B9 :)
Changing your oil every 10k would be good for the car
This was the best rewiev off any car I saw.
Congrats
Very thorough and informative advice, Thank you !
Great video as always and the new improvements to video editing as superb. Could you please consider making videos on Skodas, Volvos and other popular cars in EU?
I had an 07 Audi A4 and it was a constant disappointment in terms of reliability. Lots of recalls, electrical issues and a problematic turbo. At just over 50K miles, the turbo failed completely--a $4,000 repair. From an engineering standpoint, there's no excuse for this. The 2.0 turbo has been around forever. You'd think that, by now, Audi/VW would have this engine sorted out. The fact that you have to tell consumers about all the problems Audi owners face is unfortunate. BTW, your video is very thorough.
Thank you so much for such a detailed buyer's guide. It is extremely helpful
Man super thorough video! Thank you.
Love your videos you are the only one who makes me think hard of a car I want to buy :)
Thank you very much for the insightful work
Great research work, well presented. Thank you and keep up the good job. Subscribed.
thank you mate. Great video, Love my Avant B8
Thank you VERY much for this video. Currently looking at a 2014 A4 manual with 110k miles (post facelift and 2014 refresh). It's in very good shape, no rust anywhere. The young age and high miles means it was mainly a highway driver, no concern for stop-n-go wear. Very comfortable car and easy stick (not super sporty like a GTI, which is my main ride). Spasiba!
Might not see this comment but how is it? Currently in highschool and my parents proposed to cover my first car and i wanna know if this is a good option?

Great video like always.👍
And if you can make a video of lexus GS made from 2012 please, Thanks.
What a fantastic video! I'm just looking at buying a 2008 A4 2.0 TFSI.... I'm glad i watched this first. Thank You!
Tw0sp00n I would not buy a 2006-20013 TFSI Model! Almost all of of them have a bad Piston design and drink Oil like crazy.
To fix it, you need to take out the Pistons and get them Updatet by a Specialist.
2.0TDI or 3.0TDI is the Engine to Go. 👍
Make sure the previous owner didn’t douche it out and cut the frame for stancing!
even if the previous owner changed the timing chain
Super Informative!

Lovely review!
Nice job. I have owned a B8 for 9 years. All of the issues you referred to, I have experienced. Still love my Avant. 👍🏁
What year is yours? Diesel or benzin
Oh crap
Very informative. Thanks
This is great info thanks
I own the A4 B8 since 2010. The 1L oil usage per 1000km was the main issue. Audi told me that is normal. I changed the garage & I received a brand new engine in 2014 for free & have had no issues since then. In 2020 the right front bearing failed & the air condition pump leaked. That is not bad after 10 years. I still have the car & love it.
How concerned are you with timing chain issues? Looking into a 2012 but the stuff people say about them scares me lol
@@connormclaughlin6079 zero concerned as I got the updated engine

2010 A4 1.8T Sline - had to replace pistons at 100k km's but still drives and looks like she is fresh out of the factory!
The worst-ranked problem by Car Complaints for all Audi A4 model years is excessive oil usage, which is a complaint that seems to appear in every model year. In fact, it is the most commonly-reported problem across all years. Though most model years have complaints of excessive oil usage or burning oil, the problem appears worst in the 2011 Audi A4. According to Car Complaints, this problem happens around 64,000 miles and costs owners an average of $6,000 to repair, earning a severity rating o
I own a A4 2010 TDI Sline model ... You sir mentioned everything possible but good review I appreciate it , I had a few problems with the car that can help you guys reduce some major problems
-If you have Automatic Transmission , change the oil often ... do not put it on Neutral at all only for emergency , If you wanna save money from gas just don't push the gas pedal at all if you are downhill
-Do not push the gas pedal all the way in at once , do not hold the gas pedal all the way in for too long or all
The reason why , the video will show the leaks on different car parts ... that's from pushing your car to the limits
-
Would you explain how do you define "limit"? How about driving 150kmh ?
DR LU wtf I drive an 135i BMW I always push the mofo to the limit NO LEAKS , POS Audi
it is said that they often have problems with the Erg valve, high pressure pump, injectors, is this true?
@@markozivkovic1392 EGR was a big issue other than that it was a o k
@@markozivkovic1392 but it's mostly when there is a lot of KM done into it when EGR starts falling down but it's really a great reliable car
Thanks for the valuable informstion
I wanted to buy an A5 with Multitronic transmission, and being a camper with a 750kg trailer, I was concerned about the CVT, and a Audi Technician confirmed my concerns. CVT is not recommended for towing. So, I guess I'm going to have to get me an A4, hopefully an Avant. Love the styling of the stationwagon :-). I currently have the B6 A4 petrol, with almost 285,000 on the clock, and is still a smooth ride. I have a few interested people who wants to buy it, as it is very well looked after. Thanks for the tips in this video.
The Avant is what I’d like to get, however, I gotta be ok with paying for repairs and doing maintenance in the car. I’ve never owned an Audi before so I just have to be ok with expensive parts. These cars look so good and I hear good things about the reliability, you just have to maintain them.
Bought my Audi 1.8T 2008 model with 184k on clock, in awesome condition, only problems are the doors stopped working, started with 1 then 3 now are intermitent, replaces front 2 motors as they seem to be the problem..uses a little oil from time to time, but thats it..smooth
Definitely replace the PCV for high oil consumption. The PCV also went through an iteration of improvement. Shocks can fail only 150km. The turbo linkage can fail somewhere around 200km and the turbo will need to be fully replaced. Shocks can fail at on Audi fixed so many issues across their entire line in 2016 so highly recommend 2016+ vehicles. Brakes and MT/clutch are incredibly resilient if you know how to drive. 267km on my 2011 A4 MT.
Waw! Best review ever! Very good job!
Mister different car review, can you please make a video about Mercedes CLK? I've been wanting to buy one but not sure which model to pick engine etc...

