I only know how to tre flip (kind of), shuvit, Ollie, and I recently learned how to kickflip in the middle of class and I popped up and said “YESSS, LETS GO” the teacher was just straight up confused
I know this comment is probably not going to be looked at, but here's the reason I could see why people may not like fingerboarders. A LOT of fingerboarders don't actually skateboard in real life, some do, like Mike Schneider for example, however a lot don't. Some fingerboarders do other action sports in real life, which some people may feel like 'Why do you even fingerboard if you don't skateboard?', which somewhat makes sense, as the question comes to mind 'How did you even find it or get into it?'. While it may be wrong, hating on fingerboarders won't stop. It's people's opinion, and it's honestly harmless, but that's just my two cents. Love your videos, btw.
For your first fingerboard setup, you did good bro. :) The deck you have is a really nice deck too. And the ramps you got, definitely some of the best out there.
the bushings you had on the trucks are just standerd tech deck bushings if you want the trucks to work properly put on the black extra ones. and also the washers are really important especially if you use the good bushings because if you dont after a while the bushing will just slide off. And also with the grip tape it does not matter if you put it ob before or after the trucks but to put on the griptape all you need is a file and you just file away at it at an angle for a bit and then you pull off any extra shavings.
Grip goes on last. the nuts are extrra nuts for the wheels, not the truck bolts, the truck bolts screw directly into the truck base plates. also, for the grip you can pre trace it to cut it out or use a razor very carefully. FIle at the end if its not smooth, use extremely fine sandpaper/file
+Shawn Ralko // RalkoEdits These fingerboards are made of wood, have working trucks, the small wheels even have bearings in them. They are way bigger as well than a techdeck. Don't get me wrong, I use to play with tech decks, but these are different.
Hey Garrett I started skateboarding and then picked up fingerboarding very seriously along with skating, as I live in a place that's only warm 6 months a year so I started fingerboarding when I couldn't skate. It's such a cool thing that I had no idea people took as seriously as like skateboarding and I learned you could do real tricks with your fingerboard but long story short this was 6 years ago and I rarely skateboard but still fingerboard on the regular and I still love it. I'm also unaware as to why the dislike of each other exists between fingerboarders and skaters but I feel like it may be a little one sided. everyone that I've met who fingerboarded, also loved skating. But many pure skaters who were uninterested in fingerboarding or maybe weren't aware it was so advanced and not just a dumb toy, but I usually find its the skaters hating on the fingerboarders cause it's "not the real thing" or " why don't you go learn how to actually skateboard" and similar statements and it saddens me. Fingerboarding is all about skateboarding but skateboarding looks down upon fingerboarding I feel like.
the washers are to go below the bottom bushing and above the top bushing like a full size skateboard, also for the grip to find it easer you can use a nail file and at an angle scrape away the grip :)
+Malakai Lance HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO
Use a nail file for the grip. Put the trucks on first. The bushings and washers go on next. Put the larger washer on the truck then the large bushing, then put the truck part that holds the wheels then the smaller bushings follow that up with the smaller washer. Once you have built the board THEN you put the grip on.
Garret those are the bushings and the bushing protector To apply Put the bushing protectors first. (1) Next, put the bushings in. (1) Then, do this 2 times to both trucks!
+Oakley Wood It's crazy, you should see the scene, considering you can get a complete pro model skateboard for the same price of a pro model fingerboard, it's ridiculous
1. you have to use a file to remove the grip tape by going along the edges filing off the tape (just look for any youtube tutorial like fingerboard tuning tips by dirty harry) 2. griptape first then the screws 3. the nuts are meant for the wheels in case you loose them 4.if you wanna learn how to ollie take your board and practice on a vertical surface. move the board down/back while doing the normal ollie motion and you'll learn how to move your fingers (just look for youtube tutorials)
Put/screw the trucks on first. Then for the gripping, shape the grip sheet with the board(use a pen or whatever) and cut it with scissors. Those 'four only' nuts are extras for the wheels, just in case you lose one in replacing wheels if ever a wheel cracks, or if a bearing breaks. :>
heres what i know if you dont know already which you probs do... i fingerboard and know that on that kind of grip tape you would do trucks then grip but if you had the kind of grip with holes in it then the order doesnt matter. the four extra nuts is spare for your wheels, the trucks hold the screw they have ridges or whatever that holds to screw in place.
i know im a lil late but you should set up the board like this 1. griptape-use nailfile to cut it, its just easier 2. wheels and trucks, for this part its youir choice, trucks on with or without the wheels hen setting it up
5:59 that actually is brilliant for using a razor blade. You're supposed to use a nail file or emery board, but it's your first time. Another tip: on a fingerboard, you don't put nuts on the screws, only use the screws. The nuts are extras for the kingpins, or axles. Yet another tip: the little black rings and silver washers are bushings and washers for the bushings. There are already bushings on the bollie trucks, but they're not very good, so he gave you extra bushings to replace them with.
i know im late to the vid but for the grip tape just use a file instead of a razor and file the sides until it comes off, the extra bushings are for the trucks and you should use the black ones because they're softer and they actually make the trucks looser and they're just better. The 4 nuts are just for the wheels so all 8 screws just stay in, you dont need nuts for the trucks.
those washers are for your trucks, it’s little bushings and the washer🤙🏼 but no it’s fine, they already had tuning in the fingerboard trucks. anyway i’ve been finger boarding for a little bit just because where i’m from gets quite a bit of snow so. yeah
The washers are for your bushings, before I started using teflon fingerboard bushings I would just use rubber or rubber bands that people would normally use for like braces even as bushings and the washers keep your bushings from breaking and let you tighten or loosen them as much as you want really, bigger one on bottom smaller one on top, basically the same a a real board
I like reading all these comments wondering why it's so expensive. It's quality people it's the board are hand crafted the wheels have bearing on them the truck are the best out there by the way gerret your supposed to scrape off the grip with a file
Use a file for the griptape edge, install the other bushings on the trucks, they looked like a tefon bushing which is much better than the bollie trucks stock bushings which are terrible and, those wheel nuts were just spares. p.s. it doesnt matter if you install the griptape or trucks first
You did everything right but the grip job is trash it goes grip the trucks and you should learn how to grip a fingerboard it is really easy the extra nuts were just extras because there’s only nuts on the wheels you’re not supposed to put them on the screws that hold the truck to the board
And also you did pretty much everything correct, only thing that would have made it seem better was if you poked good holes through your grip covering the truck screws, so the screws go as far down as they can. you almost gotta squeeze the truck and board together so the screw gets them tight since there's no bolt to force the two together as you tighten it up. thus the trucks can barely be screwed in but you'll be unable to screw the screws in any more. Totally did the grip wrong through. Use nail clippers next time, the nail file claw part with all the little lines that's like a metal nail file that folds out from the clippers. you rub the file part on the grip and it pulls everything off that's uneven and not cut back far enough. And that board you got? Nicest fingerboard you can get. All those ramps are so legit you better learn on that dope stuff! I had 2 fingerboards for years since I got a real deck and someone recently stole my case with everything in it,ramps and my boards so now im out of comission, haven't fingerboarded in a while. I was close to possibly becoming sponsored through fingerboarding too but just like that I got nothing lol. anyways I wanna see you get good as hell at this man! you just got handed willy wonka golden ticket of random fingerboard box! super jealous! excited to see more fingerboard stuff on the channel. Maybe you can lend your influence to target this senseless fingerboard hate and make an effort to dispel this ridiculous hating. Both are cooler then hell
U should use a nail file or just a file instead of a razor the razor makes it ruff and it’s hard to do it and I think those extra nuts are for the trucks like the wheels 🤷♂️
yo your so good at grinding.. and i preciate your speech. fingerboarders are fingerboarders skaters are skaters why cant we just live in peace.. so cute men
honestly I think most people don't realize is that fingerboarding is something you would do when it was to wet to skate outside. or pouring down rain. or snow. etc.
my home wood deck is sick. i would love to teach you a few things like the double hard flip truckstand or nollie impossibles. I have just about every flat ground trick down on fingerboard. I can do a lot of grinds and flips into them but I'm not a pro or anything.
Well first you put the grip on. Then you take a file and score off the leftover grip hanging off the edge. The 4 extra nuts are extra wheel nuts. The bushings and washers left over are rubber, you can replace the plastic bushings for the rubber bushings. Then you take a pin and poke holes for the screws. From there on you just put the trucks on like a normal skateboard. Ps: The screws don't have nuts on the end. You sounded confused that there where 4 nuts left over. Hope this helps for maybe soon fingerboard vids hopefully.
8:28 It dosent matter how you put on the griptape. If you ever plan on changing the trucks then put the griptape on before the trucks. If you don't plan on taking the trucks off the put the trucks on first then the griptape.
Putting trucks on before or after griptape is down to personal preferance. I prefer hardware on outside but to cut the griptape use a file on nail clippers to file it down. I have a tutorial on my channel so please check that out!

