+James Hay-Mackenzie Agreed. Robertson was all class. He scored only three Test tries, but a lot more were scored because of something he set up. Michael Jones was in a world of his own. John Reason, the long-time Rugby correspondent for the Telegraph, and a man most emphatically not in love with New Zealand rugby, wrote in his valedictory article, when he retired, that he considered Michael Jones to be the best rugby player Reason had ever seen.
Robertson was indeed all class he had tons of gas but he was wonderful at straightening up the back line committing players and then setting up his outside players wonderful
Choice compilation bro. We watch today's ABs produce some bloody awesome tries but after watching this, boy its no wonder the All Blacks have always been the top dogs in union.
Some epic team tries in this video. The passing and running skills over the years in the All Blacks hasn't changed at all. Good to see some older tries in there too awesome vid
yes indeed and Timu absolutly in touch. At 5.05 foward pass from Marshall to McCaw,the comintater even says "up it goes to McCaw. New zealand get away with murder thats what makes them look so good
For mine Stu Wilsons against the boks (3rd test) in 81; Mouries vs Wales in 80; Reid vs Oz in 80; Joe Morgan vs boks in 76; BG Williams solo try on 1970 tour of Saffaland and Kirkpatrick vs Lions in 71. No particular order.
1:22 For the week before this game, Tony Underwood, the England right wing, and a young man with an elevated opinion of himself, spouted how he was going to show Jonah Lomu how a winger plays. My thought was Underwood was going to find that difficult when lying flat on the ground, watching Lomu run away from him. Which was exactly what happened... More than once...
Me and my best mate agreed (years of historic piss drinking academia...we hav'nt seen this since the day) that 'Hika The Hooker From Ngongataha's' try was best..Mark Ella was running us ragged that year..they were all over us..and about 10 minutes from the end from 100m out..its a shame they cut the footage short cause I remember a coupla kiwis wearing stubbies and towelling hats jumped the fence..hugged Hika and appeared to give him a swig from a XXXX can! The relief was palpable...
Man, I forgot how bloody good Christian Cullen was.
Hike Reid, 1980. Watch the great Bruce Robertson in action.

People forget just how good Bruce Robertson was.
Agreed. He scored only three Test tries, but a lot more were scored because of something that he did.
SuperEdge67 not me played against him, when he played for Ardmore
Bruce Robertson has to be the greatest All black center of all time
Hika Reid's try at 2:35 remains my all time favourite.
They are always there in support and that seems to have been the culture for decades.
Andrew McMurtrie poah
one of the best all blacks videos on youtube. thank you for a great upload
No other team in world rugby can match that a delight to watch.
Choice compilation bro. We watch today's ABs produce some bloody awesome tries but after watching this, boy its no wonder the All Blacks have always been the top dogs in union.
noticed the games before the 80s they didnt congratulate the try scorer or hugged, they just ran back to their halfway line lol
No one liked a show boater back then lol
Awesome added music......perfect with the commentary.
such a nostalgia trip! makes me homesick
My favourite?
Every one of them!
I swear there are better tries missing but great to see some I haven't seen before
Some epic team tries in this video. The passing and running skills over the years in the All Blacks hasn't changed at all. Good to see some older tries in there too awesome vid
best vid i have seen so far! great compilation!
Awesome thank Man, Smiled the whole way through that. Then Laughed out loud to Cullen vs Scotland and Lomu vs England
Brilliant compilation. Loads of great bits. Good soundtrack. I never new Mehrtens had a turn of gas, thought he could only kick...........
Awesome compilation; the Mourie try is my favourite by far.
Why can't they pass now like they did back then! great vid by the way
Thank you. Choice video.
Cullen is God.
Bloody great video
Some things you never get sick of.
The best one at about 1:45. Did anyone else notice a bunch of forward passes not called ?
Sam Burrows
Of course, its their speciality😂
Alfa&Omega 00000
No, just a lot of AB “tries”
Alfa&Omega 00000
Yeah like a third as often tho
yes indeed and Timu absolutly in touch. At 5.05 foward pass from Marshall to McCaw,the comintater even says "up it goes to McCaw. New zealand get away with murder thats what makes them look so good
Which one
Have a peep at 0:44, reckon the bloke waving the flag was closer to making the tackle than the Wallaby was....
Great stuff.
Considering the background to the test match with both Ridge and Gallagher going to Rugby League, Crowley's try was pretty special too.
Thanks
I remember that nutter on the field at Concord Oval, 1988 (Kirwan's try).
Ahhhh John Kirwin running through Italian team WC 86?
Cool vid!
No finer sight in RU than the All Blacks running for the try line !!
Bgm matches this video.
Hika Reid's one is the best. Total team try.
mean vid bro keep it up :)
GEAR!!!!!!!!
The last try was in 1977, not 1981.
Tana Umaga's pass @4:43, Legendary.......
Rokocoko looks yards slower than Stu Wilson, not something I would have thought likely back then.
Man, that John Gallagher try 1.09 was awesome. Was that Joe Stanley that passed the ball to Schuster?
Tell me Cullen wasn't the best 15 NZ ever produced? Its sad that his career was ended by that fuckwit Deans.
John Mitchell ended his international career, not Robbie Deans. I agree Cullen was the best fullback NZ has ever had.
1:37 the best
ifrr you want to run down cullen then you'd better learn on rabbits.
@tuatara163 I agree 100% that was magnificent and against a quality opposition too.
Bunces, which Walter Little started deep was a great one too.
Hell, Mehrtens was quick............
No Kirkpatrick against the Lions in '71, or Williams against SouthAfrica in '70. Damnnit.
LOMU!! UH!! UH!!
What ever happened to those days?
1:21 is the one where he walks over Mike Catt, and at 7:07 theres one where he goes through the french team
@tuatara163 I agree. I was at Ballymore that day. It really pissed me off!
1:22 For the week before this game, Tony Underwood, the England right wing, and a young man with an elevated opinion of himself, spouted how he was going to show Jonah Lomu how a winger plays.

More than once...
Great footage, but was the music necessary?
Me and my best mate agreed (years of historic piss drinking academia...we hav'nt seen this since the day) that 'Hika The Hooker From Ngongataha's' try was best..Mark Ella was running us ragged that year..they were all over us..and about 10 minutes from the end from 100m out..its a shame they cut the footage short cause I remember a coupla kiwis wearing stubbies and towelling hats jumped the fence..hugged Hika and appeared to give him a swig from a XXXX can! Got to be Cullen's against Scotland.
4:41tana umaga's pass to sivi classic....
I like watching JK run, But man some great tries in this compilation!
didnt know mehrtens got some wheels....
Isn't it nice to see international rugby played in daylight...
Bunce played both for Samoa and NZ? how come?
Why half of the tries in every video áre against Wales or Australia
NO its not. First song is by Doobie Brothers, called 'China Grove'.
Anyone got the soundtrack?
nehe milner skudder and cullen whos better?
1:32 Listen to the comentator come.
No Sturmfels tries?
5.46 Christian Cullen!!! Beats seven tacklers bitches!
Not a single one from Doug Howlett? Ummm
Not a single hater in the comments section got upload bro no one can this lol
The last test with Stu Wilson scoring was in 1977 - not 1981.
