    £1.25p a litre expensive ? fast forward 4 years and its like £1.60p a litre extortionate prices but in that little Smart car still very economical as im thinking of getting one of these as my current car a 1.2 litre Mitsubishi is killing me around town only getting 33mpg so for example £10 of petrol only gets me 60 miles if i drive carefully where as in 2019 when you did this video i would get 80 miles for same £10 of petrol where as for £10 of diesel even at current prices in the smart car you will get probably 110 miles if you drive it careful , that is really good and even better than a small EV can do

      my 2015 kia soul base 1.6L gets 33 MPG combined (usually). im getting 34 rn! going to get a 2010-2015 toyota prius though. 50 MPG combined would be awesome, and Toyota holds up better than all the other brands.

      @covingtonrace1 3 роки тому +1

      @@stevenjr6582 I've been averaging 53 through country lanes, strep hills, constantly stopping and then through a lot of lights in town, on the motorway I can get high 60s, maybe 70. I think the gearbox let's it down, could be better if it was manual

    So simple to calculate the consumption...first to make a video inform your self at least ! You fill the tank and wrote done the miles ...when you are nearly on reserve (never make it go on reserve because absorbs all the deposits from the tank) fill it again and then you will see how many miles you did with the litres you fill up at the end...the formula is (Subtract the starting mileage from the final figure. Then you divide the number of miles you've covered by the gallons of fuel you've put in. This gives you miles per gallon.)
    And if you want to do l/km
    For this calculation, a simple mathematical formula is used.
    100 x a / b
    where:
    a = the amount of fuel in the tank
    b = the number of km traveled with that amount of fuel
    For example, if we refueled the car and we have a 55 L tank with a total of about 900 km to empty almost the entire tank, to calculate how many liters of fuel the car consumes per hundred kilometers traveled, we will calculate as follows:
    100 x 55/900 = 6.1
    As a result, we would have a consumption of 6.1 L per 100 kilometers traveled.

    Wait. So, this guy said he can get about 30 miles from 4 liters of diesel. He went about 350 miles. That’s at least 40 liters. So he’s got at least a 44 liter tank. A 2 liter bottle is almost as big as a gallon too. So 40 something liters has to be almost 20 gallons. It just makes you wonder who the hell decided to take a 0.8 liter inline 3 turbo charged diesel that makes about 100 foot pounds of torque and about a 16 gallon fuel tank and slap it in a car that’s about as big as a god damn washing machine

    • @yummybrummie2295

      He started at 46310 and put 25.38 uk litres as there is about 4.54 litres to a gallon not 2!! Or in US gallons 6.70 but we will stick with UK gallons as he filled up in the UK. When he refilled he had done 46648 so he achieved 60.57 miles to the gallon. Your statement says "So 40 litres has to be almost 20 gallons" is tripe!! 20 gallons is 90.92 litres and a 16 gallon fuel tank would hold 72.74 litres 3 times what he manages to get into his fuel tank. If your gonna comment at least get your facts in order first
