These songs will sound much heavier in a live setting. Keyboard band always come off lighter on recording due to the nature of keyboard textures and frequencies. I really like this one "Beautiful tragedy - wonderful fantasy". Such a cool and catchy phrasing. Great job again Mel. Love your deep understanding of the emotional content in the music. With the drums, up until last album Endless Forms, Jukka had input on the drumming and he didn't step away until the recording time. So Kai didn't have much say then, as of this album, Tuomas gave Kai a lot of control over the drumming and it definitely shows.

Good reaction and well spoken - everything what you mentioned! This album, they really didn´t choose easy way to do things, but more difficult. Someone comment somewhere, that those people who do vocal covers here in UA-cam, this album makes those difficult to do. If even Floor had problems to find correct way, what then other people? Nightwish drums has been always one of favorite thing, specially how Jukka did. Now in this album "Tuomas unleashed Kai". So, we hear some changes in drumming. But Kai is master, - just think when you reach song "Tribal", he bought 5 new drums, just to be able play that song how Tuomas want it !!!

You are so right! Down runs are much harder than up runs. But even so I think that this track is primarily Emppu show. Very energetic and intensive piece and certainly not pop rock. And what's the wrong about pop rock if it's good. Hey come on people (not you of course) There are good music everywhere (and some bad too). Great reaction!
I consider the band's best album. This is the band's heaviest album. Bass and drums should follow that style for the next album. Floor with these different vocals combined with the old styles. And I felt a different chorus (just a feeling). Vocal harmonies are also better.
Great bands generally get better and more technical as time passes. Rush, Pink Floyd, The Beatles...all progressed to much more technical compositions in their later albums. I think it is so exciting to see.
