I’d say anyone who would accept silver as “payment” in a barter situation would already recognize what Pre ‘65 constitutional silver is... I personally would trust the Pre ‘65 silver for authenticity over the modern silver proof coins. Good video!

Speaking directly with Tim was very helpful. He was very kind within his time. He explained to me that these quarters had to be removed from a pure silver set of the major coins of any given year and just the quarters placed in a tube. This was a rare find Yankee. Well done!
Yep, as long as the government doesn’t assign an official value to it and people trade it more than face it is barter. Someone might want to negotiate a different price if all you have is slick or under-weight silver.
My argument against the quarter proofs is that in a barter situation you'd have to educate them past the 25 cent perception. The advantage of fractional round silver in barter situations is that the perception barrier is removed and you're just bartering with an uneducated trade partner in terms of pure silver and not a recognizable legal tender that they will apply past experience to. I had to explain to my wife how an American Eagle silver dollar was valued more than the face value and it took some doing. Her response was something like, "well if it's worth so much, why did they make it only a dollar?" I almost pulled the last of my hair out. Obviously that argument goes away if we encounter sustained SHTF periods where people come around to understanding what you and I already do but early on, I'm not so sure we want prolonged debates about quarter values.
I’ve run these tests in the past too, James. Even did a video on trying to buy coffee with an American silver eagle! We’re not there right now in our society, but when our very lives depend on it I believe the education that you speak of will happen quite rapidly! Thanks for the great comment.
Plus it's much more difficult to counterfeit slightly worn silver quarters as opposed to silver bars, as in a SHTF situation, you also have to consider that most people you'd be bartering with (farmers, hunters, beer makers) won't have one of those metal identifiers to screen for silver clad counterfeits.
@@YankeeStacking You're an optimist Yankee, and I love that about you. Personally, I agree with James. I think people are so disconnected with what money really is, and what history really is, that they'll be the frog in the pot of boiling water and never understand what happened. I've been buying 90% silver quarters and dimes. I think it's good to understand the price of copper is at a 10 year high. So that also effects the price of these.
I completely agree junk silver is definitely the best SHTF /bartering / or as I call it “survival silver”! It’s a shame the fractional bullion has such high premiums, because that technically would be the best due to clearly saying 999 fine silver on the round. But constitutional is where’s it at! Great video Yankee!!

Great video. My LCS has, in the past, included those state silver proof coins in with his junk silver. I bought as many as I could at the time (this was a couple of years ago). I didn't see any more state proof silver quarters in his junk after that. After watching your video, I went down to his shop and asked him if he had any state quarter silver proof sets. He had 18 sets (97 quarters)! He sold them to me at 3% over spot. I am happy.
The sound of silver plinking on the table or against other silver is one of the identifiers of silver coins. It's a cheerful, authentic sound, instead of the generic metal sound made by today's quarters and dimes. Today's coins could just as well be electrical box knock-outs, from the sound of them.

Keep buying quarter rolls from my credit union. They must have some machine that separates the silver from the clad, as I haven’t found a silver quarter in almost a year. Perhaps Brinks does it. I am amazed.
It is key to stack and hold thus always improving your position. It is cool to have goals and favorites. Don't give up silver for silver. Diversify your stack by adding different types of silver. Silver means you always have discipline, vision, options, security and victory.
I agree, great choice, especially when it comes to wear, and it could be the same way for dimes and half dollars , even nickles ( if you choose to go that route) . Have a golden day brother.
I've been avoiding those State proof quarters for a long time like they were the plague, but since you logically explained there's no wear on them, and there's more silver weight to them, I'm going to buy some. At least a tube of them, or more.
4:59 nice! I managed to get a few of these as a replacement for promised pre-1965 in an eBay auction. Gotta day I was skeptical and first but then pleasantly surprised. Think I’ll get more!!!
Yes, they sure did. Part of it was the increase in silver prices from earlier in the year, but it seems that many of the 5 coin sets are selling for close to $30 each lately on Ebay, which imo is a huge premium for sets that really weren't that popular for silver stackers.
I pick up rolls of 90% dimes at melt or less all the time. I also have a good number of fractional 999 silver rounds. It’s all about finding deals, not focusing on a certain “type”.
I agree with you 💯 percent Yankee. I buy up all the proofs I possibly can at melt or even below melt in some cases because the lack of metal loss. Great video and advice as always! 👌🏻
Dimes and quarters are the best because of the small denomination. I buy all 90% junk depending on what looks the best at my LCS , and I love getting proofs from the junk silver bin
Constitutional silver is the best way in my mind to stack fractional silver. Great for bartering and other low cost purchases for SHTF scenarios. I always buy the frosty pre 64 cause it has all the silver there and none of the metal weight has been rubbed or worn off. My goal is to have at least a minimum of a $1,000 face value. I'm about 16% of the way there. So a few more years and goal complete. Thanks for the video Yankee. It warms my heart to watch your videos and I appreciate the hard work it takes to make these videos. Hours of time spent that we appreciate you for doing.
Another great video! Yankee Good topic. I've picked up 90% constitutional the last 3 nights while I'm at work. Let's see what tonight brings me. Buying on the way down!!! Thanks ✌
@11:45 - At first listening his coin dealer paid $195 which was only $1 above the then current melt value. However, Tim must have had the coins for some time to have know they were hard to sell, so it’s likely the spot silver price, and therefore the melt value, was somewhat lower at his time of acquisition. Nevertheless, a highly attractive coin at a highly attractive price/premium. Great video! 🧨
My LCS guy puts the proof State quarters (in tubes) in with the regular pre-1965 quarters and I can grab as many of those coins as I want for the same premium/price. I try not to take advantage though.
You are on to something. I’ve buying these since February 2020 for the exact reason. In fact I ran he idea by Silver Dragons and he kind of dismissed it. It was his opinion and I chose to ignore it. You rock Yankee keep up the great videos.

