A lot of negative comments here about what these demos should and shouldn't be for Gretsch guitars. One of the joys of playing is that you can do whatever you want with them. How boring would music be if no one ever bothered to experiment ? Good sounds are subjective, folks!
I was in love with my 5620T Cats Eye. Master volume control is great. I had a TV Jones Powertron Plus installed at the bridge. It's a beast! Now I REALLY love it. Powertron plus is sold as a bridge application only. Use at the neck? I don't know. TV recommends treble bleed at the master volume control. I also replaced the stock tone pots with "effective" tone controls. Esthetics and appearance...Gretsch = Cadillac of guitars. It's a keeper....Forever
More demos of 6118, just love the sound... Still saving money for mine ! Just love the guitar, played few years ago in an little London guitar shop and has stayed in my mind ever-since :--) ! All respects to You Gretsch guys !
i am poor.. and if i given a chance to have plenty of cash i will definitely become poor again knowing gretsch will drain all my money.. love gretsch.. a piece of art..
Me wants! But my skills and bank account only warrant electromatic and streamliner series......maybe someday :). On the real though, I love my pro jet and really can’t imagine much better quality.
Found the crunch tones in this pretty uninspiring. I feel like Gretsch (the company) rarely taps into the seemingly large market they have of folks that love to play rock on a Gretsch. For me perfection is Malcolm Young and Chris Cheney's Gretsch tones, can't recall Gretsch ever releasing a video that showed just what their guitars can do into a Plexi just over the edge of breakup.
Nick McLoughlan - That's true mate. It's a shame that Gretsch guitars have been pigeon-holed into a box that only sees the guitars only able to play either Rockabilly/Chet Atkins picking stuff /Malcolm Young. Because of this I'd say that in about 98% of Gretsch guitar demos you're gonna hear the 1st 2 styles I just mentioned, and the other 2% being the other. I've seen 1 video where the guy plugged a load of Gretsches into a driven Marshall, and a load of the comments were negative and scorning the guy for daring to play a distorted Gretsch.... I find it very narrow minded to try and restrict the guitar's use like that. I've got a G5126 and play however I feel like playing. Most guitars have their own pigeon hole, which I think is bollocks, but Gretsch has to be the worst for it. Every time I hear a Gretsch demo I just know I'm gonna hear that certain country picking lick I hear in every other demo and it's kinda boring and unimaginative. What happened to those rebel guitarists that Gretsch used to be synonymous with. 😆
John k - Too right. I'm sure that the Malcolm Young tribute comes with TV Jones pickups, and for the extremely high price of the guitar, Gretsch could at least have included the other 2 pickups for you to have the option to use if you wish, or sell on, or do whatever you want with. Considering those pickups cost about £120 each where I live, it would be nice to be able to claw a bit of money back on the guitar or be able to use the 2 extra pickups in a different guitar. I dunno, it just would be nice of them to do that. After all, the original guitar would have had all of the pickups in it at some point when Mal Young had it, and I'm fairly sure that he did use his with more pickups in there at 1 point. I love the sound of that guitar but selling a guitar with 2 empty holes routed & drilled for the pickups, I think it looks damn ugly personally.
Why do they call the expensive ones "players addition"? Arent the ceaper Gretches played by guitar players too? This is a bit confusing. It sounds like Grestch is insulting players that cant afford the more expensive Gretches.
The players edition guitars have a bunch of "player friendly" enhancements that the more vintage inspired models lack. These features include locking tuners, a sting through bigsby for easier string changes, and strap locks. These are all nice features for gigging musicians.
The one bad thing about these Gretches is, they're ridiculously big. Makes you look small. And what IS "that Gretsch" sound anyway? A DeArmond Dynasonic pickup from Seymour Duncan or TV Jones installed in any random chinese guitar enhanced above Gretsch level with a roller bridge and any nut but those plastic ones. I am ready, brand-worshippers - kick my ass for saying it out loud :)
The "one" bad thing? One? as in 1? No ass kickin.......It just sounds (really obvious) like you are loyal (brand worshiper) to another brand guitar. And seeing Gretsch get some attention and praise kinda bothers you. Gretsch is a great guitar, in a class by itself. And history backs that up. Only a Gretsch sounds like a Gretsch. I'm a guitar player, not a musician. Too many "great" musicians own a Gretsch, and would disagree with you strongly. A person who equates Gretsch with "any random Chinese guitar" not only makes a poor impression , but shows a lack of knowledge and an abundance of resentment for the instrument. :)
+Joey Ball Erh? No you are wrong about me being loyal to another brand. I am looking for a guitar, thats why you would watch this kind of videos you know?
iMeMySelf Not good or bad, just different opinions. I've played Teles for years (and still love them). I recently got a Gretsch after digging the sound of them for years. They get a hollow, throaty, raspy sound I've not heard in another guitar. You can also get a beautiful clean sound with a big bottom end. As for the size, that's one of the things I actually dig! It's like holding a full bodied woman!
Asquerosamente horrible lo que haces con esa guitarra, la distorsion no sirve para ese tipo de guitarras, vos tenes que usar una strato o una gibson firebird, como minimo
I am familiar with "That Great Gretsch Sound"....I own the exact same guitar in the demo. I love my Gretsch. The musician in the demo does not sound horrible, in my opinion. I believe he is playing his style. Not what I would play, not my style. A better job could have been done to demonstrate the versatility of the instrument. The guitar rocks. I know that, because I play that.
Brilliant! So good to hear a demo that's not reliant on tired old blues licks! Love it! Keep the demos coming!
Wow , Gretsch with a great Sound , that's why People must love these guitars ! 💕💕💕

