Arguably the best starting coaster in my opinion, because the drop isn't bad, there is only one loop (so u can feel what it is like) and it is relatively slow compared to others. This ride helped me conquer my fear of most coasters :D
People think this ride is stupid because it has one loop and it's name makes it sound like it has a lot. The reason why it has this name is because it was built in the 80's I think. And it was the first loop roller coaster in the east.
Considering it was the first looping coaster on the east coast, and it is almost 40 years old, the Sooper Dooper Looper is a well cared for classic. Still buttery smooth given the old-school design and construction techniques, and a unique mix of a loop and a steel terrain coaster. Yea, it isn't the most intense thing in the park, but still a great ride for (almost) the whole family. A great warm-up to the modern rides like Fahrenheit, Sky Rush, or Storm Runner.
That reminded me of when I went on that ride when I was younger and was terrified. So when we hit the tunnel everyone on the ride said "WOOOO!" and then you hear me, scared out of my mind "NOOOOO!" 😭
This was my daughters 1st. loop coaster....she was 5 or 6 the first time we visited. Had to ride it over, and over, and over again. I loved Hershey because there were so many coasters she could ride at a young age. I think she was 7 the last time we visited Hershey as we live so far away. She's a teen now and rolls have reversed. I'm the scardy cat now and she's got no fear....I created a coaster monster, and I love it.
Such a classic Schwarzkopf ride, this was the first coaster with an inversion I ever rode, and I loved it. For how old it is, the thing runs so smoothly and is still fun! Also probably the best example of a Schwarzkopf terrain coaster probably, I always forget how terrain-based this ride is!
I still have my t-shirt from there - from 40 years ago. It's good to see a ride for all ages in this and other parks. The self-proclaimed coaster studs can stuff it.
Yup this was my first real roller coaster 30 something years ago I was instantly hooked. Awning on taking my son and daughter here next week to make it their first coaster too
Last time I was in Hersheypark was 7 years ago for an 8th grade field trip. I remember this ride was a walk on and the operators allowed us to ride repetitively without getting out of our seats because there was no line.
I love the older looking guy at 0:15! Reminds me of Doctor House! I was like that guy by myself at Over Texas when I rode Shockwave! Was my most happiest time I ever had just like I would be here!
Hey guys! Can I ask you all a question. SO for this summer vacation our family and me should either go to the Bahamas or Hearshey park. I been to Hearsher park and its fun but I wanna know which one is fun. I cant choose because their both I think %50 and %50 .
I rode this the first summer it was added at Hershey. It was state of the Art back in the 70s! I believe it was one of the first, if not the first loop roller coaster in the USA.
I went on that roller coaster because I felt like I wouldn’t have a heart attack and my friends asked me if I really wanted to do it and I was like yeah yeah totally. I swear I passed out.
Every year at my school for the people that play an instrument at the end of the year we have a thing called the high notes festivel. That's when we play for judges and then we go to Hershey park for the rest of the day this was the first ride my group of 5 people went on
When I was super young, this was one of the only thrill rollercoasters that didnt look too scary. This is a great ride for young ones who just became a reece.(or just want a more thrilling ride) Like everyone's saying, people think it's stupid because the name doesn't fit. I always thought that too, but I realized it actually makes it sound a lot more thrilling for young kids. If the name makes them think it's scary, just tell them to be brave because this ride is super fun and lots of big kids get on it! I was scared at first because some stupid kid was too hot, got on too many rollercoasters, therefore puked. I thought I'd get sick, but once I rode it, I was begging my mom for more, and I still ride it till this very day. I'm going to Hershey Park in a few days, and I'm excited to ride this!!!
The first time I went on this ride was when I was about 12 or 13. We went to HersheyPark with some relatives that were in town from another state and we'd thought it would be a fun time to take them to Hershey to ride the rides (at this time tickets were cheap and not $66 for a daily ticket). We walked past this ride to go to another ride and my mom said "Hey do you want to ride this ride?" I was skeptical at first like most people are when they see the sign "SooperDooperLooper (At this time the sign was blue and not orange). I made up my mind and said "Yes." We get in line and it wasn't bad. We saw the one car go up the tracks then saw the other car come into the station and waited till everyone got off then we hopped on (I was in the middle, 8th or 9th car from the back with my cousin). We strapped in and then the people came to make sure we were strapped in and off we went. At this point I was NERVOUS! But knew I was okay. We went around the turn and down the drop which was a lot of fun then I saw the loop and closed my eyes and I could feel the loop and it was insane! After that it was all smooth sailing.
SooperDooperLooper is only the second ever full circuit steel looping coaster. So at the time they were very proud of the loop. The first was Revolution at [Six Flags] Magic Mountain.
Actually there were a few looping coasters built in the late 1800s' early 1900s'. Centrifugal Railway, Loop the Loop and Flip Flap Railway were all built around the last Turn of the Century.
Lol I remember I was real young my dad, me and my sister went here and since me being little I was scared to go upside down, so my dad was like it doesn't go upside down, so we get on the sooper dooper looper and little did I know, it went upside down 🤣. Ahhh good memories
Looping coasters do not need to have Over the shoulder restraints, its only more intense modern designs that require them. most of the schwarzkopf coasters were lapbar only (there is a pretty large group that want revolution restored like SDL was to run without harnesses)
Yes it was built in 1977 and was the first coaster in the east of the United States to have a loop. Thus the name. It's kind of lame by modern standards, but it was my first looping coaster when I was a kid. It's still a pleasant ride, but if you want really fast, Skyrush is right across the road :).
That has to be one of Arrows first loopers! I was fond of the one at Great America in Chicago [whatever the park is called today] The Devil, or Demon, or somesuch. Tall hill, double loops then a corkscrew [you've seen the model all over the country] But this one has much prettier surroundings!
Everyone is talking shit about this ride but it was the first looping coaster I ever rode and I love it!
Haha yeah this was my first roller coaster in general
The people who think it is OK to trash talk this ride need to respect when it was built and the intended audience...
SAME I RODE IT WHEN I WAS 5 AND LOVED IT

