Wonderful walk through, no issues with replacing the pulley and wheels. I got the kit off amazon for 34 dollars that included the wheels, spring, pulley arm. Running like champ. My issue was a stuck wheel causing the noise.
I know this is 6 years old. But thank you for making this. My dryer was literally screaming anytime it was in use. $25 for the parts delivered next day on Amazon. Dryer works just as it should now. Thank you for the wall through!
So I watched several videos about how to replace the idler arm pulley (Sounds like Samsung skimped when making this idler arm pulley) and most showed going through the back of the dryer to access the pulley. However, my model DV45K7600EW/A3 doesn't have an access door on the back like some other models, just the vent tube which my hands are too big to fit through that tube. So I bought the part and took the dryer apart using the step by step instructions on this video and it worked perfectly! Thank you for taking the time to publish this video and the detail you put in to fixing this. I really do appreciate it!!
I know, isn't it completely ridculous that they don't have a back access panels on dryers? This would make it so much easier. I found a video where the guy simply cut his own hole through the back panel and put tape around the edges while replacing the pulley. It is possible to do just using the dryer vent hose opening but yu need to be strong using one arm to get the belt back on. It was much easier using one arm in each hole to do that job.
Mick, this was an awesome video to show step by step how to replace the idler arm & belt. I can't believe how loud the screech was and how it progressively got worse over time on this 4 yr old Samsung dryer. My wife was going crazy, because even with the door closed to the laundry room, the screech was still painful and loud. Since I bought a complete kit, from Amazon that also had the (4) drum rollers, I replaced them too, since I had access to them after taking the parts off for doing the idler arm. I couldn't believe, that just like the idler arm, the drum rollers were also of the same design as the idler arm with just a bushing bearing used for spinning around. They did not spin very well by touch and had all sorts of gunk inside them inhibiting their spinning, just like the idler arm. All parts now have nice spinning roller ball bearings and the dryer has never sounded so quiet. It's like Samsung built these dryer parts with planned obsolescence. Thank you Thank you again for walking me through the install with your UA-cam video!!! It saved my mucho bucks!!!!
Thanks a lot. Watched the video last week after technician asked me to replace control board or buy a new machine. My machine was 2 years old with same exact problem in this video. Ordered pulley and belt for $19 and got parts today. Just now done replacing and machine is working like brand new.👏
Thanks for the video, I was worried it'd be a pain trying to figure out what was wrong with my dryer but this hit the nail on the head. For anyone else watching, amazon sells the replacement (with the new and improved bearing) as a bundle with a replacement belt for $16.
Excellent job documenting all the steps and explaining what needed to be done. I changed the pulley on my Samsung dryer tonight, thanks to your video!!!
Hello @Mick Alfonso. I had a dryer with a bad belt . Got the drum out, and the pully wheel was over a foot away from the arm a d the spring was off. Your video made my entire repair a piece of cake. Thank you.
Thank you. I have the same dryer and it has become progressively noisy lately to the point I am afraid to use it. I used your video to disassembly my dryer and replace a bad roller, idler arm pulley and belt. There were lots of shaving from the belt and it looked ready to breaking. The hardest part was threading the belt around the pulley and dryer drum. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! I just replaced my idler pulley, belt, and two of the four wheels. The back two required me to remove the back panel to access them. I worked on the Dryer with the video on pause until I completed that section. Thanks again for saving me a lot of money!
Thanks! This video saved me $170!!! Thats how much an appliance technician told me it was going to cost me over the phone. I saw your video, bought the part for $10 on Amazon and the belt for $6 and did it myself. You rock!
Another VERY HAPPY viewer here! Thank you very much for this. Our dryer started making a horrendous noise, I immediately looked up this video, ordered the part, replaced it, and it's good as new again. Could not have done it without you. Great job!
Hey man... great video thank you! In my mind I pictured the dryer sitting in the middle of the hallway in pieces for a week so that's why it has sounded like an airplane taking off for the last year 🤦♂️. 2 hours later including eating lunch while working, vacuuming out the entire inside, changed out all 4 caster bolts (those back 2 are a little challenging), tensioner pulley and belt... thing purrs like a kitten again.
Thanks for that. It was a HUGE pain trying to get the new belt on for sure. Our pully totally broke off when it stopped working. Thanks for posting this walk through.
Very grateful that you took the time to share your knowledge! My dryer started squealing a few nights ago. After a bit of sleuthing, I found your video. I've just replaced the tension pulley (bracket idler pulley, part #DC93-00634A, from Amazon LFORBB L-111 L-111 DC93-00634A Idler 6602-001655 Belt Kit), accessing the part via the exhaust plate, and it seems to have fixed it. It saved me a ton of time in dissembling the entire machine and money in trying out difference fixes.
