    Thanks for the video man. Really appreciate it! Hiked the trail about 10 years ago. One of my favorites. Just a suggestion... I would make the background music more in the background. It was pretty loud. I caught myself turning down the video then missing what you said. Other than that great and informative video. Keep it up!

      Adihcar Adihcar yes there are bears. In that part of the state there are lots of bears and snakes. However, the chance of you seeing a bear is slim. And if you do it will probably be running away before you see it.

    Hey there! Great video! Any tips on where to park? Do you have a map of the trail? I'd love to see options for making it a smaller loop since I only have a day and a half to finish. Thanks!

      Sarah Froberg Thanks! I used a free PDF from the PADCNR. My friend bought a map but the freebie was way better and more detailed.
      You can purchase a map from the Keystone Trail Association website for about $8. The link is www.kta-hike.org/store.html#mapsbooks Just scroll down until you find it. It wasn’t very detailed at all. There are other sites you can get a map but they are the same map.
      I used a free PDF map provided for free by the PADCNR. It was much more detailed and indicated the other trails that you can use to make a shorter loop. The direct link to the pdf map is www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/groups/public/documents/document/dcnr_20027896.pdf
      However, when you print the map it is hard to read because everything was so small. especially for an old person like me. I downloaded the pdf to my phone so I could zoom in and actually read it.
      But overall I would use the pdf from PADCNR. That would be your best bet.
      Also, if you ever want to hike the trails like the west rim trail or Black Forest trail, the Pine Creek Outfitters have outstanding maps you can purchase. You can get them on line or at their store. Check them out to see what maps they have. The owner creates them himself.

      Sarah Froberg I forgot to answer your parking question. There is a pretty nice parking lot there. However, I used the All Trails app to get directions to it. It had me park at a different spot but it was right on the trail. The All Trails is a great app if you don’t already have it. There is lots of spaces to park. You should also get moth balls. There are porcupines there that like to eat your wires under your car. Put the moth balls in an opened Tupperware container and place it under your car. That will keep them away.

      @@backpackingadventures4813 Thank you so much for this information! I really appreciate it! And one more question, if you don't mind! You can camp anywhere along the trail (within reason of course!)? Thanks again!

    • @backpackingadventures4813
      @backpackingadventures4813  5 років тому

      Sarah Froberg As far as I know, yes. I didn’t read of any restrictions or saw anything at the trail head. There were plenty of camp sites and a shelter about 10 miles in if you go clockwise. I went counter clockwise and I didn’t stay at a site. We hiked until we were tired and found a spot and stealth camped. There are plenty of flat spots, if you are a ground dweller, for stealth camping if you need to. Keep a look out for snakes too.

    Long pants? Headnet?

      +john tuttle I didn’t wear long pants. Never do in warm weather. To get around the stinging nettle I put on my rain skirt. You could use rain pants as well. I did have a head bet but didn’t use it. Only had one spot with bugs which we went right through.

    do you think this is a trail a medium sized dog could do? (blue heeler)

    • @backpackingadventures4813
      @backpackingadventures4813  4 роки тому +1

      +StrictlyAwesome I don’t think they would have any problems. It is hilly but nothing really steep and little rocky areas. However, it would depend on the fitness level of your dog, So if they are used to hiking they will have a great time.

      @@backpackingadventures4813 Good to hear. Endurance is not an issue with my doggo. I just wanted to make sure the trail itself isn't to rough. Thank you!

      +StrictlyAwesome I also just got back from doing this trail again a day ago and just published the new video a few minutes ago. There is one spot that changed from last year. It is Pleasant Stream but it is more like a small river. It was pretty deep. About just over my knees at the lowest point (I could find) and pretty swift. Not sure if that will be an issue for a dog or not. Just wanted to make sure you have the up-to-date information.

    The nonstop metal music throughout the entire video was annoying. Probably shouldn’t do that...

      Yep. That was one of my first trip video I created. I learned a lot since then. I did that trail again a month or so ago with another video on it.
