For all of those wondering the original song, it's a version of High Barbary by Pride of Bedlam. It can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/tUs9LRIHCE0/v-deo.html
Aseries, Yeah... true to a point. In this version the pirates do win. (Which is unusual) But in this shanty, usually they lose. - the pirates try to give themselves an edge - in the second stanza (depening on version) when the navy ship hails the "ship to lee" ITS captain Identifies it self as a "man o' war" (a warship of a nations navy) and NOT a pirate or privateer. And then goes on to ask they lower sail, and stop ("heave to") so they (the man o' war) can give them the ship's mail to take home with them (a common practice back in the age of sail) This is a ruse - the pirates use that to lure the king's ship in close - and then they give the navy ship a broadside, which is answered by the navy ship with a broadside of thier own (they expected trouble, and saw through the ruse) There are a few different versions of the lyrics. in this one, the pirates identified themselves as such when hailed and demand tribute. In others they claim to be a warship and attempt the ruse.

I love that the music has that Arabic undertone lol. Accurate. I thought the navy won in both versions though
