Great video! Loved the spot. Got a new sub here from an aussie that now lives in Kansas USA.
Thanks for that mate!
Bloody appreciate it 👍🏽
Great video mate, just subscribed.
White pepper is the King of Pepper!
Thanks mate, I appreciate it!
As long as there's pepper on the steak, surely it can't be bad!
Great video, I am an old Riverina lad, spent my life growing up on the Murrumbidgee, love those foggy mornings. Great channel, can't fault your channel name! Funny too, VicOffraod sent me one of those swag to check out the other day. I have testing it all out over the last couple of weekends and am hoping to get the review video out towards the end of the week, I'll go and hunt down your video now and check out what you thought. By the way, can't have too much butter, subbed, keep up the great Aussie content ✌🏻
Thanks mate appreciate the comment. Solid channel name yourself haha!
It's been a pleasant surprise how the swag has performed.
I'd be keen to see your video and find out your thoughts also.
Just a tip...I have the same set up, quick float in the pan to butter the steaks then on the grill. Turn the steaks from a 7 to a 10.
Thanks mate, I'll be giving that a go for sure!
@@OutNAboutAustralia Nothing better than cooking for you friends and family. Simple things.
@shaneburns4349 spot on mate 👍🏽
Thanks for that. At least you can have one sleeping bage and it looks like you can leave your inflatable pillow in too.
No worries and yeah definitely mate, when it packs down that small it rolls up easy.
Nice, Pretty much the same as my camp set up. Get yourself a sea to summit down quilt and loft that over the top of your sleeping bag. For under the mattress I have a reflective mat I got from a Japanese style dollar store. Warm as toast!
I’ve been looking at those quilts. They look the goods!
I’m going to try a length of HD foam I’ve got under the mattress but if that doesn’t work I’ll have to check out some reflective matting. Thanks for the tip mate 👍🏽
@@OutNAboutAustralia Yep, It's the lofting part that is key. Because the quilt is much wider than the swag it bunches up and gives you something like 4 inches of further insulation for bugger all weight and size. You don't need to tie the straps like you would if sleeping in a hammock. Just throw it on top.
I was given a kings big daddy deluxe swag as a birthday day present. Mattress it came with was really only a topper so o purchased a 23zero replacement mattress, cut to size. Mattress all sorted, if not very large to roll up, but incredibly comfortable especially with a bad back and hips. Add Darche double sleeping bag, flannel lined.
Now with 2 trips and 6 nights sleeping, the setup is awesome, even in sub zero temps (1 to -3). Even for a small guy @ 70kg in a double sleeping bag, no blankets needed.
Mate purchase a quality sleeping bag. Have had the rap-around army style and still do have them. Would highly recommend a double flannel comfortable -5degree bag. Allows movement, warmth and general comfort. Spend the funds, you, will not regret it…!
Thanks for the suggestion mate, since this trip I've been looking into better sleeping bags non-stop.
I'm stuck between to Darche and the 23Zero at the moment but I reckon either one has to be an improvement over the current setup!
Great overnighter vid Luke. Chef Jean Pierre says breaking asparagus is a myth, he peels his. Copping a bit of flack for cooking your steak in a pan, but how can you keep basting the butter on if it is on the grill? Nothing wrong with the pan. Cook it the way you like it. Always remember butter makes everything better, so does beer and so does bacon lol 😂.
Thanks mate, I appreciate that!
It still tasted amazing, but I'm pretty keen to get that smokey flavour after seeing some comments haha!
Spot on though. Butter always makes it better!
Nice job mate. Living in the city this makes me miss this.
As a health freak, Table salt us really bad for you. If you can pick up Celtic Sea Salt it is the best for you. Has heaps of really good minerals including magnesium which is lacking in most of our foods these days 💪 🧂
Thanks for that mate, I'll have to go and grab myself some.
I did used to use Himalayan Pink Salt but always seem to run out.
Yep I was like you, paid about $250 for the same fire pit, does the job well but I have just purchased a different one, got a Oz Braai one like Harry from fire to fork and rate that high as well. Nothin beats a fire pit cook up. Cheers and beers.
Thanks mate, I have looked at the OzBraai unit. How do you go travelling with that one?
@@OutNAboutAustralia travel ok with it, i just chuck it in the dmax tub or in the caravan, as they both do basiclly the same job i do prefer the oz braai.
@beersintheshed. You may have just pushed me over the edge 😂
@@OutNAboutAustralia do it lol
Great video…you could’ve doubled the amount of mushies though!! 😳👍👍
I reckon I could've mate. They went down a bloody treat!
Two mushrooms or one 🤔 Two steaks… no comment 😂
Yeah didn't really think that one through haha
Unfortunately you are always going to freeze in cold weather on top of the air mattress. I learnt the hard way. Normal swag with 70mm foam, decent bag and toasty all night in zero temps.
Next time lose the skillet and cook your steaks on the grill over the coals for next level flavour
100% will be doing that!
Just didn’t want to lose all my butter 😂
Asparagus in peppercorn sauce mate get on it
Luke, I’m not to worried about the white pepper, more that you have a jar of Vaseline with you at camp. 🤷🏼🤣
No diesel heater?
I’ve reinvented the pack down content, it’s in my next episode. Thought I’d cop a copyright strike, but got away with it.
I thought it was cool 🤦🏽
I actually got the idea from Paul from Camping Downunder 😂. Best DIY firefighter I’ve used in a while….never mind the other uses 😂😂
This was the first pack down I’ve tried to film, slows down the pack up process a bit😂
Can’t wait to see your next one 🤙🏽
also get yourself the kings good sleeping bag , it's actualy 2 bags in one , but the bag it comes in is a joke , for being too small ,🙂 so get a biger bag for it
I’m definitely looking at those bags as an option. They sound pretty good. From what I hear they’re as warm as some of the big brands 👍🏽
looks like your using an air mattress ? , they are to cold for winter camping , get a self inflating foam one ,as they will stop the cold from underneath
100% mate. The warmth just gets sucked straight out of it.
I’ve lined the underside with HD foam so hopefully that’ll hold a little more in.
If that doesn’t work I’ll be going the high R value self inflating setup 🤙🏽
Do you mind me asking where about on the Lachlan you are? Also, l do a bit of cold weather camping and have found ditching the stretcher and sleeping on the ground to be warmer.
Thanks for the tip mate, I'll have to give it a go.
This was a reserve just called Lachlan River Reserve. I would guess about 10-15km outside of Forbes.
do you still have and use the darche swag? I love mine but fuck me its huge when its packed down.
Thanks for the comment mate.
Yeah I've still got the Darche swag, actually taking it out on the next trip I go on.
I only really use it when me and the misso go together. Easier to take a single swag on the solo trips.
cooking steaks in the pan. not on the grill. who hurt you
😂😂 must be something wrong with me!
200 bux portable diesel heater, piped into your swag.. if you love your zero degree camps, youd probs use one of these.
Funnily enough I actually got one the next day to test out haha!
@@OutNAboutAustralia i love mine. doesnt blow out like a gas radiant heater, i can pop it on my vans table and run the pipes inside to heat the van, if its raining can hide under my awning and keep my legs warm, and uses bugger all fuel.
@glenod that’s it. They’re insanely efficient.
They’ve got their own downsides but all in all a great option.
That beer looks nothin like VB...
Too bloody expensive at the moment!
@@OutNAboutAustralia Whats a case cost in Westy at the moment
