    Coring a tree doesn't hurt it at all if done properly. I highly doubt any of those trees were around back at the time of the Spaniards. They look to be under 50 years old.

      Yup, total bullshit. I made a living cutting timber, and I was cutting mostly 3rd growth, Douglas fir, redwood, and red cedar, and none of it was much bigger than 50 inches at breast height, those trees are 50 to 70 years old , tops.

    • @lawrencelyman3372
      @lawrencelyman3372 Рік тому

      @Lovealllife369 Рік тому +1

      Your both absolutely wrong. Plants can feel pain. There is never ever a good reason to cut down or trim a tree. Ever. Would you like it if someone came along to your chill spot and dug out a portion of your skin?

    • @lawrencelyman3372
      @lawrencelyman3372 Рік тому +3

      @Red it's "you're" not "your", and , I'm sorry, no matter how much you want to hug trees, you aren't correct. The problem with your take is this, for hundreds of years, close to 200 years in the U.S., forests have been "managed" by humans, and Nature. Trees are a resource, not only to humans, but to beavers, porcupines, elk, and every other thing that either eats or adapts thier environment to suit thier needs. The lack of management of under story growth, as well as poor policy has actually killed more trees than trimming or cutting down trees will ever do.

    We all know growth is growing taller in height. As children grow, they get taller. That's not the same for trees. Many trees grow from the top. Not the bottom. The base of the tree will get wider and age with time. The top of the tree keeps growing. Also, keep in mind that trees around the world are different. These trees are Aspen trees at 10,000 feet in elevation in northern Utah.
    For instance, pine trees in Arizona are quite a bit different than the pine trees in Utah. Different species, different elevations, different soils. Minerals in the soils can change the way trees grow too.
    Remember, a lot of symbols that are carved in trees will stay at the same height or position that they were originally carved. What happens to the symbols after time? They will start distorting, getting wider, and even closing the scar in the tree. Sometimes the bark will grow over the carvings and sometimes it will grow out from around the carvings. After 25 years of researching symbols, I have learned that not one tree symbol is the same and they all tend to grow a different way. When I go out and investigate a tree carving, I inspect the age and depth of the carving itself. As the scar gets older, it often makes the carved area deeper in the tree.
    There are some ways to test the age. Carbon dating could work. You can also core the tree to get an age or date. I use the method of depth and lichen. For every 3/4" - 1" inch of depth, it usually means 100 years of growth and age. That is only a field test. It's not absolute. Investigating the way trees grow and the common reaction to scaring is a more effective way to go about aging. Lichen growth on or around the carving is another indicator of age. That all depends on the moisture in the air, elevation, sunlight, and so much more. This is more in the scientific way of thinking rather than common sense. Good brainstorming everyone. This is how you learn and investigate.
    Good Luck. Be Safe. Find Your Adventure!

    I have my doubts with this. While living in Germany, I used to hike a lot. In many of the forests I would see Peoples Initials carved into trees from WWI ..... And in just that amount of time ( WWI to the 1980s ) those Initials were now 15 to 20 feet off the ground ( the trees grew.) . The trees that these alleged Spanish clues are on are very tall. The Spanish clues should be at lest 10 or 15 feet up the tree from where they are now..... Right?

    • @apkasidar633
      @apkasidar633 3 роки тому +2

      The answer - it depends. Factors like tree species, height at age of carving and placement, etc...... I carved a penis into a tree 25 years ago and it's still there at the same low height. My grandparents love heart carved in the 40's is at head height on another tree still, however on my treehouse in an alder forest, the carving my friend and I made high up in the 80's, went higher up out of reach completely. Generally they will stretch and scar, not slip into the new growth heading upward

    • @michaelpacnw2419
      @michaelpacnw2419 3 роки тому +6

      You are correct. None of these men have a lick of sense. None of those trees are over 50 years old. Fir trees are massive if they live to be even 100 years old. My guess is that whole place has been logged back in pioneer times and those trees are second or more likely third growth forest by now.

    • @apkasidar633
      @apkasidar633 3 роки тому +1

      i forgot to add, that the vertical growth is incrementally greater as you go up the tree, its typically 10% of the tree top-down that stretches vertically the most. A carving will not move up a tree with it as it grows, only stretch.

    As a tree guy who made a living with tree work your completely incorrect about the aging of trees. The only correct way is to count rings but even the rings don’t mean years they mean growth season witch depending on your year a cold snap or hot snap will give you a abbreviated growth ring you can also have years with ring.

      Hey man… I was kind of thinking the same thing. Some of that stuff looks like it has been manipulated since the 90’s. Evergreens, and especially those Aspens, have an exfoliating property that folds over the bark and grows more than others. Plus the interior bark looks fresh af.
      Seems wild.

    The largest treasure ever found in Utah, still languishes in situ--waiting for the right person to 'rescue' it from the oblivion of anonymity. All newly minted gold coins. A minimum face value of more than half a million dollars. What would that be worth today? Why was the Gov't bringing that much funding into the Uintah Basin? Rogue agents of NSA, offered me a ten percent finder's fee, if I would lead them to the location. I haggled for fifty percent...they refused ... I reciprocated in kind. That was 1987. The treasure was discovered in Oct. 1984. I removed the military buckboard, that the outlaws had disassembled and buried a short distance from the gold. I could be mistaken, but, I think that Harvey Logan, may have planned and executed this one. According to my late friend George Stewart of Roosevelt, Utah, Harvey Logan always wanted to pull off just such a robbery. I would like to believe, that this was his last hurrah! While the Feds did give me certain bits and pieces of information, they steadfastly refused to give me a computer printout, from which they were reading. While I cannot go to the treasure, because of surveillance--I'm still the only person who knows it's location. Someday, when the US Gov't is teetering on collapse, I will go into the area, with a very special trusted team, and requisition it for the Civil War, that is looming inexorably, on America's Horizon! It will be our last war, to cast off Satan's Shackles. The words of one of the Feds, still resonates as clearly today, as it did in 1987: "We don't want that gold--we just don't want you to have it--we are afraid of what you might do with it!" I am not responsible for the actions of usurpers--I am only responsible for my own actions! I presently have the technology to easily locate at varying ranges, an infinitude of such hoards, and natural deposits of gold. I do not share that technology! Strangely, I get no positive metered indications at the so called 'Dream Mine'......but, I will do some more testing, when next I'm in the general area. Satan is the one who answers prayers, that do not have the proper, and correct motivation. The path is straight and narrow, not broad and crooked!

    Every finger joint is 100 years? Is he stupid? There are so few trees left that are over 150 years old. That tree is only about 30 or 40 years old.

      In the redwoods in California there are trees over a thousand years old and in Tennessee there are trees as old as 500 to 1000 years old, it’s usually untouched deep wooded areas that you find these trees

      @@sassiemommac Yes, there are trees that old. I never said there wasn't. However, out of the billions of trees in the world most are younger than that. My original comment was to discredit how he "aged" the tree. Each ring in a tree is only one year. The size between each varies each year based on climate, temperature and rainfall. Telling people that the length of your finger joint equals 100 years in the tree is absolutely ridiculous.

      Yeah, no way is it that old. I planted a 5 year old oak in my yard 35 years ago and it's large enough you can't even get your arms half way around the trunk it's so big. Oaks aren't considered to be fast growing either. This guy is full of it.