thank you my dude, just one thing. You dont need to remove the 2 screws at the back to remove the top cover. Those screws are actually screws for the hinge of the top cover. You just need a flat screw driver or a prying tool and gently pry the top cover from the front to lift up the top cover. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for this video! Mine started squealing a few days ago. Got the tension pulley and your video was definitely on point. Was done in about an hour. Made sure I cleaned all the lint out real good. Awesome video. Great job without an assistant camera person.
Thanks for the video. I have the exact same dryer with the exact same issue, but my belt broke as well. I was able to easily take the machine apart, (thanks to your video), replace the idler arm assembly, belt and put back together. It was a challenge to get the belt in place and aligned, but once done, my machine works again, and I'm ecstatic because I saved $300.
Hey Mick, Great video! I did have quite a bit of trouble mounting the belt UNTIL!!! I noticed that the replacement belt I ordered was thicker than the undamaged original. Before I noticed that, I had repeated failures to mount and install the drum. I think that the thicker belt decreased the working length enough to cause the pulley spring to pop off repeatedly. 1st attempt with old belt was successful. Thanks again.
Had the high pitch squeal in my dryer, exact same model, watched this video step by step and was able to replace the part and it’s good as new. Awesome man, thanks!
Thanks so much!! found this video and mine was the exact model- took it apart and my pully was melted off the bearing- got a new one for 20 bucks and we are back in business...Thanks man for the walk through
Exact same problem on the exact same model. Thanks for the part numbers. I have replaced these on many dryers over the years. Simple job. Belt and pulley delivered by Amazon for $18.99.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so grateful for you taking the time to produce this video. It was just what I needed. I was able considering a brand new purchase and my friend said let's see if there's a video on how to fix the dryer and there you were!!! Praying blessings for you and your family for you being a blessing to me and mine...
Very nice ..... I had the same problem and the only thing I did different was I never took out the screws in the back Just pry up in the front with a screw flat screw driver.... it opens easy and you can see the belt is loose Also .... for troubleshooting.. on the right side bottom there is a punch out that with a hammer can be removed and look inside to see if the idle pulley is broken and if your good with one hand can do the job from that point
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO! I have same dryer and our service appt was missed today and I said screw it and called sears to make an appt. Then a friend talked me into looking at youtube and I found your vid! I can do this... I put a supercharger on my Camaro I can do this! Called Sears to cancel... "sir there is no appointment in the system!" so they also would have screwed us over a day staying home from work!!! Anyhow decided to order the rollers/tensioner/and belt for far less than just the visit to look at our dryer. Thx again for taking the time to make this vid.
This video was a Godsend! Thank you!!! Hardest part for me was getting the belt back on. What a pain in my ass for real!!!!! But ty ty so much. You just made me have some girl power this day! Lol ...You've saved a lot of people a lot of money too! My "arm" had fallen off even and the metal was melted on the inside of that lil roller. All the way melted!!!! And the belt was fried. Ty for the part numbers being posted as well. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!
Thanks for the great one handed video lol. Second time I've had to pull it apart once for the pulley and again for the roller in the back. Always use this video. Thank you sir.
Thanks much for taking the time to post this! I'm sure it would have been easier with a helper, but really appreciate that you took the time to record and share it.
Thanks for the video man, saved me an expensive tech call. Dryers are surprisingly low tech I learned! Mine was making the same noise and the pulley had melted plastic around the bearing. I replaced my rollers also since I had it opened up anyway, but the original belt was perfectly fine.
This video rocked. After attempting it myself I finally searched for a video and found this one. This is the exact dryer I have and it looks like the same part failed on me, looks as if it burned up so it doesn’t really spin. Thank you so much for making this awesome video!
Thank you so much for the video. Just had the same exact issue and thanks to your video, I was able to take it apart and repair it quite easily. You da man.
Thank you for this video. Exact same issue with our dryer.. We have the same on but in white. Only difference was our idler locked up and the belt melted through it. Looking to order the parts now.
This video removes the drum like you need to do to put the belt in. Just replace the belt on the drum before putting it back in. Be sure to watch the entire video before starting just so you have a heads up
Mick - you made the ubiquitous tensioner pulley replacement on this model a breeze. I have this same model in gas and this worked great!. Four sets of bolts and three harnesses to disconnect. Thanks for posting, and let me know where I can send you a bomber as a thanks for your posting!
Sean B upgrade the belt tensioner to the ball bearing type also replace the tumbler wheels along with belt that way you should not have to pull it apart again
The idler arm and pully can be replaced without disassembling the entire dryer. There is an oval shaped access cover around the exhaust tube. You can remove that cover and the exhaust tube and the arm and pully can be removed and replaced through the hole. The only time you need to disassemble the dryer is to replace the belt.
