    I designed this fixture to significantly reduce the pin cutting time, specifically for the Grand piano project which requires many pins of the same length.
    Check out the project here: mmf.io/mechgra....
    Use code MECHYT5 for 5% discount),
    This setup requires a one-time measurement and adjustment to cut pins of the same lengths quickly and consistently.
    I've spent some time modularising the design to expand its functionality such that new cutting blocks can be designed specific to certain tasks.

    Really cool design. I plan on making this so I can cut all the parts for the airplane mechanism you made so I can give it to my brother as an assembly kit for Christmas. Plus, I can always take this outside my apartment or go to the balcony.

    Very cool design.
    Seems like the bearings at the cut bed could be swapped out in favor of a simple metal V block as they don't really turn in any meaningful way, and a V block would perhaps be more accurate.
    Just a thought!

    Gotta love how dremels have so close to 0 torque they actually struggle to cut thin wire.
    Excellent project and design though!

    • @AdaptingCamera
      @AdaptingCamera 2 роки тому +4

      Well, torque is dependent on the RPM also, so the torque is considerably higher than zero. Also, the guy is not using the right disc for the job. This Dremel is excellent for small jobs and while this complicated cutting tool attachment is sort of overkill, never the less, if you have many small items you have to cut to the same length, then this solution is quite nice. I cut 6mm stainless steel screws with a 180W Dremel and it is doing just fine when you can't use a large and powerful angle grinder.

    • @RestoreTechnique
      @RestoreTechnique 4 місяці тому

      @@AdaptingCamerayeah that's the wrong disc for cutting metal, you need a fibreglass reinforced cutting wheel.

    Awsome Design. I am pretty sure I will use that for my Dremel.
    I have question though: You once showed a "UA-cam-Short" of a foldable contraption for an infinity Background, that had arms with mounted Lights, so that the shot has good lighting everytime.
    I could not find the files anywhere. Obviusly, if you simply don't want to publish the design, that is your choice to make.
    I just wanna make sure I'm not simply overlooking.
    And to avoid any misunderstandings: I am not asking for a gift. I would like to buy the model for my personal use.
    Have a great day and keep up the good work!

      I’m using Siemens NX as my main cad software but I am slowly migrating to Fusion 360 since it is more user friendly in terms of motion simulation and rendering tools.
      As for printers, I’m using out of the box Prusa printers (mk3 and mini) and I did not perform any additional calibration on them. I did upgrade a couple of them with linear rails but that’s primarily for reducing maintenance cycle time.
      Thanks for the kind words and you’re welcome!
