- A new report in the Globe and Mail claims that an invite to Yaroslav Hunka, a former Nazi soldier, to a reception with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Canada last year came from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office. In the House of Commons Tuesday, Conservatives questioned the Liberal government about the invite.
Hunka did not accept the invite to the Toronto reception.
“The prime minister’s been claiming for months that he had no involvement in or knowledge of the invitation of a former Nazi soldier to the visit of the Ukrainian president. Now, we know he personally invited that same individual - he actually said the opposite - he said that the former speaker had to resign over doing the exact same thing. So will he hold himself to the very same standard and admit that he’s not fit for office,” the leader of the official opposition, Pierre Poilievre, asked Tuesday.
“The attacks that the leader of the opposition is choosing to make against the Ukrainian Canadian Congress demonstrates the extent to which this Conservative Party no longer stands with Ukraine,” Trudeau said in response.
Trudeau told reporters in September of last year the incident in which Hunka received a standing ovation in the House of Commons was “deeply embarrassing” to Parliament and all Canadians. House Speaker Anthony Rota resigned shortly after the details came to light.

Rota wasn't thrown under the bus. Rota nor anyone else would take the blame for something that they were not involved in. Hunka is from the district that Rota represents. The speaker’s office said it was Hunka’s son who contacted Rota’s local office to see if it was possible if he could attend Zelensky’s speech. Pierre Poilievre also lies to Canadians often. He is lying about Trudeau knowing anything about the invitation. Pierre knows very well it has only to do with Rota.

How are Canadians being "thrown under the bus" by Canada supporting Ukraine in its war against an invading Putin? The overwhelming majority of Canadians support helping Ukraine - especially the 1.36 million Ukrainian Canadians.

@@arkcon714 Nah, recent polling shows the majority of Canadians support Ukraine and support the federal governments continued aid. You are referring to waning support for financial aid. There are more ways to support Ukraine than just giving money. There's weapons, logistics, etc. Support for Ukraine among Conservatives has sharply dropped - in line with MAGA Republicans - which is a problem for Poilievre. It would appear that Republicans running cover for Putin has spilled north.

One-quarter (25%) of Canadians believe their country is doing too much to assist Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.

If you would bother to read some articles and follow some links you would discover that Hunka is from the district that Rota, the speaker that resigned, represents. The speaker’s office said it was Hunka’s son who contacted Rota’s local office to see if it was possible if he could attend Zelensky’s speech. Former Chief of Protocol Roy Norton is 100% convinced that everything is on the up and up about who is responsible for the people that sit in the speakers gallery. Trudeau had zero to do with Hunka being at parliament and it is not the responsibility of government to vet guests. .
Go back and watch it in real time, the look on Justin’s face is all the proof you need, he knew in real time what was going on and how bad it was.

Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Stepanov told RIA Novosti that the diplomatic mission received a note from the Canadian Foreign Ministry refusing to extradite former SS member Gunko.
Conservatives have done really well for us in the past, they're way more capable of taking care of the country. We might need a little bit of tough love at first but things will get much better for it. Also I knew the speaker was a scapegoat, those were the first words out of my mouth when the whole thing happened. Our speaker was a perfectly fine speaker who did his job well, probably as close to an unbiased speaker you could ever dream to have. I think it was a move on Trudeau's part to get a different speaker in hopes to improve his odds.

People do not take blame for something they are not involved in and certainly don't resign over it especially from a high profile position. He resigned and said he was responsible for Hunka. The speaker's office accepted that request. Trudeau nor government had anything to do with the invite or the vetting.
Housing doubled in the 8 years the conservatives were in power, and PP was minister for infrastructure and housing for part of that time. How is that doing well for us? If the conservatives had done well for us there wouldn't have been a change to Liberal government.