I totally agree with this
I agree!!!! I love super duper looper it's so fun!!

Logan Rogalski it helped me conquer fears of roller coasters to
lol my first roller coaster was sky rush

1977
It also had two loops originally but they had to remove it due to the fact it never made it around the second one... so they kept the name as a joke
Have you heard of the Ten Inversion Coaster look it up that’s the actual name for the ride
Yuuki Takemoto no it didn’t....
Jaime Brown 1971*
For all of those people who think it's stupid that you only go through one loop, back then looping coasters were a huge deal! And that coaster is old!
And still smooth
Considering it was the first looping coaster on the east coast, and it is almost 40 years old, the Sooper Dooper Looper is a well cared for classic. Sorry for responding 3 years late but this is not unique at all its nearly the same model as Revolution at six flags magic mountain
@@pantstownusa6371 not true, as the loop on the new reveloution is at the middle, and this is at the beginning. Not to mention this is a shorter ride.
Lol when they went in the tunnel one guy screamed "I CANT SEE"😂😂
That reminded me of when I went on that ride when I was younger and was terrified. So when we hit the tunnel everyone on the ride said "WOOOO!" and then you hear me, scared out of my mind "NOOOOO!" 😭
LOL
I am going to hershey park today and I am going to ride the sooperdooperlooper to get over my fear of going upside down
Epic Games 200 I have to go this year and I'm so scared
Epic Games 200 don’t be scared I went on this ride 10 times! You got this!
Emma Hall don’t be scared! It’s not as scary as you think
Same
So how did you do?
Are we just going to ignore the kid giving us a salute @ 0:07
Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lucas Harrison it was actually scary D: I understand why he did that
Bruh 🤣🤣🤣
Funny ... : )
This thing is a true classic. It also introduces people to inversions.
Joseph Campisi Yeah. It was my first loop coaster
This is a perfect starting coaster, gives you a feel of the loop, a drop, and speed, plus it's really fun

