I missed this video last week! Sorry Miki Senseï!!
The video was awesome! I learnt a lot of things. I did not know Koten shinobue.
And it was great to listen your explanations on the shinobue types differences.
    Really great video as always.
    Thank you Miki Senseï!!

Hi Miki! Thank you for all the informative videos! I was wondering if you would know if Marumiya (Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten’s Brand) is Doremi Cho? I recall buying the Marumiya in Asakusa where I tried different flutes out. They seem to adhere pretty well to the western scale when I use a tuner, but have to do slight variations in the placement of the utakuchi. Thanks!

Hello! It looks like Marumiya brand is a doremi style, according to this page. www.miyamoto-unosuke.co.jp/special/shinobue/ If yours looks like the one on the right, yours should be doremi style. It's normal to have to do slight variations even with a doremi style shinobue. 😃

I play Utamono. I find it perfectly fine to play Utamono with piano and karaoke. (You say "slightly off", but aren't we supposed to adjust pitch, even when we play western wind instruments? ) I don't like playing Doremi-cho because of the uneven spaces between holes. It is a lot easier to play Utamono! I don't know why everyone recommends Doremi to play western music! I also would like to point out that it is not true that it takes more effort to make Doremicho than Utamono. Utamono has even spaced holes on the outside, but it was carved in precise angle to make the location of the third hole inside of the tube towards left to adjust the pitch. I think it takes more training to make Utamono....

Thank you very much for your input!! I'm sorry I just assumed that Do re mi cho is harder to create, but I am sure Uta style is very hard to create as well! I'm glad you like your uta style! You sure play beautifully on the pitch! I have an uta style shinobue which is slightly off when I try to play with karaoke, but I'm sure it depends on the brand.

Hello, you can purchase quality shinobues on my website, saitomusic.com. But quality shinobues are hard to come by, even in Japan, so you would have to get on the Shoji shinobue notification list. I will be offering Wako shinobues soon, too! You can also try places like Taiko Center or Mejiro. They sell shinobues online.

What's the average prices for each of the shinobue?
    I like 3 and 4

    • @MikiShinobue
      @MikiShinobue  3 місяці тому

The price of the shinobue varies widely. You can check taiko-shop.com/ 6 and 8 hon choshis are common. You could find 3, but 4 might be hard to find. Usually, the smaller the number, the more expensive they are. If you are a beginner, 6 and 8 are easier to play than 3 or 4. Good luck with your search!!
