This video surfaced near the dawn of UA-cam. So simple, yet mesmerizing. I became a Dallas Mavericks/Dirk Nowitzki fan when they beat San Antonio in that legendary Game 7 in SA and this video made me the biggest Dirk fan when I was in 10th grade in high school and now, here I am 32 years old, rooting for Dallas against Boston. I miss watching Dirk but happy I got to watch him play in his prime and that he got his priceless ring. There will never be another like him.
This was one my favorite UA-cam videos in 2006. First saw it when I was 13, now I am 30. How time flies. Still a beautiful homage to one my favorite athletes of all time. I remember the allstar game in 2000, in austrian tv(where I come from) dirk was sitting at the commentary table and michael finlay was allstar. today finlay enjoys watching his old team member and can say "hey, I used to play with the best player of 2007". go on working dirk, next year you'll get the ring!
Dirk Nowitzki is such a dominative player on the offens court and its great to have a player like that on your team. And hes one of the best BIG MAN shooters at the NBA. So he can score from any where.

I feel happy for Dirk winning a championship after working so hard for it for over a decade. What I don't appreciate is his bandwagon fans criticizing LeBron James. They are both elite NBA players. Dirk just played better than LeBron in the Finals and I give him credit for that. If my team loses, I don't get mad like other Heat fans and put hate comments. Dirk Nowitzki had a legendary playoffs, especially against the Thunder and the Heat. Thumbs up if you agree.

Dirk is a beast. i still say his scoreing is just as immpossible to stop as Kobe Bryants scoreing. 7 feet tall shooting fadeaways and 3's.. and takes to the hole. One of the rare complete player,, a 7 footer that can run, dribble like a small guy,, and can burn the hoops from outside. An elegant basketball at its best. Most importantly,, never leaves his team even in their defeat for the quest of personal glory,,anybody know somebody who left his teamrecently to get a ring.. worst is,,that guy might not get it either in his new team. A flower might be their torn. I do hope kidd can get his ring before he retires.
You might be able to argue on the first camera view, but the second camera view is definitive, he made what looked like an attempt but really it was just a pose that saved the embarrassment of being dunked on, if he was truly going for the ball he would not have flown away from Nowitzki like he was radioactive. That was pure showmanship on his part, if he had been truly going for the ball he would have got it or fouled trying to get it. Did you note that, I disagreed with you with insulting you.

I am a Dallas fan and I was so happy to see the franchise AND Dirk receive their first ring. But let's be honest here. The Dallas Mavericks should be TWO TIME NBA Champions. We all know how 2006 turned out since the fix was in that year for Miami.

Dirk started out his career as a skinny white dude with no hops, a decent looking jumper and a guy who would step away if a bigger guy came right at him attacking the rim. Dirk has the BEST work ethic of ANY NBA player. Nobody has ever worked as hard as him. You have guys like Vince Carter, LeBron James, and even Michael Jordan himself, that are so athletically gifted. Dirk has worked his way up to that top 15 player all time level with his work ethic

He adjusted his game as he's got older, with his off balance jumpers and fade aways. Like Kobe Bryant. Lot of players fall into demise because they thought they would be forever young.

Dirk is probably the most complete player there ever was in the NBA. Maybe not as stylish as Jordan or Johnson. But he can virtually do everything with greatness; dunking, 3-pointers, blocking, game play reading, center play, etc.
