Can you release a longer version of this video? Lucas is so intelligent and I appreciate the background information and significance of all these places. This video was too short
Agreed. I could watch a 30 minute long version of this for all the restaurants in Hong Kong. Maybe they could pad out the time by showing more of the cooking process
As a Hong Kong-er, I love how Lucas always try to go into the cultural influences of each dish/practice. It really help the audience to understand why things are done the way that it is.
Love how Lucas shines a spotlight on these amazing spots, how he gets so enthused about the dishes and how he brilliantly continues to educate us at the same time!
This is one of the best things I've seen. What a great capture of culture, cuisine, and art. Kudos to chef Lucas for engaging the audience and the editor of keeping it simple and very high in energy.
watching that felt like 1 minute. it was that immersive. Lucas is an amazing presenter and story teller! Humble and thoughtful with hints of pride and humor. Real.
just brilliant - your capturing an era of street food that will only be a myth in the future - and I have to say the fact you were geeking out just makes it so much better mate - I hope you keep doing more of these
I like Lucas speaking Cantonese. That wok chef is awesome with his yellow fit & white rubber boots. He was so nice to show Lucas the barrel of kerosene. I would eat the green bean stir fry & the jiew yeem squid. 😊
Loving Lucas hosting these videos. He is incredibly knowledgeable and and his enthusiasm is infectious. Not to mention you can tell he is having a great time. More of this please
Truly appreciate the way Lucas presents the local Hong Kong traditional cuisine in such a structured and interesting way, and I like the way he described the process in detail and it’s not boring to watch the whole video
Lucas is switching channels like no one's business. I love it lol. Stoked for him. It's BA, but it's pretty sweet that they're letting him travel Hong Kong!
just love lucas! i wish he had a series traveling in china and explaining the history and culture of different dishes. i would watch it all in one sitting and revisit it often. the complexity and subtlety of chinese cooking has captured my imagination after making a couple of his recipes 🙃
That was great, Chef Lucas, and the whole video was fantastic, the wok chef with the yellow shorts was so nice, even though he was so busy he took a minute to talk.
Many restaurants that serve stir fry or Chiu Chow cuisine just put tables on the street and cook inside. Still great and there’s at least 10 in one part of Yuen Long.
Making me want to go visit Hong Kong and bring my kids. I was born there, but my family immigrated to the US when I was 2. Only been back twice, the last time was 1993.
My favourite meal in Hong Kong and my favourite place to bring visitors. This episode must have been shot in winter, otherwise the chefs shirt would be off 😅
Thank you Lucas!!! my family is heading to HK this summer and will order the same exact dishes. We also have reservation at Mott32 for their Crispy duck (unless someone else has a better recommendation) and Yat Lok for roasted geese.
If you have a chance to go, go! These are cultural icons of HK, but due to government and the younger gen apathy they will be gone soon. Singapore has a similar situation but there are signs they are trying to save the cultural cuisine there.
This is so well edited and I love the host and how he gives little fun facts like about the wok. I grew up eating wok hey dishes but never knew the science behind it! Makes so much sense!

This is one of the best things I've seen.
What a great capture of culture, cuisine, and art.
Kudos to chef Lucas for engaging the audience and the editor of keeping it simple and very high in energy.
Lucas is such an enthusiastic, intelligent, and passionate host. I could watch him talk about food all day.
That Chef is literally cooking with aviation fuel. Mad respect.
Lol, plain kerosene is not aviation fuel.
Aviation fuel for jets is kerosene. Avgas is formulated for light aircraft. @@rajuaditya1914

Dont forget the seafood chef with his teddy bear apron
I like it too -- the food came out fast and furious -- the pea shoots usually taste really yummy.

He resembles actor Anthony Wong.
Dude legit cooks with jet fuel. More badass than anyone else..

Cooking with kerosene was very common in Hong Kong until town gas become popular.
@@kencube86 And when the Hong Kong government stopped giving licenses for it.
I was hanging on to every word Lucas was saying. Lucas is a fantastic host, ambassador, and narrator of Hong Kong cuisine.

That was sublime. Made me feel like I was there. The cook is a rockstar.
Sublime + energizing; as Cantonese, we could almost taste the magnificent dishes as they came to Lucas' table.
I love watching these types of videos, the culture of street food is beautiful
Great editing and production quality
Lukas needs to have his own channel. Wow great energy!
Cantonese food is one of the best in the world.
The seafood butcher with the teddy bear apron. 🤣
the wok hei, breath of the wok, is sure to hit all the flavour notes! 🤤
dude i love this guy
How sad these places are disappearing! Glad other cities in Asia continue to support street food.
Michelin needs to go there and give these hard working masters the credit they deserve
love watching your HK adventures, Lucas.
Thank uou Lucas! You find us authentic