Hey guys , it’s hard but this video is helpful. Take pictures and separate screws and make with sticky dots label each screw so they go back where they came from....and remember to put the drum back the same way .... mark front of drum back .... not the same size
I have the same dryer. Samsung estimates a $485 cost to repair this. Mine won't start, but if I open the door, and rotate the drum it will start. But now it seems as if it's getting worse, and doesn't always start. Could my dryer have the same issue? Possibly the pully?
So prior to the dryer going Dead in the Water, what kind of noises was it making? An uneven squeaky sound that is there sometimes and other times not? I just want to make sure this is the part I need. I guess I could open up the dryer and see what shape mine is in before ordering.
Mioquacoonacaw well pully bearing burns out so should squeak but I guess might not. Tumbler wheels use same bearing so those could make noise too. If your machine won’t start like in video it is likely either this pulley is broken or your belt snapped. You will need to open it up and look inside to know for sure. If yours is squeaking now, I’d replace all four tumbler wheels, upgrade the belt tensioner and replace the belt all while in there to prevent having to take it apart again. Good luck
@@mickalfonso Thanks, my dryer has been doing this off and on for close to a year. I already bought the wheels and belt, but now just need to buy the idler arm and get to replacing all 3.
Dude, you were so right. The Dryer quit yesterday and when I took it apart the pulley wheel on the Idler Arm was melt so much it flew off the idler arm. Thanks again for posting this video.
Currently going through this with my model. I called the home warranty repair dude and of course paid $75 only to have the problem happened again, this time he's telling me that it's the idle pulley. The home warranty company wants to pay me $330 because they're saying if it breaks again, they won't cover it moving forward. So I that I said all of that to ask if anyone has had a failure after replacing the part, or is it upgraded/inproved from the original equipment?
Any idea where to get the balancing sticky pads that are stuck to the outside of the drum? One of mine gunked up the roller and belt. Wondering if after I clean it, if it needs to be replaced and where to find it.
unit not vented to code and Samsung specs - which was the reason why it failed - only semi rigid or rigid is allowed - heat backed up into unit by using wrong venting material
I saw them selling these dryers on ebay new for $339. Could it be they are so unreliable why they are selling so cheap. I need a new dryer but I'm getting good reviews on them.
C Jahmal dryer has been fine since I replaced this belt tensioner to the upgraded bearing version about a year ago. Such an easy fix I’m not worried about it.
I was watching your awesome youtube tutorial and wanted to see if you thought it would be a good idea to link the pulley from JACS on amazon in your video to help people out. I sell this part on amazon and thought i could offer your viewers a 5% discount just for being one of your subscribers. Thoughts? Ben
Rob Kenyon the pulley replacement with bearing came with a new screw that’s different then the old one. This is due to the Pully and arm being improved and redesigned.
I did everything I should’ve. Now that dryer is back running it won’t spin with a full load of wet clothes 🤦🏽♀️. It works with half load. I don’t want to buy a new dryer mine is new. Smh
Candise Bivens I have no idea without seeing your washer of what is wrong with it but first thing I would check is proper belt alignment, tension, and orientation. The belt has a flat side and a rubber grooved side, the rubber grooved side goes down against the drum for grip, and the grooves correspond to the rips on the motors pulls. That would be my first guess. If that’s correct Second would be the belts not routed correctly around the belt tensioner. Next I would make sure wheels drum sit on spin freely and that none of them has a bad bearing. Then make sure drum is aligned correctly. Good luck and hope you find your problem.
Matt Gomez it comes of by hand. Definitely don’t use pliers. All those little plastic clips have tabs on them to keep them together. You either push or pull the tab depending on type. If you ever break a tab either zip tie it together or tape it together to keep it from coming loose under use.
Poor design they should have put a real bearing in instead of a cheap bushing Just like their heating elements always go made cheaply but that's how they soak you for the money. Most people would just replace it if it were a few years old thinking it's not worth it lol
It is infuriating that they're even permitted to sell dryers with these garbage plastic pulleys. Mine literally melted from the friction of the belt. FREAKING MELTED... Why can't these a*holes just put like an extra $5-10 into a part that won't melt in these bitches! It should be illegal for appliances manufacturers to make everything so cheap. I'm tired of having to tear them all apart. Anyway, sorry... I had to get that out. Thanks for the video, Duder. I wasn't sure if I had the spring in right or not
Hi Mick, Thank you for your sharing! Your videos are very helpful to those of us who are new to DIY repairs. Are you interesting in using and testing our Samsung dryer belt and pulley kit? I am employed by Amazon part supplier, I want to offer you new product for free. Would you mind letting me know your email? I could provide more detailed product information for selection and send our products to you.
I used this video along with ua-cam.com/video/g-YZ-LMWJvk/v-deo.html to figure out how to completely disassemble the rear bulkhead and replace rollers that had gone bad. Here's to another few good years with my trusty Samsung dryer.

