I love how the interviewers kept making fun of her. "What's 9×8?" - "Spell literate, go on, give it a try ^^" lmao
I find it quite annoying because 1. There were so many serious criticisms to be brought up during an interview like that 2. Im not saying Truss is diagnosed, but difficulties like that signify Dyslexia, which is a real thing and doesn’t reflect somebody’s learnt knowledge and other competencies. The fact that Truss and the party was totally incompetent and immoral was coincidental!

Plenty of people are bad at memorisation (which primary school maths relies on) but are good at calculation (which higher maths relies on).
The way she spits out "It wasn't ballet or My Little Pony" - as if there's shame in little girls liking those things. I liked those things as a kid, but I liked science too. I also entered in spelling bees as a kid, I'm proud to say. Ones' interests have little bearing on their intelligence - _clearly._

Anyone who takes ballet seriously is like a brilliant painter using their own body, trained to peak physical fitness, as their brush. And MLP, which I always took to be some tacky thing relying on the appeal of ponies, I discovered to be a show of such charm and integrity that no other children's show could compete with. But in fairness I don't really know the full context of what Truss was trying to say.

Exactly the same thing was true of Johnson and yet he became Prime Minister, and so will Truss. FPTP enabled a minority of voters to elect her despicable party, which gives their crazed right wing membership the power to elect her. It's the disconnect between our view of ourselves as a democratic nation and the reality which is the real problem.

Do we? It was a cheap shot against a huge target a mile wide and high. Couldn't be missed. But what a brave journalist, pointing out the bleeding obvious. Where were all these great journalistic voices when the Johnson administration took a wrecking ball to our already fragile economy and placed us under virtual house arrest? I can think of only one journalist who had the courage and integrity to challenge it at the time in March 2020, and it wasn't her.

This is what happens on an island 3 times bigger than Ireland BUT with 12 times the population. Similar developments in change in economic structure are happening in Ireland as the population increases and people move from farming to leisure use of land such as parks, golf courses and equestrian centres. There is also a move from generic meat and plant produce to high end localised produce with specific protections of origin and names for such produce.
Britain could never be self sufficient in food given its extremely dense population and economic structure and land use.
What they could do is protect names of produce, cheese being a good example, where cheddar would have to be made in England to be called cheddar. The EU does this all the time with geographic naming of foodstuffs. Brexit probably ruins this though.
History will point it out that lettuces in the fridge lasted longer than her being a PM.

A sensible and honest lawyer (who can relate to the every day person because likes a beer in the pub) in contrast with Johnsons obvious corruption. His supporters were using that phrase all the time.
