Yesterday from today in history. I know this video is from 7 years ago, but thank you so much for having a feel of what Hersheypark was like back then. I was not alive back then, but again, thank you so much. There is so many more rides today there than there were before.
Daniel R There were concerns about stranded riders if the ride got stuck for a large amount of time. Insurance costs also were an issue because rates sharply rose after an incident in the 80s occurred on one of those types of rides.
I believe it was low capacity. Plus with Giant Wheel and Kissing Tower keeping them wasn't necessary. Superdooperlooper took their place, and was considered the biggest attraction at the park.

I may have born in 1989 but how I miss the Giant Wheel. Also I wish I could have ridden on Sky Ride just once, but I'm far to young to remember it.
How amazing is this...I was 8 years old...haven't been there but was at Kings Island, such a simple great time
Great video. I am probably the age of the boys in this one.
Brings back great memories of HP.
Thanks! I made an annotated version on my main channel, The Amusement Parkives. ua-cam.com/video/xjfgv_g1AAE/v-deo.html
Back when Comet was the only roller coaster
It was not - at the time, there was also the Twin Towers Toboggan, Trailblazer, and Mini Comet.
I didn't know Hersheypark had a Octopus kind of ride. Why did they get rid of it? Dorney still has theirs.
Here's an article about the Monster.

I wonder why Hersheypark took those lifts out the ones that use to go over the park above the carousel

Harry Michelson thank you for input Harry
Hersheypark went and grew up on us. Sure would like to have all those shade trees today.
I liked the two side Ferris wheel next to carousel. I don’t why Hersheypark took them out too
Daniel R They were retired in favor of the Giant Wheel which debuted in 1973.

Love that park
