FYI... Klein makes replacement shanks you can get... a set of 4 of differing lengths, for ~$20. I keep a set in my bag, just in case and as spares. Part number 32944 if I remember.
I have both. They are both well-made and it’s hard to pick one over the other, but I did go with the Klein because it can hold a driver bit and the Milwaukee can’t. (Technically it can, but not very firmly and you will definitely lose the bit if you’re not careful.) If holding a driver bit is not important to you then I would go with the Milwaukee.
Try a modern oil and lanolin rust spray like Fluid Film, Surface Shield, etc. When the solvent evaporates, they will be a little stickier and persist better than plain oil. Wipe excess away with paper towel. Avoid WD40 because it gets REALLY sticky and gummy and makes stuff jam up. The ball bearing and spring mechanism is visible from the outside of the socket, so you can also clean and lubricate that.
It’s interesting. The sockets on the top of the Milwaukee shank don’t need to be on there as tight as they do on the Klein because of the shoulder. While you have to pull the shank off the tool to change the Milwaukee, it’s a better design to me. I have the Klein and I am ready to buy the Milwaukee after watching this video.
My Klein is permanently locked. Had some metal filings get attracted to the magnet and licked up the top socket. Don’t have a vice to hold stem. Any ideas on releasing the socket?
Your shank is rusting because you need a protectant on it, not just a solvent/water-displacer like WD-40. Use a CLP-like product for firearms or hit it with some lube designed to form a film and stay put. Also, the camera stabilization used on this video to lock onto the movement of the head is awful and dizzying. Avoid in the future-- thanks.
Yea idk about putting Hoppe's on tools lol. Seems like a lot of work. I tried doing something different and making the into more engaging visually. A steady tripod shot is pretty boring. Apparently I failed lol. Thanks for the feedback
Well if the chinese company makes it better... I also only bought Bosch power tools, but for 12V I went with Milwaukee, simply because they offer a way better range of tools and they are more powerful.

If I need a bit then it's a phillips and I carry a 4" milwaukee for that. If I need it to reach something I just stick it in an extender.

11/32 are for the nuts on smaller tonnage condenser fan motors.
Yup. Not a fan of losing it
Love my Milwaukee power tools. Love my Milwaukee strippers & pliers.
Sticking with Klein for these sockets.

Thanks 🙏🏽 awesome video
Im an electrician, and i constantly have to use wd40 on my klein flip sockets. You're right it rusts so fast
I like the new malco one.
My Klein has never operated smoothly, takes more force than it should
Got the Milwaukee to try out, it dropped the socket off almost immediately. Their detent is not strong enough.
Well that sucks

Hammer!
Bring to home depot and ask for a swap out
@@WorldofHVAC in Australia, no Home Depot. Tried the hammer first, no joy.
@davefrancis4529 maybe bring it to total tools?
Penetrating lubricant, or acetone+oil if you don't have any. And examine the spring wrapped around the socket which holds the ball bearing in
I would like Milwaukee to make stainless steel tools.
I have been through 3 of the klein each on lasted me a week the milwaukee has lasted me long haven't broken yet
Milwaukee didn't design theirs. Malco made theirs for them. Vaco makes Klein's. You can buy Malco ones at Home Depot with shorter adapters.
Malco made milwaukees? Jeezum
@@WorldofHVAC From what I understand.
throw away WD-40, get yourself some ballistol.
I like aerokroil. Just didn't have any handy
I'm still using WD-40, got no balls at all.

Don't bother with Milwaukee ratchets. They jam up easily and the pawl shears teeth off of the drive gear.
I like the packout case but I can't justify replacing my craftsman set. It's just too damn good
So an American company makes something while a Chinese company copies it should be the title of the video.
Pretty sure both of those flip socket sets are made in Taiwan
@@Eetsohaad Nope Klein Tools is made in USA.
@@Eetsohaad but if that was true then he couldn't justify his hate boner for China 😢
Well if the chinese company makes it better...

Klein has domestic and international construction. They have not been all American for a number of years for better or for worse.
