The single best thing that has helped me improve over the years is reviewing every flight using GoPros. I have a wire that connects the Go Pro to the radios so I can hear everything thats been said when I watch it back.
After every single flight i review:
    What was good?
What can I do better? and
    What did I learn?
And if you do the same you will see your radio game skyrocket!

I found "Live ATC" for android really helpful ...I pick an airport preferably local and copy what they say and respond as if it was me They were speaking to ...or invest in a Airband Receiver (scanner) again copy what they say ifound it really helpful

I would also add saying “standby” as a cheat tip. Sometimes you might be turning or climbing etc and you might feel you’re pressured to reply. You’re not, they dont mind a few moments. I was turning over a waypoint (aviate) and confirming next heading and altitude (navigate) when they asked me for my eta at the next waypoint (communicate). I hadnt quite got that far in my plog process so i read back the qnh etc they gave and just said standby for eta. So they know you going to get back to them once you sorted yourself out.

Been watching your videos thanks a lot really helping me as I feel radio is holding me back a bit. I fly out of leading edge and have about 20 hours. Working towards solo consolidation at the moment. Soon as we get some decent weather!

Good video thanks although it can be difficult to watch with so much background music whilst your talking.

+Veni Vidi Amavi Thanks for all the positive comments! Great to hear you will be starting in the near future. I understand the worries about cost but take your time with it, make sure you do plenty studying and you will get it done in 45-55 hours 👍🏼 And enjoy it!

Hi Stuart, how do you record your audio through your go pro? Great idea to watch/listen back. Really useful video. Nick

You'd be surprised how much you miss until you watch it back. This is the cable I use amzn.to/2xNq9Mn
It will record the audio straight onto the GoPro and is by far the easiest way to do it.

Very good video, from Glasgow myself also have you tried VATSIM? That's what I'm doing right now as I'm 14 hoping to start PPL at 16 and in the long run fATPL. Its great for your phraseology as it uses real life procedures ect from CAP 935 and so on.

VATSIM is amazing for getting used to the language of the skies. When you begin your PPL you will be ahead of the game massively so keep it up! I've never used it personally but know all about it. Good luck with your training when it begins! Stuart

Very good. Feedback, music intrusive and unnecessary.

    • @StuartThePilot

Thanks and agreed - the music is far too loud and will be much less obvious in future videos. Stuart
