The first GTI did 182 kph. The current one is almost twice the weight, more than 2 times the horsepower and goes 3 sec quicker to 100 and is 75 kph faster. Still the first one is iconic which the last one never will be. I like the new one too though.
One of the last petrol powered fwd hot hatches. Focus st, i30n, megane rs...all dead. All there is left is this (cupra doesn't count because it's the same car) and type r.
12.75s 100-200, that is pretty fast for a 265bhp normal sized hatchback, this is a massive improvement from previous gens, not that they were crap by any means, but this is a whole new level of fast in terms of regular golf gti, the mk6 gti were around 17/18s stock, the mk7.5 gti performance was around 15/16s, but this has similar pace to F30 340i/8V S3 etc

@@JehovahSharmathe problem is that the user interface on the 8 & 8.5 is so much worse yes more features but harder to use, frustrating to use, beeps and bongs everywhere you look because of the annoying asssitance tech that has to be turned off everytime you restart the vehicle, the screen freezes sometimes or it tells you you need to focus on the road the screen is temporarly deactivated and overall just lots of annoyances & technology that could break... i would personally stick with the 7.5 and maybe do some mods rather than getting the 8 or 8.5 This was a fun car for a slightly sporty daily but if i had a 7.5 already i would stick with it.
@@Catchingcars I have heard about the software glitches on the 8. That would suck in the long run. Howz the interior quality on the 8 compared to the 7.5? Am sure fixing that large screen would suck as well
You don´t want to trade in the good 7.5 one against the most shittiest Golf ever produced. I have had all Golf generations - the 8th never made it to me. Crap!
It is , I drove 2 of them here in Uk and , the interior plastics are so hard and feels so cheap , like in a Dacia Sandero, but at least that one is cheap, the Golf is very expensive and interior materials are very cheap. Yes , it drives well but for that price tag , I wouldn’t pay so much with those interior materials, you can buy any other car for that price tag
It could do without that giant touch screen, nothing turns me off of newer vehicles quicker than a giant i pad staring back at me. Also no clutch 🤯? The E break switch is truely heinous.... What the hell is going on here😭? I miss my vr6 😂
@@mar7739 i don't doubt it, new vw are great 2021 standard jetta is awesome but the thrill of driving the newer vehicles is unmatched compared to the late 90s and early 2k golf and jettas, just my opinion. Happy new years all !

how's about your consumption with the fuel ?
@@PaulPentz
Now in wintertime 8,5 liter/100 km, in the Sommer 7,5. Obviously, when driven harder some more.

I think these are not GPS times. AutoTopNL did times around 14-15 seconds GPS
Impressive consumption for a hot hatch not gonna lie!

Mazda 3 please. :D

I wonder if it's coming to South Africa, I would happily trade in my golf 7.5 for this . ❤
7.5 is better

I plan to buy this model someday :) If I don't make it either 6 or 7.. do you recommend?
7.5 is the best of the modern GTI's
stay away from 6.. i had it, only problems. 7.5 is a good choice.

@vestik6656 I drove a friend's 2010 model. All I realized is that the engine was poorly engineered. And always broke down for the stupidest reasons.
