The moment he matches the contrast on the second shot I think "ohhh no way this is going to work" then the hue adjustment comes and I'm "this is the best color grading video on youtube ever" hahahahaha Wow ! They all look fantastic ! Children of Men had an awesome look, great choice !
Fantastic tutorial 👌🏾 only thing l'd add to simplify matching the contrast between clips is to have them both in black and white. This helps those like me who are easily distracted by colours when matching contrast.
finally a clear and useful logic in color grading rather than other youtuber that only showing dragging the slider here and there and selling the LUTs at the end of the show..a very good content..❤
I think color grading helps a lot for lower budget films to have a proper color pallet throughout instead of having to rely on set design. Eye catching color choices really is a make or break for a cinematic look. Being able to turn what originally was bland footage into a moody dystopian or a green tinged thriller scene is something incredible. I think proper color grading is a skill all beginning cinematographers should learn.
This is the type of educational content that sets Color Grading Central a cut above. This is excellent information, Denver. Thanks for taking the time (and developing the talent) to share it.
This is a video that actually teaches color grading having reference to a particular look. This sort of video actually teaches color grading techniques.❤
This is awesome. I recently joined an editing course and the instructor included a 20 minute colorgrading tutorial in premier pro. He manually had to colorgrade 15 individual clips He manually colorgraded 3 clips fastforward the video and colorgraded the last 2 clips, because it took that long. With this software, he cojld have reduced that time by at least 60 percent. I already decided to invest in this software. When you already know how to edit, sound design, vfx colorgrading your footage will set you apart as most people are not doing it.
new subscriber here. newbie here trying to do iphone 13 pro videography. I learned from this tutorial that you really dont need LUTS for sale online to quickly colorgrade your footage. since colo grading really varies from footage to footage
Running Premiere Pro at the moment but wanting to switch to Davinci Studio. Didn't work it into my budget for the latest gear/equipment updates I made so it has to wait. Stoked to find someone that's showing how to do this work across the big 3. Thank you!
The Love/Hate relationship I have with color grading is on another level. I can edit my butt off... But when it comes to C.G I am horrible. But I absolutely love the look of a proper C.G.... UGHHHH Maybe 1 day I'll fully understand how this works....
"Hey, great work! Just a heads up that sometimes these edits can leave a yellow cast on the skin, which is slightly visible in your edit. However, the skin tone you're aiming for looks great and matches the mood. What's the best way to achieve a nice, perfect skin tone that fits the vibe?"
When I do a Base Correction with a Color Space Transform it looks exactly like how I shot it, but when following the steps doing a Log to Rec 709 conversion using the sliders in the Lumetri, all my colors are off. What’s going on? Skin tones look pretty close, but the reds are off. It’s weird because I have more details in the highlights it seems. I like the look of the no CST because I can clearly see there are more details, but the colors are off a little bit. Been trying to figure this out for a while. Any help would be appreciated.
Always searching your tutorial with Color Grading on UA-cam and following it. I just have question. I have used the same file you've used on the first tutorial(man in the city) and I noticed that yours on the tutorial is a little washed out compared to the video available on artgrid. Do you have the link of the one that is washed out, as the one on the link you've shared has a bit of color to it already. Thanks in advance!
Perhaps you can explain something to me. Why is it that SDR content generally looks brighter and more vibrant than its HDR counterpart? Meaning when I directly compare the same exact content on a calibrated panel in both SDR and HDR, the SDR version will almost always seem to have a higher average luminosity level and more vibrant colors. This is not because brightness levels are cranked up either. HDR seems a bit less saturated but with the benefit of the occasional high nit specular highlight and perhaps better shadow detail. Just having a hard time finding a technical explanation for why SDR is actually more vibrant and generally brighter on average. Is it because it is a more compressed format? I have read that SDR has a higher average luminosity level, this seems to be the case.
2 days ago i buy cinema grade enhance version for DAVINCI RESOLVED Windows 😢😢 i got problem when I'm going to update my keys inside the cinema grade it shows ERROR IN FETCHING THE PROJECT if I'm drug down in node its never fetching my project like blank 😢😢pls help me to solve this problem thanks
Great video but how exactly are you applying the color adjustments you make to your footage in premiere pro? Are you using an adjustment layer for every section of the lumetri color effect or are you applying all your adjustments to the same adjustment layer?
Hey man, I got a BIG question, You see, I got a Lumix GH5 that can record in 10-bit but the thing is that I don't have a LOG profile, when I bought it, it didn't come with any, so I would have to buy it but it is rather expensive for me so my closest solution was using CineDLike profile, Now what I'm trying to say with this, I originally thought that I had to Color Transform(yes i use davinci) every single video I was going to do but, I noticed that some colors couldn't be achieved the same way others do by doing the same process, Hence, I learned that my clios were already in Rec709 format which means I don't really have to color transform anything... But now that put doubts of whether I should color transform to do color grading like this video or not One extra note, Davinci doesn't have any Panasonic color space
Do you have to drag the color effect to your video clip? I have about 12 clips, I make sure that clip is highlighted when I adjust the color panel, and somehow very clip is somehow effected by 1 color panel. I’m in premiere pro
Have been thinking about purchasing Cinema Grade. As you mentioned...I have it in the cart and just need to pull the trigger. Curious if it's still working as expected with the newest version of Adobe Premiere Pro (Version 24.0.0 - Oct. 2023 Release). They've been making a ton of AI updates in it so just want to know all the functionality is still there. Anyone confirm no compatibility issues currently in WINDOWS VERSION? Thanks in advance....😎
So you don’t need a log to rec 709 conversion lut? When answering please elaborate on why one would use a conversion and it’s benefits or Vice versa. Thanks in advance!
it is absolutely phenomenal that you're showing us how to do these color grades in three different editing platforms. Wow!

What I appreciate about this is the questions that should be asked in a process like this are asked.

hey if you don't mind break down some of the Korean or Japanese drama colour grading process..
thanks
Thanks for the video! Where and when would you place a CST during this process to finish in rec709?

You can, but I wanted greater control over the tonal range I chose to do it manually to better conform to the look. You can really do either or.
