I just bought one today! Upgrading from my old Sony XA2. I hope Sony becomes more popular in the US, they are really great quality and well designed. I love that Sony doesn't copy the other brands by going tablet sized, removing audio jack and expandable storage, I love an underdog. Done with Samsung, finally!
@@flashfrdz1680 the 5iii is superior. XA2 is really old model and didn't work well in the US. 5iii has a US specific version. Also more storage space, better sound and display.
I have never owned a Sony I might need to give one a try. I need them to hop up in the foldable game. Good video thanks for supporting me and the crew! I will be here more now that I have found you.
I accidently came across your vid bruh n saw u lik sonys etc , sonys are some of the best lookin sophisticated smartphones outhere..but they do have specs now of the xperia 5 mach 4 .....instant sub 🔥🔥💨💨🙏🏿#DopeReview
Great question! The thermals on the 5 III in my experience did run just a bit toastier than the 1 III. But nothing to the point where it was uncomfortable to use/hold. I'm guessing the larger surface area of the 1 III allows the heat to dissipate better
Point and shoot photos are pretty solid. There's not a lot of oversaturation and the colors are very true to life. Fingerprint sensor has been very accurate and responsive. Side-mounted is by far my favorite implementation of the fingerprint reader
How does camera compare? Any differences? I love 1 iii but want the 5 iii for just the compact size. It still big enough screen but with everything from 1 iii in a slightly smaller body😎
The cameras are practically the same. The only difference is a Time of Flight sensor on the Xperia 1 III that helps with better subject separation for things like portrait shots. Helps give you a bit creamier natural bokeh and separate the subject of your photo from the background. I would say this is no great loss on the Xperia 5 III and your pictures will still turn out excellent without that extra sensor
Thanks for info! Just opted for 5-iii, delivery due in a couple of days. I considered 1-iv and 1-iii, but with overheating one of the most common drawbacks mentioned, I just couldn't do $1200-$1600 for a phone I was concerned with being able to fully use. Since you have both 5-iii and 1-iii, what are your observations on overheating?
The 1 III definitely got hot in comparison to the 5 III. The 5 III remained cooler for me under similar situations where the 1 III would be uncomfortable to hold. The 888 isn't the greatest chip at managing thermals but the 5 III remained cooler. Even with a case on, the 1 III got pretty toasty in the hand
I would have to agree, that is definitely a drawback to purchasing a Sony handset. However, I would say that if I purchased this phone from say Best Buy, I would definitely get the Geek Squad protection. Usually in my experience, the Geek Squad folks never actually work on the device. They usually just swap it out for a new one lol
Thanks for this review! One quedtion: what about updates, Security and Android ? how long will the Sony Xperia 5 be supported ? and is Sony quick in providing updates ? thanks a lot for your detailed answer!
Usually Sony get 2 step Up OS ,if it realeased with OS 12 then it'll receive 2 more Android upgrade, but after last update your phone still can compete with newer phone as my Xz1 compact, it last update OS was Android 9 but still better than android 10-11 on midrange phone
I have to agree with @Kholil Wae on that one. You don't get a ton of longevity in terms of OTA support but the phone still does compete even after the support window closes. However, that is definitely a downside to the Sony phones. At the prices they charge, they should be offering longer term support especially because they don't have that many devices in their lineup to support. Maybe we will see that change soon enough
I am actually using the Nothing launcher. It's the beta launcher for the new Nothing Phone (1). The launcher is available to download on the Play Store 😁

Thanks for the support! Y’all are the realest in the game. And a Sony foldable would be LIT!
@@twinfolktech everyone can do it better than Sammy and they were first to the game. Smh that's sad
Great video and btw the phone that you are using for your top down is absolutely killin' it.
Thanks for always being encouraging, Barry! And I am using an iPhone 12 currently

I don't know who you are but your presentation is verrrry nice sir. Liked and subbed

Awesome review, man. Only thing I'm curious about is does the compact size make it hotter? Or does it not really make a difference?

I bought mine last August, upgrading my Sony Xperia XZ1 to Sony Xperia 5 III
You are certain to enjoy it! It's a lovely compact device with A LOT of power!
Is there any green line issue as what's found widely in xperia 5ii ?
Am getting one before the year ends
How are the P&S pictures in basic mode? I would love to try this phone. Any issues with fingerprint sensor?

Sir how much screen on time you can get on Xperia 5 III while gaming or even normal used?
In normal use I would typically get around 5 hours of SOT
Have green Xperia 5 March III and it is awesome just Love it ❤️

The one reason I hesitate to buy a Sony Xperia is the lack of repair services. What are your thoughts on this?

I can not use English well. Sorry.
Thanks for your comment! The Xperia 5 is a BEAST. You've got a lot more features, flexibility and freedom than you'll have on iOS. Solid choice!
Thanks!

Has Xperia 5 III double tap to wake up function?
I honestly cannot recall. I no longer have the devices but I don't believe it has that function
Yes, it does!
Is the Xperia 5 III on video a green one or black?
It's green 🍏
@@twinfolktech is double tap to wake up function available?
@@OttomanEmpire40 I no longer have the phone but I believe the feature should be under display settings called "2 Taps to Wake" if I'm not mistaken

You only miss wireless charging when you cant use it.
If the wired charging speeds are fast enough, I can usually live without wireless charging.
