Everyone has probably done some tricks on a tech deck before, and I'm sure some of you are into fingerboarding, so the question is: how big of a difference is there between a tech deck and a fingerboard? Also got some street skating in, handrails, stairs, cruising around, etc. Enjoy!

Someone said it below in the comments. The difference between Garrett's setup is your skateshop bought setup, vs a Walmart skateboard. There really isn't a comparison. Tech Deck is a toy company, It'd be like comparing Zero to a WalMart Nash, haha.

Pretty useless product in general kinda like a fidget spinner I wouldn't pay over $30 considering the difference in bearings and build quality is very small. I have some of the wood they used in that deck, the "grip tape" should be easy to buy and the most difficult part is getting access to a machine that builds the tires, trucks and bearings. Realistically these things shouldn't be $150 but they know kids and some other people will still want them just because it's expensive. Economies of scale would also be an issue

I'm legitly into finger boarding and I prefer the 5$ one. Just changing the grip itself to the sticky ones for beginners will make it a lot easier. but I use sandpaper😋

Back in 1989 when I was in high school I made a finger board. That was way before I ever saw one. Real wood, hot wheels for wheels and trucks made of pencil erasers. It was so light and easy to ollie. Working on a prototype for a new one for a business idea.

I wanted to educate you. The 150$ fingerboard is for the die hard fingerboard fan that is really part of the cult of fingerboarding. The one that is one level down is the 20-30$ fingerboard. It has the grippy foam tape with the softer bushings and features the ultra smooth mechanical bearing wheel, along with a realistically made wooden fingerboard deck. Then you have a tech deck which is by today's standards a piece of crap for little kids or for someone that's not sure if they want to get into the sport or not. The 150$ fingerboard has a wooden ply deck made with wood veneers, has professional trucks that are single axles and has lock nuts, like real skateboards (So the nuts don't fall out, like the tech deck and mid price complete), also has bearing wheels and the foam grip. Standard tech deck style trucks Don't have single axle hanger so you have to replace the truck within two or three months. In my experience, with Blackriver trucks, being the fact they with a single axle, lasted me two and a half years. 150$ fingerboards are mostly for the die-hard fans that are very materialistic and have an expensive taste.

A sport is anything that challenges the mind and body. Your hand and fingers are part of your body. Fingerboard takes really good hand eye coordination.
There is a much difference between the 20$ and 150$ fingerboard?
Actuality not a whole lot. The $100+ board has single axle trucks and lock nuts which the 20$ board lack. with the $20 board you have to replace the trucks about every four months since the axle start to wobble and may fall out if you don't replace them in time. Then with the $20 board you have to apply a nut guard to the nuts so the nuts don't fall off. I use shoe goo, works like magic.
I do, but its knowledge you gain when you expose yourself to something a lot and product use experience.
