Are kilo bars of silver any good? I think they are amazing and everybody should own a 1 kilo bar of silver. They are very good sizes for storage of your silver and portability of your wealth. They are however beholden to the value of spot price. But, you can enjoy them and hold your silver and hold your wealth in your hands and appreciate how amazing and dense silver really is!

Awesome hedge against inflation and demand.
Great ! you should get some smaller deniminations too.

I’m glad I’m thinking about this stuff at 15, I’m gonna get my first job when the summer starts and I think I’m gonna save most my money in silver kilos
do it wish i wouldve done it
You can also melt the bars into 1 oz silver coins, as you get older, and feel the need to use them. I would also highly recommend buying Gold for long term savings (for example to finance your house or something similar) and silver also for long term, but also emergencies. For example, in the case of the dollar loosing its value completely, to buy food and other nessecary goods with it directly from farmers.
Same I’m 16 and going to buy my first 1oz gold coin and two 250g silver bars.
Yes! Get some good HONEST money saved up!
Rule of thumb is 70/30 of whichever metal you feel stronger in...usually gold/silver. The kilo bars make good doorstops! 😄
I was so pleased with my 1 kilo silver bar...just lovely. Like the feel of it & the weight of it in my hand.
It's an amazing thing!

Im more of a fan of 10 oz bars. They are more liquid on the 2nd hand market.
I am also a big fan of 10 oz bars I think they are a very good size
I know it's weird, but I'm the same way. 1,2,4,5,10,100 oz bars are my favorite simply because it's an exact amount of ounces and I can quickly look at prices per ounce and know what I have. I mean, if I got a great deal on an odd weight, I'm not dumb, I would buy it.
@@elitefitness341 you and I are like minded. Nevertheless, squire more
Always easier to buy then to sell.🤔
Silver is extremely liquid. Even the 1000 ounce bars are trivially easy to sell, and the spreads are less, the larger the size. The disadvantage of larger sizes is simply that they are physically large and heavy. You can fit 1000,1 ounce bars in a short safe deposit box that will not fit a 1000 ounce bar, because it's too tall. On the other hand, it's much easier to pick up 1 object than 1000 objects. Also, 1000 troy ounces is ~68 pounds. A lot of people just can't lift that, sadly.
I learn a lot. Thanks. Each time they banged together the noise they make is enjoyable
Here in Japan most of the big precious metal houses only trade silver in a 30kg block. When I look at their websites I get lots of popup ads for chiropractors.
Interesting - that is a big old block of silver!
@@BackyardBullion Apparently its about the size of a large tissue box.
That not correct

i ll take those 1000 ounce bars no problem
I feel like having a few kilo of these bars are vital to savings. I am going to hopefully have 5-10 of these stashed away for future investments.
For me smaller bars are the way forward because if you need to swap them for anything they are easier to trade as opposed to a large bar that you would need change from or cutting down to size
Yea these would be for maybe a cow purchase once shtf. Not sure rancher wants the 1 kilo though
There is no law saying you can't have both. Do you only carry $5 bills in your wallet or do you have a few $20s, $50s, and $100s?
I've tried the 1oz coins, 10oz bars, 1kg bars, and 5kg bars. The 5kg bar is hilariously heavy but very impractical. 1k is a nice weight and good feel. That feeling you get when you hold one is hard to describe. The coins, yeah they're probably more useful for day to day stuff if we ever get to that point but i'm not as big a fan of them. I have taken a liking to the 10oz bars though. They are a great mix of practicality and that feeling you get when you hold them.
I AGREE WITH THE SPECIAL SENSATION WHILST HOLDING AND HANDLING SILVER. I STRUGGLE TO PUT MINE BACK IN THE SAFE AFTER CHECKING IT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT, I HAVE ???? 1KG BARS to play with.
Definitely with you on this one. For pouring stock, stackers or dare I say “investors”.. A practical size and slight cosmetic damage really doesn’t matter. Not as easy to trade as a coin but the low premiums on bars can’t be ignored 🙂👍🏽

Yes, very true
i buy junk silver for buying eggs or bread etc, large purchases may be of secondary importance should things really break down

