Well it's taken me 30 years but it's finally dawned on me why he was called Cooperman. When I was a child I didn't know Tommy Cooper, now it's all clear!
A great comic performer that could make you laugh at old or corny jokes but without having to resort to bad language or any sense of trying to be cool. Because funny is funny no matter what.
Wow. This is great to relive this. I remember watching this 1st time round. Still funny. Came here to pass on thoughts and prayers for Bella Emberg, R.I.P.
When Russ's show was marketed to the U.S. in the '90s, the bit with Lance was for some reason clipped; now the line, "The knight's already got one" makes sense at last!
Brilliant....the bit with the phone especially. He breaks the phone and then improvises. "I could do 5 minutes here" is just one of his lines. Then comes the "You don't say....you don't say" lead-in, he clicks his fingers as a cue for Les Dennis to ask "Who was it?" and then hits us all with the killer "He didn't say" line. This he follows up with "Anyway, back to the sketch. Where was I? Oh yes, the phone rang" and Les Kindly helps him out with "It might ring again". Fantastic stuff.
has anyone got the fat Canadian Mountie sketch, where les dennis makes a complete pigs ear of his lines. One of the funniest things I saw on tv, had it on VHS but tape is broken
