I like it. I’ve never been sold on the new Primarus look, as really love the bulky gothic aesthetic, the models just look more solid and survivable. Plus who doesn’t love British WW1 tanks in the future.

Definitely my preferred shape. 40k to me has always had that impractical aspect. Everything is just vaguely brick like. I think of the Ep4 idea where the lightsabers were intended to be heavy and harder to control to give that feel of something old and anachronistic. I'll have to see the kit but I'm optimistic price aside. I'm very pleased that GW seems to be really pushing the retro vibes with HH

I absolutely adore the land raider proteus. Also, being someone who runs a chaos force the heresy era kits fit the chaos theme way better than the current 'chaos' vehicle kits, which are just 40k era vehicles with spikes added for dramatic effect. If you have things like this, contemptor and leviathan dreadnoughts as well as other heresy era kits sprinkled among your 40k chaos force it makes the army feel much more like that 'veterans of the old war' theme i love about the way Chaos is portrayed in the lore.

This. While the more modern things fit for Renegades, either outright or recruits for the Legions, the Heresy era stuff just feels nice in a Chaos army.

Your comments about the Land Raider Exploratory at around 3:22 and being unsure of what it will do… The Exploratory is already in the Liber Astartes. (Gains Scout, loses some transport capacity, loses the front access port, few more points, can’t be taken as a squad)

in the nephlem era of low cp, GW really should get rid of "martial legacy" if they want to sell more of this HH stuff to 40k players

I would argue in general, Martial Legacy should go. Honestly I think the next editions of the CSM and SM Codex should just outright include Heresy era things in them and maybe just either balance them with the rest of the Codex or make them cost a bit more points wise.

Man I wanted one of the old one for my Thousand Sons collection (seems fitting that Chaos Legion have older versions), mostly because I like the model and the nostalgia it had for me. But it was hard to get and I didn't felt like hunting for one very seriously. But this new one, yes sir I'll get one for sure! Best of both world! Looks just like the classic (modernized, but still have the same visual cues), and easy to get!

Hey AT I know you don't cover Kill Team, but GW recently made one of their best decisions in recent memory by releasing an abridged version of the core rules and even a few datasheets. I think this is a step closer to GW finally making 40k rules public, or at least some of them. GW's good decisions should be publicly commended and I think your platform could reach a lot of people to show the company that this was the right move.

I find myself wondering if someone will make 3D printable component sets to build this kit as one of the variant Land Raiders. This as a basis for a Crusader, Redeemer, Prometheus or Helios would certainly look different. Those kits, mostly new sponsons, would of course likely fit the Spartan as well. But would a Spartan with gravis heavy bolter sponsons and no front weapons be useful on the tabletop?

  • @wolfgangrecordings
    @wolfgangrecordings 2 роки тому +2

what's the in-universe justification for having fully exposed tracks? in the real world during ww1 designers worked out pretty quickly that tank tracks required protection, because if one gets broken then the tank is a large and now immobile target for the enemy. it's obviously an aesthetic thing most of all, but usually there's a fluff-based reason for things being the way they are as well. if forcefields/void shields get involved then obviously this is moot (like on the krios & karaknos mechanicum tanks), but i feel like the astartes & guard usually rely on good old-fashioned armour for vehicular protection

I think they should do it kind of like the rhino and razorback assault ramp variant and then this version somewhere between the rhino and predator you have the razorback so maybe the one with the construction blade could be like a little penalty to movement or decrease carrying capacity or something that would be a neat way to get both models in the game as something more than just an occasional aesthetic oddity

Here is the only thing I don't like about these " over the top tank track" type kits, if you look the piece in the Middle where the tracks join together protrudes to the point that that's all that makes contact with the surface it makes it look like it's installed upside down real tracks have joints on them like that and they even protrude but the protrusion part is what the road wheels grab onto to propel it forward so it looks like the tank tracks are put on inside out. Plus side I love the way that the whole set of tracks is cut out and a big long individual slivers making them very easy to recast and convert a repulsor from a grav vehicle into the nych Superior track vehicle. 😜

I just keep imagining this video in relation to GW's scale issues. In my mind's eye I picture the old land raider as presented on the white background of Auspex's screen shot next to a primaris marine's booted leg with the marine's hip and other leg falling off the top and right edges of the screen, making the vehicle seem like a sort of in-universe Barbie Dream Land Raider, that a 40k 7-year-old could drive around the backyard in in comparison. 🤣

I dunno, Am trying to pick a party bus for Mortarian and his retinue but it's harder in the hh than 40k, Transport cap is an odd duck in hh, Proteus carrier has 12 and that is probably my best option so im happy to see the plastic doesn't look like booty but the explorator only has an 8 cap, Would of preferred the dozer blade even if its completely useless rulewise for my army, The Spartan is its competition and it has a tc of 26 which is crazy, Even with morty taking 6 spots I could never bring enough termies to fill that so I dunno if its worth the extra points, Thought maybe I could decide on looks but honestly the new plastic proteus is probably about the same as the spartan so it didn't help :3

That is not, and never has been, a dozer blade. That is a hedge cutter, and this isn't the first time you've been corrected on that.
The "new" model is unimaginative, but at least it looks a lot less easily broken than the notoriously fragile original kit that shed its guns if hit by a stiff breeze. Also doesn't have Imperial eagles on its (ugly) track links, which will make Chaos players feel better anyway.
I can still remember how proud GW was when they came out with the modern LR kit (around 2000-2001 IIRC) and devoted a big chunk of WD to how much better the detailing was, and here we are going into full nostalgic throwback mode and hardly anyone uses LR anyway.

The answer is: No, it doesn't. I don't understand why GW's only range of vehicle design now is outdated or overcomplicated.

Looks kinda meh. I'm not sure why you would get this versus just a traditional landraider.

Disliked them and thought they looked derpy AF in the 80's, and nothing has changed since.

Tbh, i never liked the looks of the 30k vehicles of old. Looked too much like WW1 crap compared to the slightly more modern looks of 40k. Maybe one of the reasons why I´m a fan of Cawl and the primaris looks.

It's boring, I don't care for the design. I understand it's "retro" but old and new design just look like first iteration world war I tanks. I know the 40K land raider is practically the same thing except armor atop the treads but it strikes a balance between original concept and future grim dark sci-fi. This new praetor design still looks like something out of axis and allies with extra bits

Personally I like that it's a bit more WW2 - suits the heresy quite nicely, brothers fighting brothers. The 2000s land raider always struck me as more of a xenos-unaliving machine.

@@clinch4402 Remember that vehicles and armor and weapons during 30k weren't developed to combat rival Astartes but whatever opposition the Imperium faced when laying claim to the galaxy, i.e. Humans, Xenos, etc - never other Astartes.
I argue that the 40k land raider is what should exist in 30k and the "modern" version should be iterated upon from that. But of course that's an argument from a personal opinionated lore viewpoint. I understand that the original design is literally 40 years old back when GWs models were squat, round, goofy, and less detailed all because modeling tech wasn't nearly as advanced as it is now.

@@clinch4402 or shit, do the exact opposite. Doesn't make sense that during the zenith of imperial warfare underneath the emperor of mankind that the land raider is less advanced in the ones being used after 10k years of stale technological advancements.
Idk, model bad me no like lol
