Great vid im using a canon 500Dfor rougly 2 years now an my absolute max is 3200 in emergencies but with my 150-500 from sigma i usually around 1600 on a tripod just to be sure so i do get a shutter speed of atleast 1/300 at F8 to shoot gooses and duck in the shade and with lightroom 4 you can work the noise away quite nicely if i say so but within a year i'l have an 60d as my main camera and my 500d as backup so tyvm for this handy video :D
Thankyou for the video comparison, 60D obviously better than 500D because of its newer technology, but I am surprised to see 60D's ISO3200's performance that for me, it looks that it drops significantly from ISO 1600..
i use 500d (not profesional) for 2 years now and there are times when the light is low and the inbuild flash i too slow to do burst so u need to crank the iso to 12800 just to make the high speed blurd background shots :)

i have noise on ISO100 and a lot of that Red Blue and White-Black-crosshair (fail)pixels with 500D, i think its time for an upgrade