Mine was California Screamin’ at Disney land
Mine was impulse
Yeah, this was my first inversion too.
My friend and I went on this 10 TIMES until Hershey Park closed last summer! Loved it! Hershey is so amazing! :)
I went on this rollor coaster with a friend 28 times in a row (we counted). It was almost closing time so we went on it with no wait

This was the first rollercoaster I have even been on..
Went there last week, a hole sh*t load of spiders all over the stations ceiling.
This was the first roller coaster I ever rode (I was maybe 9 years old) and it warms my heart to think back on that moment.
This was one of the original coasters in the park next to the Comet
Yup this was my first real roller coaster 30 something years ago I was instantly hooked. Awning on taking my son and daughter here next week to make it their first coaster too

I LOVED THIS RIDE!
What's up with covering the whole track with catwalks ? "Inspired by japanese Jet-Coasters" ? :P
I love the older looking guy at 0:15!

I rode this one about 40 years ago as a child! It’s still going!!
Man this is a fun ride. RODE IT IN THE RAIN’ 👌🏻. IT WAS SO FUn!!!!
I am going to Hershey park soon so I am looking at all the rides.

Why tf was the comet my first ride
I went on that roller coaster because I felt like I wouldn’t have a heart attack and my friends asked me if I really wanted to do it and I was like yeah yeah totally. I swear I passed out.
Was that the same company that created The Whizzer at Six Flags, Great America in Gurnee, Illinois?
I remember that ride from when I was a kid in the 80’s 😁😁😁

I love the new look and trains for this ride. this is old but it is still fun
When did it open? Because in Maryland the is a roller coaster with a loop and it opened in 1982.
They didn't make you wear a harness when the coaster has loops??
Hi! Is this a good coaster to start off with? I am coming here for a school field trip and I always start off small.

Hershey is starting to look like Knott's with all that coaster clutter.
would love to come here one day
That's the one thing about the super dooper looper it has nice scenery while on the ride
Was this made by the same manufacturer as Revolution at SFMM?
Witch camera do you use?
This is the first ride I go on everytime time i come here xD
sharp. I have a question. how do u not fall off the loop with just the lap belt?
Omg just went on it today helped me conquers my fear of roller coasters and I have such a big fear of roller coasters my first big roller coaster
Did I miss something or was there only ONE loop??
I was expecting allot more😅😅

Anyone know who made this coaster??? Looks to be a Zamperla but Im now sure lol ;-)

Third in the world, Corkscrew at cedar Point opened in 1976, along with Revolution, while this opened in 1977
It opened in 1977.
I remember wondering where the super duper loops were when I rode it lol.
This was the first looping coaster in the eastern US, of course it’s not going to be as intense, this was built in 1977 not 2017
Well done!
Okay I'm on my why to Hershey Park right now and I'm so going to ride this again it is the best rollercoaster I wrote ever there
BEST RIDE EVER its cool for everyone from kids to adults rate:10/10
For such an old coaster, it's so damn smooth.
My first loop
this was the first in the East Coast. i never rode revolution so i dont know which one is better
This looks much better then Corkscrew
I rode front row on this the first time i went on it
How the hell do you scream on this ride.
This is my favorite ride
Is It An Old Ride ?
That is my first coaster with a loop in it.
hey sharp does this take your picture?
That was the first MODERN coaster to have a loop. Many loops came before it.

i made the mistake of leaning forward a bit on the drop and my head got shoved part way into my crotch on the loop
William Dinicola lmao same
My First loop. :) Yesterday. XD Then I was like Great Bear and sky rush plz.
Same, although i had to go on Comet before i was completley sure i wanted to do skyrush

No. Its really fun!!