Hey man, do you have information about buying a used VW Scirocco. Common issues, etcs.
Specially the Scirocco R type. Thank you
Wow! Thank you for all this precious information...
I have an A4 2.0 TDI Estate S Line Special edition, and using the more expensive diesel fuel and quality oil makes a huge difference to performance and reliability.
it is said that they often have problems with the EGR valve, high pressure pump, injector, is this true?
Best car ever.
i have a 2009 multitronic, the gearbox has done 400000 kms, with regular oil change. just the computer box for the gearbox packed up once. i have changed pistons at 150k and the chain at 386kms
Nice, exactly what I needed :) I own a B8 since about two years, it's the 3.0 TDI 245HP Quattro S-Line version, but it's a high mileage car. I now have about 250.000 km on it, it still drives perfectly smooth, but since you mentioned it, I do need to take a look at the timing chain, it's never been replaced and probably worn out... Allthough I don't hear any concerning noice. But otherwise, I never had any problems with the car except for wear parts like brakes etc. and for one thing - Recently, the tensioner for the belt, which drives the alternator, the power steering pump and the AC compressor (so NOT the timing belt tensioner), has just fell off while the car stood there. Well, easy fix, not expensive, but the car had to be towed to my local mechanic.
Same here, i have exactly the same tipe of audi like you with 240.000 km..it's a very good car. I've changed only brakes and discs a stuff like that.. I Wish you many km ahead
Don't be silly, 250 000 km is not high mileage, it's quite average for these cars. The diesel engines especially should be good for 400k+ if you change oil regularly (every 8000-10000 k, and not one kilometer more!), use only high quality oil, and don't ignore any obvious problems.
Please more videos!
I’ve had many problems with this car now fixed. 1. Oil consumption (replaced piston, piston rings, and software update) $ few grand considering Audi gave me a partial warranty after weeks of pestering them.
2. Lights going out (easy diy)
3. Hpfp (easy diy)
4. O2 sensor cost few grand forgot exactly how much
5. Camshaft position sensor cost few hundred
Regardless what the video entails is pretty accurate.
I drive Audi A4 b8 2009 Quattro. Drives nice but I still worry in future what problems will arise. Possibly have to replacement control arms a grand if diy.
GOAT Life how many miles?
Where can I get piston and rings to buy for the A4 2011 model
if u are buyin a b8 a4 it will burn oil! either have 2-3k set aside for piston ring rebuild or always have a 5 qt jug in the trunk other than that these are excellent cars, super fun to tune and build and handle way better than the competitors
I bought one second hand with a mechatronic unit issue. What’s your best advice on fixing such a problem?
thank you
We had a pre Facelift model of this A4. We made 330.000 kilometers on this Car without major issues. But like menshioned the Doorlocks tend to fail. At the end of our ownership 3 of the 4 doors (including the Drivers door) where brocken.

I bought the early 2012 model a few months back. Still had the oil consumption problem. Now it’s getting worst as it only took almost 2 weeks to consume the oils after maintenance. I’m hoping overhaul will fix this.
Well I did pretty good getting a 2012 that already had the timing chain with updated tensioner installed a few months before I bought the car. The front upper control arm bushings do tend to fail at around 120,000 miles and I had some peeling on the electronic parking brake switch.

As a 5-year owner of a premium plus a4 b8 from 2011 here's the best advice I can give you: Don't. Engines (Pistons & Rings) are flawed by design and yours WILL fail. Audi will not stand by their product and now I have a very expensive paperweight.
You have to tell us what engine you have. I only know that the 1.8TFSI and 2.0TFSI have problems with the piston rings.

All of the A4 2009 2.0l Diesel have a flywheel issue , it start vibrating at low RPM and get worst with time . My car stat vibrating at 120.000 km till 220.000km i sold the car now.

If you ever want to buy the Audi A4 B8, do your checking before you buy and get some cache a side for a complete clutch replacement 2.400 euro at VW dealer. The new clutch and fly-wheel are from the new generation and should not have that issue anymore.
Drive your car gentle and all will be fine.
