Hey, This is Leo Fonseca, the artist responsible for that Tribute Painting of GNP that will hopefully hang in his new building..I just want to thank you all for this E P I C performance, thanks for being the incredible band that I am and will forever be proud of being a part of, you are all my family, and I thank you all :) I will be back to campus for Homecoming this year to step into our new Home :) Eyes With Pride, Leo Fonseca UMass Hogline 2006/2007
That is the best marching band ever. (Not to mention one of the loudest I've heard!) He must have been one mindblowing band director judging by this performance.
the big ten schools always show tremendous respect for the marching bands. Must feel good to have 110,000 give a standing ovation. haven't seen the minutemen live in a long time but might have to figure out a way to see them this season.
I met George Parks while I played the alto saxophone in the Cathedral High School band, under the direction of his wife, Jeanne Parks. Thank you for posting this video. I want to thank the UMASS Minuteman Marching Band for everything that they have done in honor of their talented and knowlegable director.
Thank you for posting from all the Massachusetts high school band kids who were inspired by UMASS Minuteman Marching Band and Mr. George Parks. He showed us how great it could be.
Well done, Baby Band. I couldn't even manage watching this without crying--I can't imagine how hard it must have been to march that show. Mr. Parks would be incredibly proud that you partied through tears and turned out that amazing of a performance. Thank you for making it crazy for him.
Thank you for posting this! If any UMMB members who were part of this Michigan performance read this: know that all of us who knew Mr. Parks are so proud of each and every one of you and we wish we could have been there to support you in person. - UMMB member 1994.
you guys are coming to my school later this week (Decatur Central) i really hope i get to watch you all practice, our band director talks about you guys all the time, and we all absolutely love your music and everything
Thank you Michigan for your wonderful support and appreciation for our band. Your kindness was most welcome. Thank you also for TheRivideoguy for posting this so promptly - great job. RIP Mr. Parks.
Thanks so much for posting this video. George Parks knew how to inspire and motivate. When the band performed he always had an expression of deep joy, like a proud father. Godspeed. - UMMB Trombone section, 1981. UMASS Class of 1986.
2:37 is my absolute favorite part...both the sound and the performance at that point in time literally defines what George N. Parks was all about... :')
@BLinDaTbESt me too! I'm joining marching band next year, and this performance makes me absolutely giddy with excitement at being part of something so wonderful! :D UMASS has the best marching band ever
I remember in 1999 - 2000 when I asked George the first day of summer band camp if I could switch from clarinet to Mellophone. He said OF COURSE! There were like 18 of us that year, and my first ever brass attack, and we played the mask of Zorro.... ! Anyone know if there is a video of the 1999 - 2000 season anywhere?
