- Way up in a corporate tower, the decision was made...as of 2012, after over a quarter of a century, Groucho Marx would no longer be a character at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Here's a heartfelt farewell from Groucho #1 (the full-time actor of the 3 who played the role on different days) who leaves after 26 1/2 years.
I loved when I got to see the actors for the Marx Brothers there. Please bring them back, all of them.
So sad to see him go! My grandmother of blessed memory was lucky enough to meet the real Groucho in her younger years. When I was a kid my family took her to Universal while she was still mobile. She had Alzheimer's and thus her grip on reality was a bit skewed. I will never forget the look on her face when we encountered Groucho, since she didn't realize he was a cast member. She told him he hadn't aged a day! I don't remember his response but I'm sure it was hilarious!
Aw, that's sad. =( This character is not at Universal anymore. 2012 was his last year, huh? I never got chance to meet Groucho. But I bet he was a funny character to hang around with. He seems like a funny guy to meet. The Groucho actors must be surely missed by their fans out there.
I remember getting to meet him :-)
He pretended he was a statue and sprung to life LOL
I saw him do that too! He scared the crap out of a young girl
A total professional. Who Makes these asinine decisions?? Don't worry, you can always be entertained by dancing sailors........ jeez......
I mix him
aww man. The only reason I wanted to go to Universal is gone now D:
@pogodad1958 *hugs* During a recession, no one is allowed to have any fun (except for the top 1% income tax bracket).
Love you, Groucho(s)!! :-(