Great sounds. Great playing 👍🇩🇪
I really like this guitarist. Great demo!
Yes please! Any of them will do ;)
That Black Falcon is cool as fuck!
I just received my Gretsch G6119 Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose (not the latest model..) and I love it! Mine is from 2006.
That Tennessee Rose, man...
I'm in love with that white falcon
i am poor.. and if i given a chance to have plenty of cash i will definitely become poor again knowing gretsch will drain all my money.. love gretsch.. a piece of art..
Nice guitars, someday I'll get one of those great sounds beauties
2:50....pure extasy!!!!
Siiiiiiiick tone and playing when he Tennessee rose came out
Have the duo jet player's edition with broadton 65s beast she is. I do pretty woman but Eddie van Halen style.
Me wants! But my skills and bank account only warrant electromatic and streamliner series......maybe someday :). On the real though, I love my pro jet and really can’t imagine much better quality.
The streamliner g2622 is killer, as well as any of the electromatic!

Jammy Git I play full on hard rock on mine! Fuck the haters!
Jammy Git you are totally missing the point of a tribute guitar 🙄
Not a fan of gold hardware or hollow bodies or Gretschs made overseas but I would be thrilled to own a Gretsch.
👍 Never read the comments...😂 I have one o these, it’s a keeper.
awsm!!! thanx
If these are Gretsch top end guitars, why no zero fret?
O.M.G. (y)
So Gretsches with muddy overdrive don't sound right.
Good thing I don't need a big overdrive with playing.
Nah
Nobody can play a gretsch like Jon Foreman
Dr. ew he squeezes every last drop outta his Gretsch
Please tell me this is not a modulated amp? Gretsch guitars sound a lot better than this.
yet to hear anything on the low end of the spectrum from gretsch , like fatter warmer tones.. guess people dont buy these for their low end.

I would never want one of these after all this Fn fuzz ! Horrible am I missing something ?
your mama haha
is this a guitar or shitty verb/delay demo??????????????
+TheAtheistworld Gee, we've never ever heard that tired comment from wanna-be purist dipshits.
what do u mean? im a 42 years old married lady and experienced musician!
+TheAtheistworld
I totally agree! Gretsch need to fire the guy who believes that playing crappy Indie soft rock will sell their guitars.
+Tony Well worship leaders are the strongest public who buy expensive gretsches soooo I'd give them what they whant to hear
+Dan Alvarado Q. some of us aren't crappy, boring guitarists. ;)
The one bad thing about these Gretches is, they're ridiculously big. Makes you look small.

sorry but you can put a dynasonic on a chinese guitar, this one never sound like a real gretsch.
That's the main difference with the 'Player's Edition' ... thinner bodies.
Asquerosamente horrible lo que haces con esa guitarra, la distorsion no sirve para ese tipo de guitarras, vos tenes que usar una strato o una gibson firebird, como minimo
God awful demos. Not the guitars fault.
poor demo. Sound horrible to my ears
What's wrong with your ears?
nothing. If you like this noisy and crap sound you didn't like the great gretsch sound
