Check out all the highlights from last night as Forge FC beat Cavalry FC to win the 2023 North Star Cup! Highlights from OneSoccer, the home of all CPL matches live 📺
Forge should change it's name to FOURge. It has a nice ring to it. Context for those unfamiliar with the CPL. Hamilton Forge has been to all five finals since the league's inception in 2019 and won four of those championships. Love 'em of hate 'em, Forge gets it done when it matters. As Al Davis and the Raiders use to say "Just win baby!"
Good for them but this is a problem for Canadian football. How is the CPL going to grow if one team had won it 4 times out of its 5 years in the league’s existence? And that one time that they didn’t win, they lost in the finals. There needs to be a lot more competition or else no one will watch.
Except Canadian Football tends to be highly cyclical. Teams become contenders for a nearly a decade and often collapse. In terms of CanPL competition, I'm not sure how much of the regular season you paid attention to, but this year the table was incredibly close. 6 points separated 2nd from 4th and 2nd place (Forge) went literally to the 3rd tie break. Say nothing that there's no question that Cavalry made this game competitive and could have won this one.
@@markgresch9944 yeah that’s true, I didn’t pay much attention to the regular season. Most people that aren’t Canadian will probably only watch the final. If they see that the same team wins every time, then just like myself, they’re not gonna bother to check what happened in the regular season or how close everything else was.
Well, look at the Yankees in MLB, Detroit and Montreal and Edmonton in the NHL, Chicago in NBA, Manchester United in European football.......a lot of teams go through strings of dominance and those leagues do just fine. This year the league was extremely competitive and far from Forge's best year. They just have a knack for stepping up in big games right now.
@@erins9271 that’s right but those leagues aren’t new. Even though Man utd was dominant in the prem, people didn’t stop watching it. And Baseball is a pastime in the US. I think one of the reasons why the MLS struggled to grow is because DC United won 3 out of the first 4. So I hope this can change but if Forge wins again, I doubt anyone will ever Pat attention to the CPL
Diego: They have taken their games off the national broadcaster and put them on a streaming service almost no-one wants. Not having people watch seems to be a core want for this league.
No way he scored from the corner 😮
only in the canadian premier league 💀
To score from the corner like that in a championship game😮😂 what a memory that will be
Partidazo!! 😄😄 tiempo extra, gol olímpico, increíble, 😄😀👍🏻👍🏻 felicidades al Forge, felicidades Hamilton

El olímpico fué un golazo 🔥
Wow what a game!!
Sooo cool
What a great game
Why was the first goal from Forge cancel ❓
Congratulations Hamilton 👍
It was cancelled because the forge striker fouled a cavalry defender before scoring the goal.
@sohigamer141 debatable foul I would say.
@@sohigamer141That call was softer than Cavalry come play-off time. 😅
5,000 views in 2 months. Wow, CPL, good job taking your product off the national broadcaster and putting it on a streaming service.