Mine is running and spinning but real bad belt sound I’m gonna go ahead and replace pilot belt and rollers thank you for video
Sean B upgrade the belt tensioner to the ball bearing type also replace the tumbler wheels along with belt that way you should not have to pull it apart again
Thank you so much for the video.exact same problem with my drier and same model.good job man.

Great video. Exact same problem. dryer back in action!! :) This part was purchased on Amazon LFORBB' store.
jane jessi Glad the video helped!!
Thank you for this video! This helped out a lot

What’s the part numbers for the pulley and belt? Belt is fine but figured I’d replace it all
Had the same problem. Thanks for the video, BIG help fixing it.
Bryan Schiller Glad the video helped!!
Hey guys , it’s hard but this video is helpful. Take pictures and separate screws and make with sticky dots label each screw so they go back where they came from....and remember to put the drum back the same way .... mark front of drum back .... not the same size

This video helped so much, thanks!

Hi. You said the old screw will not work on new pulley so did a new screw come with the new one?
Yes with mine it did. Can’t remember exactly why but it was different so be on the look out.
@@mickalfonso thank you!! These videos are so helpful for people 😀
I have the same dryer. Samsung estimates a $485 cost to repair this. Mine won't start, but if I open the door, and rotate the drum it will start. But now it seems as if it's getting worse, and doesn't always start. Could my dryer have the same issue? Possibly the pully?
FrankG could be. It might definitely be worth it to open her up and take a look.
Thanks for the video, very good explanation, cheers mate!

Thanks for the video, exactly what happened to mine.

My pulley had an upgraded bearing in it. Went from friction bearing to roller bearing in the tension arm
This has helped me so much thanks for a great video

Thank you! My dryer is fix .
4010djs Ft Worth and Dallas and Dj And Photo Booth sweet!!!
Very helpful video by any chance do you remember where you got the new band mine snapped
Jesus Trevino I believe amazon but maybe eBay.
Any idea where to get the balancing sticky pads that are stuck to the outside of the drum? One of mine gunked up the roller and belt. Wondering if after I clean it, if it needs to be replaced and where to find it.
Great video. Very informative.
You did this the hard way!
Hello Fresh maybe but I feel it’s easier this way plus can inspect the belt or replace it if needed
Thank you!! explained so well
Glad the video helped!!
Great video thanks

could the pully be the reason why my Samsung dryer squeaks so loud?
unit not vented to code and Samsung specs - which was the reason why it failed - only semi rigid or rigid is allowed - heat backed up into unit by using wrong venting material
Maybe but never an issue still to this day with the roller bearing tensioner. The oem bearing is just garage regardless
Get a Whirpool! I know I shoulda smh
I was watching your awesome youtube tutorial and wanted to see if you thought it would be a good idea to link the pulley from JACS on amazon in your video to help people out. I sell this part on amazon and thought i could offer your viewers a 5% discount just for being one of your subscribers. Thoughts?
Ben
Ben DeWitt sure sounds great send me the link I’ll post it.
@@mickalfonso what is your email?
Thank you
Thanks
God bless you bro
What screw do you use if not the old one?
My drum touch the motor that spin
@3:11 HELP ME!! That connector won't pull out!! What's the secret?
Matt Gomez which connector?
@@mickalfonso the white one behind the door at 3:11. I finally used some pliers and it gave way. I thought I was gonna break it.
Matt Gomez it comes of by hand. Definitely don’t use pliers. All those little plastic clips have tabs on them to keep them together. You either push or pull the tab depending on type. If you ever break a tab either zip tie it together or tape it together to keep it from coming loose under use.
Poor design they should have put a real bearing in instead of a cheap bushing
Just like their heating elements always go made cheaply but that's how they soak you for the money.

I used this video along with ua-cam.com/video/g-YZ-LMWJvk/v-deo.html to figure out how to completely disassemble the rear bulkhead and replace rollers that had gone bad. Here's to another few good years with my trusty Samsung dryer.
