2015 Mercedes GLA250 4Matic - Off Road And Track Review

- The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 4Matic. This is a premium CUV from Mercedes, featuring a 2.0L Turbo I4 producing 208 HP, which I’ll be comparing to the Buick Encore, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Lexus NX, and Volvo V60 Cross Country. Starting with the drawbacks, rear leg room is a bit limited, off-road handling was very stiff, and there were some quirks with the interior I wasn’t a fan of. That said, it was my personal favorite car of the group it competed in. It’s almost as light as the Buick Encore, creates peak torque at a staggeringly low 1250 RPM, and it has the best fuel economy of the group with 32 mpg highway. On top of this, it has 8 inches of ground clearance and it’s the only vehicle in the entire event with a dual clutch transmission. The handling was phenomenal in comparison to the others tested.
This vehicle was tested as part of the 2015 Northwest Automotive Press Association’s Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year competition. The vehicle category and competing vehicles are below:

Seeing one of these up close, you'd never guess that it has 8 inches of ground clearance; in fact it really looks much more like a big hatchback than a crossover/SUV. And that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I'm loving this thrashy 4-cylinder and the totally batshit AMG version of it too!
I have the B250 built on the same platform it's super high and shows it. Super ready for offroad 😄

Ruffino Morales Well, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that there are a lot of various safety systems incorporated within race cars which you won't have on the road. Examples: helmets, fire suits, roll cages, 5 point harness, etc.
Do you prefer this car over 2015 LR Discovery HSE or 2016 Audi Q3?

Give it good tires and it will be great!
How reliable is this car? In terms of upkeep and maintenance. My 2008 XC90 has been giving me endless trouble, and im really considering this car, but I don't want to get stuck with another garage queen.
this one will keep you trouble free for a long time, just keep the regular services, for engine and transmission.
Is transmission a problem with Mercedes?
not at all, they are very well built, but they do not like being neglected. I owe 3 old mercs, 1973 280, 1988 190E and 1999 C240, all of them with really high mileage, but all of them working like swiss clocks, just because I keep them with good oil and serviced at regular intervals. that applies for any car actually, but if you are going to be unlucky with a car, It can be any car too. even mercs.
My 2015 GLA 250 is trouble free after 3 1/2 year’s. Love it.
There's no separate button to open the glove box!!?

Engineering Explained The GLA250 has an optional Amg LINE Package that gives the car 15mm or 20mm lowered suspension... It's possible that that option is only available in Australia... If you get a chance to review one, that'd be awesome...

Why there is no 3 door version?? I hate this tinny doors in the front, that body needs 3 door version, and Clase A too.

Osnola that would look great, more manufacturers should make 3 door models. The only ones that come to mind are the Nissan Juke and the Land Rover Evoque
