Someone asked me to make a video tutorial for this on DG box. Here it is for anybody else who wants it: ua-cam.com/video/OaFD2Ssmgmc/v-deo.html P.S. Sorry for the dog/bird noises!
I don't think there's a better rendition than this tbh, it's pure quality. I must've listened to it at least 30 times now, you two are a great combination
I seriously had goosebumps from the pick up notes and the 1, and was a captive (no pirate pun intended...Arrr!) audience through the instrumental interplay and variations each verse. Subscribed!
Also, are you bouncing back and forth between an Em in to a D in a 2:4 polka-type feel (i.e bass root then chord) on the first (and last) stanza of each verse? I understand that it’s bi-sonic (like a harmonica). I think other versions with instrumental accompaniment simply hold an Em, but if that’s what I’m hearing, it really adds some swagger! So, I just had to ask.
This is so great! Do you / does anyone anybody know where's best to find notation for this on the accordion/melodeon? I'm struggling to find it online anywhere
You've an air of Dave Swarbrick to your voice, this was a brilliant cover! What key is the Melodeon in and is there an ABC notation available for this version? I'd like to learn it.

Truly one of, if not the, best version of this song I've ever heard. Highly underrated. This deserves 1M+ views.
When you know a little of the Barbary pirate history then this hits different. Understandable Revenge.

@@paulyoungfolk Fantastic! Thanks so much :)
Hi Paul. Just came across this now. Love it! Can you suggest any other songs/players that sing with accordion??
Try Spiers & Boden, Hannah James & Sam Sweeney, Richard & Jess Arrowsmith, John Kirkpatrick...
@@paulyoungfolk Thank you very much Paul, will do. I just bought my first box... a refurbished Hohner HA113 LMM in D.
Excellant

Thanks. The melodeon is a D/G. I'm not aware of any ABC, but it's probably out there somewhere.
Funny, I think he sounds like Simon Nicol.
Edelweiss
Yorkshire accent? Sounds like my Yorkshire friend.