Thank you very much!
the kilo and size around it was one main reason for the run on silver in 2011... the dealers were short for large amounts, and then the smaller just went crazy... so if there's going to be another run... you'll get more for the large size believe it or not
It's always fascinating to me how the human brain perceives volume based on shape. Even at the 5oz bar size there's tons of variety, some of which people would probably swear are under or over 5oz at first glance.
Those bars also might have less than a gram of impurities. From what I understand, a lot of .999 silver may actually be higher purity than marked to a degree, its just most mints can't guarantee they will be so they settle for a blanket .999 label that can be met 100% of the time. Would be an interesting experiment to see the exact differences with a Sigma machine!
Yeah totally - most silver bars have a assay rating of about 9997 silver so its very little impurities in the grand scheme of things. Thanks for stopping by!
I started buying 10-oz silver bars on a monthly basis and a 1-Kilo bar every 6 months since 12 years ago.

I don't own any kilo bars but I am a proud owner of a 2015 kilo kookaburra and a 2017 Congo gorilla, both in capsules
Where do you buy a kilo silver capsules?
Glad to find this video even a year after the fact. I'm debating between a Kilo (beautiful and nice weight) and even numbered bars because when it comes to reselling, I do wonder if 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 ounces are just easier to sell down the road. Good informative video. 👍🏼
Hi Mary J, I have wondered the same thing in the past. What I have decided to do is to diversify by buying silver in different weights and shapes. I have a solid kilo bar but I also have kilos of silver in "silver slivers" (shavings) and in "silver shot" (BBs). If I am ever in a position to sell my silver, then the silver slivers or shot will be much more divisible so as to more accurately pay for something or to find a buyer for. Not everyone will be able to afford the Kilo bar.
@@jayduffy7615 Great advice! What I've done is exactly what you said, diversify. In the long run, smaller amounts are easier to sell for those of us without immediate connections to dealers/buyers. I love the idea of the Kilo, 100, and 1,000 oz. as both a cool looking bar and a way to get more bang for your buck.
There is just something about holding that 1 kilo bar, especially if it is one of great beauty like a Geiger Edelmetalle bar. The feel, the look, the history of the metal, it all comes together. Makes you feel like Scrooge McDuck.
ikr ... or you could take the “might” ink dollar bill which is likewise produced to infinity.
If you want to dive into your pile of gold and silver like scrooge mcduck, they need to be coins/rounds. Also, wear a helmet if you decide to do this.

I like 10oz bars and 5oz easy to sell if needed kilo is good for long term investment
I currently own 3 1oz Britannias and a 1oz una and the lion bar been collecting for a month really want a 10 oz coin next but also really the thought of having an acutal bar now
I prefer 5 oz and 10 oz silver bars but i agree it must be a good feeling also owning a 1 kilo silver bar! 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Got a few Kg Bars and I do like them quite a lot :) Nice for stacking. I also have one 1kg coin. At first I preferred the bars, but the kilo coin is growing on me. Now I'm contemplating picking up the 1Kg Lunar III Ox coin and then hunting down a 1kg Lunar III Mouse, but that would mean committing to the whole 12 coin set!
I can remember not to long ago a kilo of gold was $30,000 then within a few months went to $70,000 but since it’s back to a little over $60,000 but still you doubled your investment n less than a year.
I have got a kilo silver bar that i bought a year before covid and has already gone up over the price i paid for it! need to enjoy it more though, as at the moment its sealed in a plastic bag in a big wooden box this video has made me think i should get it out more!
i am saving and in 3 years time i should have one of those
Get a different job that pays more and get the bar now before you will have to pay 100 x spot price in three years.
I'm a delivery driver and 1 weeks pay buys me 1kg of silver. It's pretty cheap right now.
@Blue Collar Silver Dollar I'm making £700 a week. From just that.
I have been looking at Vulture Peak Mines Kilo bar. They have a hefty premium but I really like their poured lines in their bars and how they hand stamp each bar. I have bought from them before and they have good customer service.
It depends. Kilo bars are for the really rich people. For the average joe 1 troy ounce coins or bars are a much better investment/choice. When the system collapses it's better to have 33x1 troy ounce bar than a 1 kilobar. As medium of exchange small units are recommended.
Nice video. I only got into silver collecting just over 2 months ago and my very first silver purchase was a 1 kilo Sunshine Mint bar. Unfortunately, one ounce pieces fit into my measly budget much better. BTW, I certainly understand wanting those bars to be shiny but if you're only going to melt them anyway why bother?