Wow! You’re definitely on to something!! Thanks so much!!
Great idea man!
I Believe!!!
I agree, great choice, especially when it comes to wear, and it could be the same way for dimes and half dollars , even nickles ( if you choose to go that route) . Have a golden day brother.
Gibby, if only they SOLD new proof 90% half’s and dimes!
Yankee Stacking , True .
I've been avoiding those State proof quarters for a long time like they were the plague, but since you logically explained there's no wear on them, and there's more silver weight to them, I'm going to buy some. At least a tube of them, or more.
NICE! 👊🏼
Got it. Thanks
I think junk silver, silver eagles/maple leaves and gold are the 3 you should focus on for shtf.
4:59 nice! I managed to get a few of these as a replacement for promised pre-1965 in an eBay auction. Gotta day I was skeptical and first but then pleasantly surprised. Think I’ll get more!!!
I’m glad you were pleasantly surprised! Thanks for watching! 👌🏼
Good video with useful information. The premiums on the jumped quite a bit.
Thanks for watching. 👌🏼
Yes, they sure did. Part of it was the increase in silver prices from earlier in the year, but it seems that many of the 5 coin sets are selling for close to $30 each lately on Ebay, which imo is a huge premium for sets that really weren't that popular for silver stackers.
@@jzak5723 Yes, the sets demand a premium. And in my opinion a silly one that I'm not interested in. 🤷🏼♂️
Beautiful silver!!
Great to know of any different options available that will help to maximize my buying power.
Where should we get them? Thanks 👍
See my pinned comment. Thanks for watching. 👌🏼
@@YankeeStacking thanks
I pick up rolls of 90% dimes at melt or less all the time. I also have a good number of fractional 999 silver rounds. It’s all about finding deals, not focusing on a certain “type”.
Thanks for watching! 👌🏼
Great idea!
Thanks for watching! 👌🏼
I’m brand new to all this.... but trying to learn! You gave me a lot of good information, thank you 😊🇺🇸
Available now at monument metals
I agree with you 💯 percent Yankee. I buy up all the proofs I possibly can at melt or even below melt in some cases because the lack of metal loss. Great video and advice as always! 👌🏻
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the awesome video I never thought of collecting them
Hey there! Would 40 of these ($10 face value) at $255 be a good buy? So sorry, just starting my stacking process and need a bit of guidance
Wow, Yankee. When I first started watchin u, u had like 1500 subscribers. Now over 18,000? Well done and well deserved. You always give great content.
Wait..........you were watching me back then?? THANKS White Boy...that's Cool! 😂👌🏼
@@YankeeStacking hahaha...so are u!
I so appreciate those VERY kind words!!! You’re support of my channel means a lot. Thanks. And yes, constitutional silver ROCKS!
Another great video! Yankee
Good topic. I've picked up 90% constitutional the last 3 nights while I'm at work. Let's see what tonight brings me. Buying on the way down!!!
Thanks ✌
Good for you! Buy it as far down as it goes! 👌🏼👌🏼
Great idea
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching. 👌🏼
My LCS guy puts the proof State quarters (in tubes) in with the regular pre-1965 quarters and I can grab as many of those coins as I want for the same premium/price. I try not to take advantage though.
That’s really cool!
I agree
You are on to something. I’ve buying these since February 2020 for the exact reason. In fact I ran he idea by Silver Dragons and he kind of dismissed it. It was his opinion and I chose to ignore it. You rock Yankee keep up the great videos.
I talked with SD about it too. He and I don’t always agree, but that’s the cool thing about our community! It’s still SILVER! 👌🏼👌🏼
I was born in 1980 and I remember the bank was selling bags of $500 face value junk silver for face value , I was 9 years old with my grandfather.
What a coincidence! Just placed order for $5 face value silver dimes and $10 half dollars yesterday! Just liquidated some Silver Eagles and will replenish my stack with these "junk" silvers. Will definitely take a look at silver statehood quarters.
Very well done, Zhicao! 😃👌🏼
Yeah, my local dealer isn't selling them so cheaply. Maybe if they sit in his inventory awhile he'll reconsider. Nice deal!
Barter is going to be tough with all the counterfeit stuff
Especially tough in the dark when the grid goes down and the batteries die. Candlelight balance scales will rule.
I love your videos yankee
Thank you so much! I have a TERRIBLE sprained ankle from last night and that comment made me feel much better. 😊👌🏼
Great video and good points made here Yankee!
Thanks man!
Australian 1966 50c is the best. Beautiful size, very hard wearing, 80% silver, 3 equal one ounce of silver, only one year to worry about.
Cool Dean! 👌🏼
