    NB- Pex is destroyed by uv light-make sure any exposed toilet supplies are covered with something; metal sleeve, etc. Inside cabinets probably safe though.

    Really need to make sure with a lot of your comments, such as 7' height shower heads, body spray or hand held must level with valve and so on with some of the plumbing, is your personal preference. because when you are doing a custom house you doing it for someone who spending a shit ton of money they get what they want not what you think the need, No matter how stupid it may sound. Thats what you do

      Yes of course! Showers and the custom components can get tricky. We didn’t cover those in this video

    I know this is an old video but it just popped up on my feed. Looks like someone took the low bid from the plumber, always ask yourself Would you take the low bid on a heart transplant?

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  2 роки тому

      It wasn’t the low bid. It was someone I used quite regular and then something changed with him. It’s too bad because he did great work before all this.

      Thank you! Always improving and once you think you know it all, that’s when things go bad.

    All cleanouts have to be accessible per "code". As for gluing them? Ah, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a cleanout?

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  2 роки тому

      Good point. At least make sure they are tight. Nothing worse than locating a strange leak.

      @@uptokode Gluing cleanouts? That's common sense?

  • @kathyern861

    Your shirt says "kode" - a play on "code" - I am a "code" guy too. When you were talking about securing pex water lines. Yes, securing them so you don't have the water hammer is good, yes. But, what about code, "kode" guy? What does "code" say about securing pex water lines? Wouldn't we all like to know what the code says about it?

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  2 роки тому

      There’s building code, which is minimum, and then there’s the proper way.
      Usually it comes down to simply physics and common sense.

      @@uptokode wow, what a statement - I would like you to share your "expert opinion" with your local building inspector Your "expert opinions" in some instances fell short of code!

    I would add: make sure the tub or shower base is supported properly before closing up the walls. Step in, walk around, make sure it's not flexing all over the place where the drain hooks in, and that it has sufficient blocking under the base to provide support for the end user.

    If you don’t have a journeyman license you have no business giving Plumbing or septic system advice man. As a journeyman Plumber and gasfitter with almost 20 years experience including owning my own company, most of what you’re saying is an oversight. you’re scaring the shit out of homeowners.
    Homeowners: if you have a problem with your plumbing, Heating or septic system, call a small, reputable plumbing company. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, request a journeyman to attend, get a couple opinions if you’re still unclear. Too many companies out there giving honest guys a bad name.

    1). backwater valve NOT backflow preventer; 2 entirely diff. things. 2). test tees NOT lav. cleanouts 2 entirely diff. things. NO cleanout needed or necessary for lav. drains. Not bad but not good. We really didnt get to see much of anything thats involved with the plumbing dwv and water distribution. The idea that anyone wold cut open a vanity cabinet to cable a lav. drain is absurd and ridiculous. You are clearly not qualified to inspect plumbing or give advice on the subject.

      As a plumbing contractor with 36 years experience, I totally agree he's not qualified to inspect plumbing or give plumbing advice... and I DON'T CARE that he has a general contractors license!! He's NOT A plumber!

      I might add, water does not hit a pex 90 and run backwards also.. never heard anything like that