I like my 20oz scottsdale skinny bars they feel good and can easily be used as a weapon. It doesn't get better feeling than that. It's just long enough to wack a mole with.
I buy 5oz, 10oz, and kilos, and its good to have silver rounds too. After you buy enough of the little stuff in case of you have barter later, then you can concentrate on the bigger bars for long term savings. This all depends on you financial needs. Watch your gold to silver ratio in case you have too much silver, convert to gold for better storage and easier to travel with.
Kilo is an excellent size Bar. I like the old ENGLHARD 100 OZ, and the 10oz Bars also. Excellent video. Keep Stacking!!
Love the old englehards for sure.
I machined 6x6 tungsten cubes..lawd they were crazy heavy..
Yeah, they are mad heavy!
A SIMPLE test for purity of a silver kilo bar is by the water displacement method. Silver has a density of 10.49 grams per cubic centimeter. As such, your 999 fine silver kilo should have a volume of just over 95.3288 ml.
For me personally it has to be the Umicore Bars. You have the looks and feeling of what the classic bullion bar should look like. Cheers BYB for sharing.
I purchased a 100 oz bar sometime back for 15000.00.. I thought I was being eccentric.. but it turned out to be a good deal and I really enjoy picking it up!
You paid too much.
That could make an interesting video... polishing up one of those kilo bars then comparing it side by side with the unpolished one. Would be good to see how you do it. 👍
I might do it, I also might not as these bars are meant to be like this!
I'll risk being a total muppet about it...
1) Umicore is Belgian. Sort of German but not really really. I said "french fries" once and two dutch guys handed me my ass while yelling "it's Belgian fries!!!". Origin really matters 🙊
2) Feels like the earth is pulling the tungsten down? I know right!...it's called gravity. They made a movie about it 🤣

The kilo size is the international accepted weight for bullion. It’s the best bang for your buck by far.
I agree but my preference is 100 oz. Bars...
Really enjoyed your views and advice. Just subscribed. Thanks for making this video.
Generally I prefer 10ozt bars, pocketable but with a decent nice heft to it, a kilo bar might make a nice desk ornament though.
It certainly does make a very good ornament piece I usually have one of them out at any time just to play with!
I enjoy the diversity of having both bars of various size and all sorts of coins.
Tax on silver. No tax on gold. I like the aesthetic of gold and silver. I want it as an investment too. I'm not a money head but would like a return when it comes time to sell it. So that means I want a balance of an attractive piece of metal with low premiums that will hold its value. Just getting started but videos like these help paint the picture. Cheers.
The VAT we pay in the UK just doesn't make silver worth it. I'd stick to gold where possible.
I either met the same dealer or they read about this other dealer cos I know someone who has done the same thing with a 1000oz bar, painted black and it is still there today...only a few people know it, the address of the shop but he seems thrilled about it.
It is a fairly common story - I cannot remember where I heard it but it does make some interesting thinking!
I think is was a story I heard from international stacker he is also doing a giveaway I would check him out!
Received my Metalor 1 kilo fine silver bar today. 🤗
A lady from the highly reputable London dealer i bought it from told me that currently they have no more Metalor kilo bars. She said she doubts if any dealer has any in the country at present.
I would love to have a kilo bar or two. They look awesome! Maybe a gift to myself when I pay off my credit card debt next year. Right now the biggest bar I have is a 10 ouncer
Very wise move to pay off all your credit cards first. Starve the banks and buy silver (and gold).

Kilo bar is hard to sell in europe - best deals go pear to pear. Just out of curiosity one made offer to local coin dealer and it was way below spot :( Gold is different story.
It really all depends on the premium you pay. The other day I bought 1oz silver rounds at SD Bullion for the same premium as a kilo bars so it was a no-brainer to go with the rounds.

