    leave it to you Martin, you took a preprinted, snap tite kit and turned it into a fabulous build! You as i have said before Martin, a MASTER builder!

      No, thank you for generously sharing your seemingly endless skills! My email is wakemanedwards@gmail.com
      If you don't mind, would you send me an email so I have you in my contacts as a resource/friend that I may turn to if I have any questions on any of my builds?

      For instance, I noticed you sprayed the entire Tie Interceptor with Mr. Surfacer 1000. What exactly does that product do, and what made you decide to use it in that application?

    • @wakemanedwards3450
      @wakemanedwards3450 9 років тому

      That makes perfect since, thanks again. I have learned so much from you my friend. I am waiting for basic tools and products to come in, as well as a few kits to get "my hand back" so to speak after my 10 year layoff. I would like to send you photos of my build for you opinion and tips you might share with me. That OK with you?

      OK, I will check :)

      Another question, the brush you use on fine detail that I see you use so often as in the F-35II, wide handle and a fine tip that always seems to hold it's point. What is it called and who make it? Are they available for purchase?

    Wow, David this video was uploaded in 2014. I only found out about your channel in 2016. I was searching up models of TIE interceptor and it's a surprise to see your video pop up! :D

    It's good. I would have done a light mist of grey after the wash because the tie interceptors aren't usually as "grimey"

    Nice work, looks dramatically better with paint and details picked out. I have the same kit but painting it black, like something from the early days of the First Order. I always though this kit is 1:72 scale but it's not, weirdly scaled at 1:90.

    Very nice video, but how would I apply a wash if I painted with Vallejo water based paints? It sems as if the cotton swab would remove the paint also? Woulkd I have to buy Tamiya paints or should I first apply some varnish?

    Great video . There's a lot of snobbery in the modeller fraternity over these Revell kits , due to them being snap-fit and pre-painted . You prove that treating them as "regular" kits can result in excellent models . I've both this and the "Fine Molds" version which cost 6 times the price of the Revell . Is it better ? Of course it is , 6 times better ? Definately not !

    quick question after you do the oil wash do you wait for it to totally dry before you use the cloth/cotton buds to remove excess. Cheers

    • @loafywolfy
      @loafywolfy 5 років тому

      a bit late but i can answer that, how long you wait to wipe changes how much the paint will stick to the model, if you wait for it to dry it wont come off

    Is it just normal water color paint that you used on making the tie fighter look battle worn?

      +江長遠 Yes, classic acrylic color.

      You don't happen to have built Boba Fett's Slave 1 by any chance?
      I recently bought the Bandai Slave 1 and Millenium Falcon, there's a few vids around of the Falcon but not any really good ones (in my opinion) of Slave 1 being built.
      Love your video's though, I'm jealous of your skills, only recently got back into model building after some 30 years of not doing any, so you can imagine the skill deficit in that time frame, so your video's are a great resource.
      Keep em coming.

    Does this kit come with paint and glue or will I need to purchase those seperately? If so could anyone recommend me some. Much appriciated.

    • @TheRunesmythe
      @TheRunesmythe 7 років тому +1

      Its rare that you find any kits that come with paint and glue (some Testor's stuff is sold in bundles, but they're the only one I can think of off the top of my head). I don't know exactly what he used, but here are a couple of suggestions:
      1) Tamiya Extra Thin Plastic Cement is normally my number one go-to; it comes with a fine applicator brush as part of the cap and will really soak down in between the seams thanks to it being so thin, plus it bonds very well.
      2) Revell Contacta Professional is also a good plastic cement; it comes in a squeeze bottle with a thin metal applicator tip which makes it good for laying down thin lines, and will even bond through acrylic paints.
      3) If you're gluing clear plastic, I recommend either Testor's Cement for Clear Plastic Parts or regular white/PVA glue; normal plastic cement may eat through or warp clear parts and super glue runs the risk of frosting them.
      4) As for paints, it really depends on what you like and how much you want to spend; I use mostly Vallejo Model and Game Color paints, which are good quality, come in a dropper bottle and are fairly inexpensive. There are a number of different paint lines out there though; Citadel, Army Painted, Reaper Pro, P3 just to name a few. You can do a quick search and it should lead you to either their homepages or pages that sell the various brands. If it were me though, I'd stick with Vallejo.

      TheRunesmythe Thanks for the reply. You're a little late as I have already bought a Bandai TIE Interceptor but I'll take note of what you've said for the future if I ever want to expand the fleet. Thanks again.

    I'm a newbie, so I wanna ask what is oil wash?

    • @TheRunesmythe
      @TheRunesmythe 6 років тому

      A little late to reply, but hopefully its still helpful. An oil wash is a wash created using oil paints and some sort of thinner, generally odorless white thinner, also known as odorless white spirit (a wash is just paint or, in some cases ink, that's very diluted so that it will flow into recesses and provide shading while remaining fairly transparent). The advantage of using something like an oil wash is that, after the model has been sealed with a gloss/semi-gloss varnish, it can be easily removed from any surfaces you don't want the wash on by using some thinner to clean it away; you can use acrylic washes as well, but they tend to be much harder to clean away afterwards due to the nature of the acrylic medium.
