Duper humble n nice guy and very willing to share a lot on his knowledge. Got a few shrimps from him and eventually always talked for quite a bit outside his place.
I also started back during Covid. I try to do some experiment trying not to use alot expensive powder or control the PH or GH or check on the TDS and without chiller. My tank still doing ok and shrimp keep on breeding for almost 2 years now without water change and only using fan to cool down the temperature as long below 28c,. Tank is covered with java moss after 2 years. I feed them every 3 days and top up water using filter water.
i quit in 2020. mostly because of no time and i did not have water sorce in shrimp room, had to bring RO water from another place, that was the bigest problem, but started again in 2022. in a new shrimp room
i quit shrimp keeping too, was keeping caridina and the shrimps were flourishing. but lack of space and the increasing bills from having the chiller on 24/7(i'm in sg too) was the reason why i quit 😢
In Asia it is common to keep below 100. Like for my tanks too between 85 to 90 in the most part. But there Isn't much difference keeping at tds 120 150 because GH 3 to 6 works ok.

85 tds seems extremely low to me. I keep mine 120 but I see people keeping Caridina at even 150. Interested to know why he decided to use 85?
