Thanks! This trail is one of my favorites. Did it twice so far. It is in the Loyalsock State Forest which is where the Loyalsock Trail (60 miles) is located. They are very similar except in distance and both very beautiful.
Great video. I just found your channel. I did the OLP this past April. I got lucky and got to stay in both shelters which were both empty and no mice. Great trail. Loving your hammock vids. Next time I want to explore the gorge area more thoroughly.
Thanks! I love the old loggers path. I think it may be a yearly trip for me. I did notice that there wasn’t much room for tents but the shelters were awesome. The Loyalsock Trail is near there and I think you will like that one as well.
I hate to be that guy... BUT, the first part where you mention it's obviously an old logger's path, it is raised and flat and railroad gage. That part of the trail is the old rail bed of the Eagles Mere railroad. The sharp turn left leaves the bed which continues without being part of the trail. There was a bridge that crossed Hog House Run, just before the big camp spot with the fire pit. Great trail. Great video.
I did that trail last November and about froze my butt at night with lows in the teens. I want to go back and hike clockwise. I think I've mentioned to you before about the Standing Stone Trail here in central PA--it's a must do!
Jared Kauffman Hiw did you make out crossing that big creek. That had to been cold. Standing stone is still on my list. I was just thinking about it again recently. I will be doing it this year for sure.
@@backpackingadventures4813 I just posted a pic of my "bridge" across Pleasant Stream to your Facebook post. The first thing I did when I got home from the OLP was buy a new down sleeping bag!
Awesome video and great looking trail. I probably would’ve put on Microspikes with those trail conditions plus that amount of mileage cause I can’t stand slippin and slidin everywhere. But awesome challenge, I wanna try that with the Manistee River Trail and doin the whole thing in a day
+The Mustached Adventurer Thanks! The mud wasn’t too bad. It was only in certain spots but in large it was dry. Good luck with the Manistee. You’ll kill it!
+Steps by Kaatje Thanks! I just got back from another trip today(Tuesday) and on my trip I passed 8 separate groups (2-3) of hikers. The. Today I passed two more camp sites. Lots of people out backpacking!
Way ambitious! Congrats on the mileage. I couldn't do that around here. Too steep and rocky. Sorry you missed the best viewpoint of the trail but what you did see looked great. Weird about the spot device. I have not had any problems with the inreach as of yet if you are looking. Thanks for sharing your trip. Take care.
@@backpackingadventures4813 Don't get me wrong, your hike was way impressive! I hear about those 28+ mile days for some hikers especially for the through hikers. My best day around here is like 18-20 and that is pushing it for me. The trails around here that I hike are mostly above 8500' elevation. My lung capacity and the thinner air is certainly a factor for me. My wife and I are going to try section hiking the AT in November for a change of pace. We are getting pretty excited about it. Take care.
+Packs-a-lot I would love to try a trail at those elevations. It will be tougher for sure. So far the trails I have done haven’t gone above 3k feet. You’ll love the AT. Just don’t do PA. I live there and the rocks aren’t great. I don’t mean rock scrambles of climbing but millions of those smaller rocks that demolish your feet. I’m somewhat used to it so I am excited to do a trail without them.
+BonefishBoards I purchased the trail guide book and paper map from PAHikes and they say 27.8, the PAHikes website says it is 27.1, the navigation app I used (AllTrails) said it was 27.1 miles, several other websites including Wikipedia says 27.1 which is what I went with. The other reason I went with 27.1 was that my app on my phone that tracks steps and mileage said 28.1 which makes sense since that also includes me getting ready in the morning as well as my setting up camera shots and going back and forth to get my camera during the hike.
+BonefishBoards ... I also find discrepancies with other trails mileage with websites, go’s apps, paper maps, etc. I don’t think I found one that was consistent across media.
Great trip I agree it's nice to challenge yourself from time to time. Awesome job making this a day hike. My spot has worked good there the 3 times I've been on the OLP maybe it was the impending storms. That blaze you pointed out after the climb from the water crossing. My buddy missed that turn and hiked to the deer enclosure so that has gotten a few people.
+Dragon Roams Lol. When we did that trip last year we ran into a group of guys who did the same thing. When you realize what you did it doesn’t make sense why no one sees that orange blaze right across from where you come out. Lol.
Great hike! The same thing happened to me when I went to day a section hike in NJ last weekend - I got to my planned shelter on the AT way earlier than I planned so I just kept going and going. Exhausting but I loved the challenge of it. I hope you made a video of your West Rim hike. I’ve been considering driving out there and doing it. Happy trails.
+EasyDoesIt I just got back from my trip to the West Rim Trail and I filmed it. The video will be out Thursday. If I get to camp really early I tend to get bored (if by myself) and if I don’t keep going I regret it because I keep thinking about how much further along I would be and that I have to do those miles tomorrow. Lol.
Dan, that was a big day of hiking, you must have felt that the next day. I have been following your channel for a while and really appreciate the work you are doing. As a fellow UA-cam creator, I know these videos take a lot of effort to produce and it's nice to have feedback from the audience. One note, it looks to me like portions of the Old Loggers Path was likley and old logging railroad, which is different than just a lgging road. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and your support. I was wondering about the railroad. When I was editing I was wondering if that what it really was. Thanks for the correction. Backpacking Adventures thanks appreciate the quick reply! I’m heading out there tomorrow. Have you ever done the spur trails off Old Loggers Path? Sharp Shinned Trail and Hawkeye Cross Country Ski Trail?
Good job stepfather 👍
Thanks Pantryella!
Great hike - big day, congratulations! Enjoyed seeing the trail, trees and blazes. I haven't hiked in that area before. Cute salamanders and snake!

Fantastic hike. So green and waterfall is amazing. Come visit soon
It is a very beautiful hike. Well worth it.
Awesome
Well done Dan. Very cool video. Nice loop. Great base weight, under 10 pounds. Crow✌️

28 miles...that is a long day.
AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING I felt it the next morning but it surprisingly wasn’t too bad. Just a little stiff.
