Hey Billy, great video. I almost spit my coffee out when you said you loved Don Zimmer getting tossed to the ground LOL. The smile on your face when those words came out of your mouth was too funny. Zimmer had a head that belonged in the Macy's Day Parade.
@TheDadsAreHere 🤣 Thanks, my friend! I just always remember thinking what he gonna do waddling in there at probably close to 70 years old. What did he think was gonna happen! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Griffey was amazing! I saw Pujols in person. He was pretty crazy too especially in his younger days! Griffey had amazing physical gifts, though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey Tony, good to hear from you, man! I hope you are well. I'm still waiting for your first UA-cam video!🤣 I'm just giving you a hard time. I consider you a friend as well, and I hope we can hang out again soon! Thanks for watching and commenting.
2001-2011 Pujols was other worldly. We were blessed as Cardinals fan to witness that. I feel we were robbed of the 500th, 3000th hit and 600th HR milestones. At least we got 700. The Machine was something else. I remember when he was the first to achieve .300/30/100 for the first 4 seasons of his career and he did it for the first 10 of his career. I was at the game when he hit HR #30 in 2011 for the first to do it in the first 11 years to “start” a career.
@jon-eriksuermann9844 There were times during his career that I thought he was going to hit a homerun every at bat. He was other worldly. Thanks as always Jon!
@LouRokTV Dude, he was nasty with the movement on his changeup. And really, he was just a dog. One of the most competitive dudes ever. Thanks for watching and commenting, Lou!
@vintageonvintage817 Thanks, my friend. It's so tough, so many amazing players! I would have to put Nolan Ryan next, no question. I really considered putting him 4th.
@studfieldmouse1369 Thanks for watching and commenting. It's all very subjective. There are those who will argue til they're blue in the face that he's the best pitcher ever. I disagree with that, but it is hard to argue with an opinion.🤣 Thanks again.
Great lists and well articulated rationale. But I’d sub Carlton for Pedro on the Pitchers. For the Batters, you made a great case for Pujols. But I’d have Bench at %2, Junior at #3, and a 3-way tie between Rose/Schmidt/Brett at #4, all ahead of Rickey. Just my .02
That's why these types of conversations are so much fun! There are so many great players, and it's so hard to order them, especially across generations of baseball. I've actually had people argue that Henderson should be number 1! 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting as always, Mark!
For me it’s the following because I am a true die hard cardinals fan. Pitchers: Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, John Tudor, and Lee Smith Position Players: Ozzie Smith, Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and Willie McGee I may be a blind loyalist, but so be it. Being at Griffey’s 500th HR game was phenomenal though.
Great shoutout and great picks man! I would have picked Nolan because of the longevity of his career as compared to Koufax, but I don’t disagree with your top 4.
Thanks for the response to my contest. Yes, you are a biased Cardinals fan. Check the difference in walk totals and OBP between Albert and Rickey. Rickey's plate discipline made him devastating since he would turn walks into doubles or triples most of the time.
Saint Louis wouldn't offer him as big a deal because some of his peripheral numbers decreased his last season in STL. He declined pretty quickly, but I think he would have been on a better team in STL, and maybe his numbers wouldn't have dropped off so much. His first 10 or 11 seasons are amazing. I'm happy I got to see him play. Thanks again!
I think your picks were spot on, the only possible deletion would Schmidt for Henderson. Only because Schmidt is the greatest of all time at 3rd base and Henderson is not the greatest outfielder of all time.
@user-id8vv4lw2l Hey Graig! I really wanted to include Schmidt. 3 MVPs! He's very likely the best 3rd baseman ever. I really dislike his career batting average and his 2,200 hits. If this was for or 6, like Ryan, he'd be in it. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend. I hope you and yours are well!
Also, I just wanted to add that Griffey was a GREAT pick- he just loved the game so much. He is the kind of player that everyone strives to be. It was too bad he got hurt so much in Cindy. Him and Jeter, I could watch them everyday and twice on Sunday.
@user-id8vv4lw2l He's my favorite player of all time, so I definitely agree with you! I really disliked the Yankees back in the day, but Jeter was a lot of fun to watch. Very competitive, he reminds me of a baseball version of Kobe in some ways.
Hey man. I really wanted to continue as a follower and subscriber of your channel but I have to delete you due to the fact that you excluded the best pitcher ever that was stuck on the worst teams in baseball. If you blank out Nolan Ryan then you might as well blank out Bob Gibson as a top 10 (or better) pitcher of all time. Come on man. Next thing your tell me is Texas BBQ is not better than St. Louis style. Really???? Hey man. Just playing. I put Ryan 1st BUT I grew up in Angel town and he had just HUGE stats on that HUGE crap team. He should be a 3 plus time cy young award winner. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

I love Nolan Ryan. He's one of my favorite pitchers of all time. I thought really hard about adding him. Most strikeouts of all-time and lowest hits per 9 of all time. He definitely got screwed out of Cy Young awards for sure. So much of was about wins back then. I've had people argue that Frank Tanana was a better pitcher on those Angels teams! 🤣
Great video, thanks for sharing your thoughts
@@ACollectorsDream Thanks for watching Orlando!
Gave a video like. Fun hearing your Mount Rushmore of living pitchers and position players. Thanks for sharing
@Hodges1455 Thanks, Brian! Much appreciated, my friend.
Can’t argue against any of those picks. Glad I got to watch most of them play in person. Watching Griffey in his prime was really something.
@signsofthepastime Thanks, Hugo! I appreciate you watching and commenting. Griffey was a monster!

Griffey Jr is probably the best I ever got to see play in my lifetime. It’s a shame the injuries got to him. Great list Billy!
Griffey was amazing! I saw Pujols in person. He was pretty crazy too especially in his younger days! Griffey had amazing physical gifts, though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I consider you a friend and I met you at the UA-cam function in Cleveland. It was great talking to you. This is Tony from Tennessee

Hi Billy. Really good list of pitchers and players, with rational behind each them. Thanks for sharing my friend, talk soon pal
@RipFan8 Thanks, my friend! It was tough!

FYI. 1987 Nolan Ryan leads the league in strikeouts AND era but goes 8-14. Even at 12-10 he sweeps the Cy Young voting.
Very solid Mount Rushmore list my friend. Hard to argue with any of those choices. Before I add Ryan, I would go with Carlton and Palmer for pitchers!
@vintageonvintage817 Thanks, my friend. It's so tough, so many amazing players! I would have to put Nolan Ryan next, no question. I really considered putting him 4th.
All well said, Billy 🤛🏻
@brentrichardsbaseballcards Many thanks, Brent. 🤜
FYI. As far as Koufax, Chavez ravine is a stadium where home runs go to warning tracks. I’m still in with this pick (maybe low)

A who's who of my favorite Cardinals players! It would be awesome to be able to see those types of milestones in person! Thanks, Jon!

@3D80sKid I saw that and thought about it but unlitmately Pujols' 3 MVPs and absurd HR and RBI totals pushed him over the top for me!
Had pujols stayed in STL. he maybe be top 5 all time

@@billyballgamesportscards no chance Tanana was better. Ryan pulled the old Whitey Ford stat and ALWAYS pitched against the opposition ace.
@studfieldmouse1369 No doubt! I always kind of laugh if off and say something to the effect of "if you say so."
