This is the traditional oyster stew made in Maryland and Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay area since at least the 1920s in family homes. I've loved it all my life! 🤗
Thanks for posting this. Never having made oyster stew before, I went looking for a recipe. What I found were recipes based on the assumption that it was being prepared for the queen of England and her entire staff ... when all I wanted was a simple bowl of oyster stew for myself. You and your simplicity is appreciated.
we always sauteed a little onion and celery in with butter and once that was translucent sprinkled in a little flour to make a rue then the oysters and cream..yum
Love it. Try new England clam chowder. Idaho white potatoes. Sauteed onions. Plus, cream of mushrooms. I prefer raw oysters. Soak in butter, onions, white potatoes. Simmer. Stir frequently.
It looks good, but I’m sure it will be perfect with potatoes bell peppers, and carrots that would be oyster stew. Thanks for the idea. You gotta make a stew to stick to your ribs.😊
Thanks this will be my dinner tonight thank you. I tried the can oysters and I did not like it. Maybe it's just me but I will only make with fresh oyster. Thanks hon to let me try it but no thanks.

You make it like I do, I use fresh oysters from Chesapeake bay. Have a fantastic week ✌🦋🇺🇸
I've tried fresh oysters before I just don't like them, they are to strong tasting to me.
That's exactly how I cook mine.sometimes I will use celery salt if I have it.you are lucky you get all of the oysrers.
If you sautee some onions, and celery, it is delicious. Also, use half and half..you will see the difference. Een ut some heavy cream in..
Thank you, this is my first time making it.

Hey, Donna! Are there any desserts you like to make from scratch?
Not really, I don't eat a lot of sweets.
ADD boiled potatoes, Thats how I make it nummy..I use heavy cream and little water.
Looks delicious, Donna. It's been ages since I had oyster stew. Where did you get the canned oysters?
At Aldi's
Can oat or almond milk be used as a substitute I am wondering
I don't see why you can't. If you like it try it.
How many cups of osters do I need to use to make 10 bowels of oyster stew
I would do about 5 or 6 cans but the more oysters the better it taste. It's really up to how many you like.
looks good tfs xx
thanks
Gramas exact recipe

I love tomatoe soup
+sappfire2012 I like tomato soup with a bologna sandwich.
With grilled cheese.....

Yeah I would have to pass on this lol not a fan of oysters
+Craft Corner with Esther C lol
Craft Corner with Esther C You could probably substitute clams for the oysters.
Add some diced potatoes, yummy
the only thing missing is the worschtescher sauce
Oysters from a can? Seriously? I'm outta here.
Yep, I love them! Bye
Always put the oysters in last, you just OVER cooked the oysters! But other than that, great job.
Yummy
