Thanks for sharing. I just recently heard of toja grid and have been looking into the different options available. I’m wanting to build something thing like this but with a flat top. Still trying to figure out what I want. I want to get a hot tub and a dry sauna and have one of these to cover it. But I also want to be able to see the stars at night so I’m thinking about getting the flat top one and using some sort of canvas so I can pull it back.
Question on the screws used: do you need 2 screws on all four side or is it on three sides? Thinking of instead using Simpson outdoor accent exterior screws...3.5"...and using 2 on opposing sides...thoughts? Is that sufficient... Great video and nice pergola...mine will be open and 2 sections of 12' x 12'
Gosh it's been awhile.. you'll need to price out 8ft 6x6s ($40 a piece) and 12ft 4x4s ($20 a piece) I purchased from Menards so it was a cedar tone treated wood which just means it's pre stained and I highly recommend it. Screws/hardware is included in the Toja grid kit
Hello I am planning to build this same 12x12 pergola. I was wondering what measurement you placed your concrete pads? Once the 12x12s are into the bracket is seems there could be a few inches more on the outside diameter? Thank you for your help. Ryan
I went out there and just measured. If you do 12ft 6in (150 inches) on center spacing for each bracket/post you will be golden and have the bracket dead center to sit on the concrete pads for anchoring. Can't be 12ft even because you need that extra 6in to account for the bracket width too. Hope that helps!
Great time lapse. Beautiful build. Question regarding the total span of the beams. Did you use 12ft beams and is the total span 13 feet from outside post to outside post. Ie. 12 ft + 6 inch (right) + 6 inch (left). This would be the same at 150 inches center to center + 3 inches (left) and 3 inches (right). Thanks
Not my site but the exact model we have is pasted below. They are available at Home Depot so you can get them delivered faster than through Toja Grid itself. 12 ft. x 12 ft. Grid 30 Single Pergola Kit with Water Repellant Top, for 6x6 Wood
Hey thanks for watching! The posts are 8ft even, and you could definitely do it without the equipment but it'll take quite a few people to provide the muscle and leverage, but totally doable. Once it's assembled and up though, it ain't going no where 💪
I had the opposite problem! Even letting the wood dry for a few months it was still swelled up, which is why I had to break out the mallet! All good now
DIY with heavy equipment. That should be the title.
Hey, I get you on that, my buddy had the equipment so why not.. but you could do it with a few buddies and some sweat equity

Love that idea! I think you will be super happy with it if you go with Toja Grid. Lot of options!
could you do a 12 x 18? and with 4x4???
What was the type of wood did u use and where did u buy it , good job
These are CedarTone 6x6s (prestained and treated). We have Menards here in Midwest so if you're in that area, check it out!
Where can I buy the brackets kits?
Home Depot is where we got ours, free shipping!
Thank you 👍
That looks great! How deep were your concrete footings and what size Tapcons did you use?
Appreciate it! We did 48" for frost line here in Michigan. If I remember right for tapcons was 5/16's, 3in long. Been rock solid 💪

I did 2 on all 4 sides, but to be honest the brackets are so solid and bear the load, you would be fine. Should turn out awesome for ya!
Can you share how much did it cost material with a breakdown?

Is 12x12 the biggest you can go with these without adding more sections?
I think 12x12 is the biggest you can do for one section. You could always add more though and connect them I would assume

12” posts? 😂 No
How did you secure the footings to the cement?
Tapcons! We have had crazy wind this year so I'm glad we did it, probably not necessary but why not.
What are the name of those joints to order off your site??
Not my site but the exact model we have is pasted below. They are available at Home Depot so you can get them delivered faster than through Toja Grid itself.

Wow nice is that 8’ tall for the leg post ??
Yep! Got them from Menards that are pre-stained, called Cedar Tone!
@@hurstyoutdoors very nice
Could you have done it without the excavator and cat?
How tall are the posts that are in the ground - 8 ft?

Did the wood shrink a lot I know when I tested the wood at the store I was loose fitting

Dispo en France ???
I don't know for sure, they are based out of Canada, I would assume they can ship worldwide.

Nice work but that’s a gazebo
Appreciate it, while I agree it's just what Toja Grid calls it. Just making it easier for people to find.
