Nice car but a little heads up on the idle hours of those police cars ,usually the cams are wore out from hours of setting running. No worries because there is alot of room in the engine compartment for a cam swap.
I take it PPV = Police Pursuit? THIS is the Caprice we should have gotten ten years ago! Australia was lucky to have this Caprice sold by their brand Holden. Wayyyy ahead of the Impala design the U.S. had from 2000-2005, and reskinned from 2006-13. This Caprice would have picked up nicely from where the 1991-96 "whale" model left off.
With these you have to worrie about the major problem with the seriously flawed active fuel manegment system. It deactes half of the cylinders and causes the deactivated cylinders to seize up causing catastrophic engine failure an engine rebuild. (The engine seizes up and seizes to exist.)
@@Mc88Flyy dod delete and a considerate cam replacement plus a vcm otr intake makes for a fun car. A proper dyno tune makes it a fast car. Next level comes in the form of a torque converter.
I really liked the car. Car has tons of space . The ride quality is pretty good too. The cars can be had for a pretty good price but like said in the comments you must watch out for the idle hrs. The dod lifters are a common wear/failure point. And if possible get a 9c3 . Save your time and money on one of those so u don't have to mess with piecing together a g8 center console and having to tune in the slip stick .
Yea the intake is aftermarket and the engine cover doesnt come on the ppv's. I had put one of my old G8 engine covers on it and it fit perfectly. Just don't like them because they hold alot of heat on the engine.
Mr. O. In the USA it would be hard to find original interior trim unless you can find a wreck, the vinyl seat covering and rubber floor mats aren’t available in Australia. Never were. Windows and body panels, bumpers ( slightly different ) are plentiful in Oz. Mechanicle stuff should be easy enough to find, but headlights and tail lights could spoil your fun.
OOOOOOOO that's an aluminium holden V8. Just gonna suck getting parts for it but other than that, It's a straight up fucking beast. You might want to think about getting the cam looked at though. Usually they are cooked from consatnat idling.
Shift my gear yes but no the g8 is based on the ve commodore ss and the caprice is just a Holden caprice and it shares the wagons wheelbase and is longer then the g8/ss. The zeta platform is the basically the same for the most part

10-4 on the idle hrs. I was lucky with this car being it had just gotten a new motor .

That cold air intake wasn't standard on Holdens. That and you are missing an engine cover.
