What is the point of Ed Davey? And for that matter, what is the point of the Liberal Democrats? I have one as my local MP and she is especially inept; she offers nothing in terms of political ideas or leadership, much like her boss.
How do so many of them get into the House of Lords?

The Post Office CEO at the time and her officials, Fujitsu officials and the government need to be before a court explaining why this travesty has gone on for more than 20 years. A national disgrace.
Alan Bates lost his post office in 2003! The CEO at the time was Adam Crozier who's name was never mentioned in the drama! Why?
Tony Blair (labour ) was PM and allegedly was told about problems with the Horizon computer system but allowed it to be put into service. His name was never mentioned! Why?
Ed Davey was post office minister when Alan Bates wrote requesting a meeting which Davey refusing too meet him!
He now blames the post office of misleading him! Yeh right!
Both labour and tories are too blame along with both former CROSS.
Very strange Crozier is omitted, hopefully the momentum from this excellent drama will route out ALL who had a part to play in hounding the post masters, Blair too.

The Post Office didn't want it, DWP had turned it down, but Mandelson assured Blair it was secure, so Blair decided to sign up for it in 1999.

I worked for the post office during this period.. I can tell you we all had to stay behind with no pay.. whilst the manager sifted through paperwork looking for thousands… the finger was pointed at all. Terrible time

Exposure of the members of Fujitsuwho were involved have not been. examined. It was their crap system and their staff extorting money Did they benefit from all the money refunded by post office postmasters. It is still going on ,Hard to believe. Heads must roll.
I have followed this problem since 2005, what a load of liers the post office have done to hundreds of innoncence people.
Ed Davey should have at least investigated the allegations being made, had a meeting with Bates, had a meeting with Vennells to explain herself, instead of just fobbing him off with corporate speak and passing the blame to elsewhere. This was a serious matter and he was Minster for Postal Affairs. What on earth was the point of him if he didn't look out for serious complaints. Utterly useless.
Privatisation is an excuse to allow crap like this to go unchecked.
@@andrewoliver8930 The Post Office is not privatised. It is 100% owned by the Govt. It is Royal Mail that was hived off and privatised. Since this has been going on for nearly 25 years so before you stat blaming a Tory Govt. it started under Tony Blair.

2. I didn't blame a Tory government. Blair did privatise stuff that even Thatcher wouldn't have dared touch such as schools, etc.
3. The minister of the government stated in an interview that he wanted to have a hands-off approach as it was a private business. Hence why I assumed the PO was privatised. Government ministers and all others involved in this cover-up should be tried for whatever crimes are linked to the scandal. The little people get the pain, injustice, and their lives badly affected whilst the cause of the issue get away with it.
@@andrewoliver8930 Although the Govt. owns the Post Office it has a board which actually runs it and is responsible for its management, corporate decisions and day to day running and organisation. A bit like the NHS. Although the Govt. funds it,it is the Trust boards which actually run the hospitals etc. So it was the board of the Post Office of which Paula Vennells was the CEO who were responsible for buying and having installed the faulty Fujitsu computer programme, for taking Post masters to Court, shutting down PO's, ruining lives etc because they refused to investigate the problems properly, refused to admit there was a problem, lied over and over again all to protect the reputation of the Post Office but more importantly their reputation as they were responsible. However having said that when MPs were alerted to this and indeed Ed Davey was written to personally by Alan Bates as the Post Offices Minister outlining the problems he was as per usual fobbed off. Certainly the Govt should have done more in investigate what was going on at the time. Fujitsu lied to the PO Board, the PO Board lied to the Post masters and the to Govt. Ed Davey failed to do his job properly and hence hundreds of ordinary people's lives were ruined. We are too polite and respectful in this country. We should learn to protest more and shout about injustice and even the press although it reported it at the time it took this TV programme to finally bring home to everyone the appalling damage the vanity of a few people can reek on many.

I have been watching the reports on this scandal for years. I really can't understand why now that these people have been cleared of any wrong doing that their accusers have not been brought to task and the Post Office are dragging their feet over the compensation that these people truly deserve.

May I just say, kudos to ITV for producing a wonderful and gut-wrenching dramatisation, and then to follow it with a great factual account. That is how you reach people. Take note, BBC. You don't have to loudly preach, just get a great script, great actors and let the public take it all in, as they are quite capable of doing. Now let's hope something comes of it all.

I grew up where his maternal grandparents kept a shop.They were a lovely couple,upstanding decent folk who could so easily have taken on a Post Office.
