  • Courtenay Dempsey enjoyed an AFL career spanning over 11 seasons where he played over 130 games and although terrible injuries challenged him, on field he marvelled us with his athletic abilities dashing off half back and at times his jaw-dropping soccer skills.
    Since his AFL playing days, Courtenay has been a strong advocate for indigenous people all around Australia, leading a program called ‘Speak Up, Speak Out’ encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to speak up about family and gendered violence, he run programs to help with Indigenous employment and been an ambassador for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.
    He also has been an active representative on the Long Walk to the MCG and the Little Long Walk at the Australian Moto GP.Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round in the AFL is a round that is close to Courtenay's heart and it is a round he has had the privilege to participate in throughout his career.
    In this exclusive interview Courtenay speaks about representing his proud indigenous background through Sir Doug Nicholls Round, on the big stage at the MCG for 'Dreamtime At The G' and his thoughts on the game being played in 'The Top End' in 2020.
    He also explains his miraculous kick off his back heel whilst running at full speed out of the back line in 2014 against the Gold Coast Suns.