STOP SAYING FINGER BOARD
Gone mayo?
that's what they are called, that's the company name
that is what they are called
The washers are for raising or lowering the trucks so you have higher or lower pop
for the grip tape use a nail file and grind it down until it comes off. and it's trucks then tape.
for the tape it's personal preference if u wanna see the screws or not
The washers are for your bushings, before I started using teflon fingerboard bushings I would just use rubber or rubber bands that people would normally use for like braces even as bushings and the washers keep your bushings from breaking and let you tighten or loosen them as much as you want really, bigger one on bottom smaller one on top, basically the same a a real board

I like reading all these comments wondering why it's so expensive. It's quality people it's the board are hand crafted the wheels have bearing on them the truck are the best out there by the way gerret your supposed to scrape off the grip with a file
The extra bushings and washers are to change out the original standard tuning
put the trucks on first. dont go up when your gonna cut the grip, you have to use some sand paper thing to mark down where to cut.

The nuts are extras in case u loose the ones on ur wheels and u file/sand papper the tape . U setup in right order.
you did a great good setting it up for the first time and those nuts are extras for the wheels
It does not matter if you put the grip tape first it is just based on if you want to see the screws or not
Usually the nuts are extra truck/wheel bolts. U put grip tape first and file the access grip the the trucks
You did everything right but the grip job is trash it goes grip the trucks and you should learn how to grip a fingerboard it is really easy the extra nuts were just extras because there’s only nuts on the wheels you’re not supposed to put them on the screws that hold the truck to the board

This is rad. Appreciate you getting some fresh eyes on the fingerboard scene, thanks man.
The nuts are extra for the wheels. Usually before trimming the grip, people file down the edges like on a real skateboard. I use a nail file.
use a nail file for the grip. i skate and fingerboard. you can put in the trucks in before or after you apply grip
They are extra nuts in case the wheel nuts break. Use a nail file next time and just sand it down. Those bushings are better than the ones in.
It can go either way you can grip over the screws or you can do it how most people do it