Decided to buy my first silver when I heard about the GameStop debacle.
Investors were starting to turn to precious metals and all of a sudden, all the sites were selling out of anything made of fine silver.
I decided to buy what I could afford from the available stock. Settled on a 1kg silver bar and even then, the product is delayed because of the volume of requests.
looking back on the price of silver; one can plainly see that while there are dips, silver has never stopped growing in value throughout history.
It's just a matter of holding on to it long enough(10-20 years) or possibly finding a rare opportunity to make a short term profit by flipping metal.
Anyway, I have definitely started to pay attention to the price of precious metals...
@@xXxJSCOTTxXx premiums are crazy right now.
When things settle premiums will come down and there's a good chance of a big dip on the horizon, if that happens, you need to be ready for it, factor that in and good luck!

Everybody should Own a Kilo (Bar) of Gold!
I have and like a variety, including one Kilo round I got very cheap. The bulk are smaller bars and coins for easier selling. But I got to say, I love the heft of the Kilo.
A week ago i saw a new 1 kilo coinbar from StoneX on a site and it was love at first sight! I already ordered it, can't wait for it to arrive ...
I can see where price of silver is headed so prefer 1 oz or fractional for easier trade and barter. The big bars will def need melting down.
I like the idea of bars, they feel like wealth. My perspective is this. Why do you want it? Is it as an investment? Probably not, but if so, then the most popular is what you want - 1 to 10 ounce rounds and bars. Is it as a store of wealth? Maybe, or maybe as an insurance policy. As a store of wealth, larger bars probably make more sense. But if the purpose is for SHTF insurance, then a combination of larger and smaller makes sense. You would want smaller for smaller transactions, and larger for the store of wealth aspect.
Don’t have one yet by working on it
Thanks for sharing
It's a very good goal to aim for!
What do you think of the 100 ounce bars of silver?
Nice, love them but you cannot be spending more than 5% to 10% over spot for them
I have several hundred ounces of silver, but no kilo bars. I always buy gold when I have that much extra to spend, but you're making me want one. Hand poured silver is my favorite.

This Pleb likes 5 & 10oz bars if can afford. The Kilos to look nice, especially the long ones. Geiger or Germanian makes nice ones too.
I also am a big fan of the Kilo size. Could you recommend - what you believe to be - the best place to acquire at the lowest possible price a small quantity of these ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
Very nice, and dealers will probably love it if I need to sell it. Not too sure how practical it is for a barter type scenario. Maybe good to have a certain percentage in 1k bars as an investor. Please know your dealer and whom you can sell if needed. If you are thinking about desperate situations, this may not be the best choice.
I would enjoy them, but part of my stacking plan stems from my prepper standpoint so I'd only own them for property acquisitions and wouldn't do much for barter leverage situations. My Canadian, British and US constitutional silver coins are in paper tubes instead of plastic for quiet transportation plans

Ive been silver bars for 25 yeas and have 73 pobs moving them when you need to , my sovereigns are better storage and playing wiht.
1oz coins are good to own too. never know when or if you will need to barter if things go bad.

Exactly! A 100oz bar is where it’s at. That’s what people expect when they hear a bar of silver.
Buy your bullion in every fractional weight size available then sell what you need. Then you don't waist the investment by selling more than you need

Bars are only better if you believe industrial demand will be the main driver of Silver prices going forward. If you believe investment demand will be the driver, bullions are preferable because they are more in demand and easier to sell. If you believe that you might need Silver to buy stuff during a currency crisis, 1oz bullion is also preferable.
Germania Mint is on fire right now in my opinion, they have a awesome bars.

I want to buy a 10z Silver Bullion but the tax on it is ridiculous.
Like the 1000 Oz bars betters, but i can understadd if the peasantry like the 1 kilo bar.
I think both of you are wrong. I used to think the 1000 oz bars were more enjoyable than the kg bars too. that’s all I would keep around. I found that I can’t enjoy my (mainly) gold and silver at all when there are a bunch of 1000 oz good-delivery or even 1kg bars in there.
I therefore have had my big bars melted into smaller rounds and coins, and I built a much bigger vault for them, so I could enjoy them.
My brother Donald gave me the idea on how to set up my vault many years ago, when he fell in.
Now I enjoy my gold and silver using this method daily. If you TRULY want to enjoy your riches, Smaller denominations are the way to go.
